The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 153

Chapter 153

Evening.

Pics of Jamie and Manda getting up-close and personal were spreading like wildfire across major

media platforms. Of course, all the juicy details were blurred out, because, you know, public decency

and all that jazz. Even the names in the pics were smudged, leaving only the surnames.

This hot topic was causing a stir in many social groups Cordelia was part of. Some folks were even

hunting for unedited, uncensored original pics.

Cordelia wanted to ring up Jamie to offer some comfort. But she knew Jamie must have been feeling

pretty crummy right now, so she chose to play dumb.

How could Ronan be so heartless? Just to satisfy his own carnal desires, he struck at others without

batting an eye. And what was the other thing he accidentally spilled today?

The more Cordelia thought about it, the colder she felt. She hadn't had any exchanges with Ronan in

the past few days.

Everyone at work was feeling like they'd been let out of jail.

On Halloween, Edwin's car pulled up to Cordelia's apartment, with Brooklyn in the passenger seat.

Edwin and Brooklyn helped Shelley into the car.

Edwin didn't have deep feelings for Brooklyn, but when he heard it was about Cordelia, he still came.

Brooklyn was feeling a bit sour.

As they were nearing Roseville, Shelley patted Cordelia's hand. “Della, when you get to your

grandma’s, keep it low-key. You know how Samantha is.”

“I got it.”

“Don’t mention that you work at Lumos Enterprises, just say you're at an average Joe company."

Shelley was still thinking about what else they should be careful about while patting Cordelia's hand.

"I know."

Thinking about Samantha sent a chill down Cordelia's spine.

Years back, the first day after Halloween, Cordelia and her mom went to visit her grandma. Back then,

Samantha, in her pretty floral dress, asked Cordelia how she did on her English test. Everyone in

Millstone had the same test, and English was Samantha's best subject.

"I didn't do well on the essay, lost five points, and scored a total of 95," Cordelia answered.

Samantha's face turned pale as a ghost, and she ripped up her own test paper and started bawling.

She scored 90.

Ronald and Sienna thought Cordelia had upset their precious daughter, looking a bit unhappy. That

year, it took a gift from Shelley to smooth things over with Samantha.

Cordelia thought then, “Samantha's temper is terrible. She's too possessive, too selfish.”

Looking back and remembering her temper, she and Ronan were like two peas in a pod. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Ronan's actions made Cordelia feel suffocated.

"Oh, also, Della, we need to come back tomorrow, and their house probably can't fit us all. I'll share a

bed with your grandma, you..." Shelley glanced at Brooklyn and Edwin in the front.

Brooklyn couldn't wait to not return tonight.

"It's fine, we'll find a hotel for tonight. Della and I will share a room, Edwin will get his own, okay?"

Brooklyn was sitting in the passenger seat and glanced at Edwin beside her.

Shelley knew this wasn't ideal, but she hadn't been back to Roseville for years. She wasn't sure if

Ronald's family was still living in the old community, or if they were still welcoming. If not, she planned

to stay at a hotel, which was the worst-case scenario.

"I can cover your expenses," she told Brooklyn and Edwin.

"No need. Let's just treat this like a little trip," Brooklyn responded with excitement.

"Exactly, I don't have anything going on these days, so I'll follow Cordelia's plan," Edwin joined in.

"Della will treat you to a meal when we get to Roseville," Shelley said.

"Of course," Brooklyn responded seriously, as if she could already see the dining scene.

Two and a half hours later, they arrived at the old community in Roseville. Brooklyn and Edwin drove off

to find a hotel, leaving Shelley and Cordelia.

"Della, I think you might have to stay at a hotel tonight," Shelley said, noticing Ronald's family still lived

in the old house. The three tiny rooms and small living room definitely couldn't fit them all.

They knocked on Ronald's door.

The door was opened by Samantha.

"Auntie Shelley, Cordelia? How are you, Auntie Shelley?" Samantha was surprised.

From her tone, Cordelia couldn't tell whether she was happy or sad, just indifferent. Samantha gave

Cordelia a once-over as she walked in.

After not seeing each other for years, Cordelia had grown even more beautiful!
