In recent times, Lucas has appeared to thoroughly enjoy his role. Despite not being officially married and holding the status of a husband, he continues to strive to care for and look after Deasy wholeheartedly and with all his soul.
Lucas seems so sincere, without ever calculating. In fact, whatever Deasy asks for, he always tries to fulfill it right away.
Like last night. When it was time to sleep, Deasy was craving like a pregnant woman. She complained that she really wanted seafood fried rice for breakfast tomorrow, sprinkled with a lot of shrimp flour on top.
As a result, because he had the skill to cook, Lucas woke up early in the morning. He immediately took a shower, then headed to the kitchen. He checked the refrigerator to take out the shrimp and some other ingredients.
He started chopping, then washing. Then he cooked and prepared it into seafood fried rice, just as Deasy had requested.
For some reason, there was a special satisfaction for Lucas if he could grant Deasy’s wishes. He was happy just to see the woman smiling with joy because her request was fulfilled in such a way.
Lucas thought that if the pregnant mother was healthy, happy, and her mind was at ease, then the baby in her womb would also be healthy, and most importantly, it would grow well.
“Good morning, Honey.”
Lucas greeted Deasy as she entered the dining room. Quickly rising, Lucas approached her and guided Deasy to sit in the chair he had prepared.
“From opening the bedroom door, your cooking smells amazing. It’s making my stomach growl even more.”
“Yeah, of course,” Lucas replied with a broad smile. Then he pulled out a chair and sat down right beside Deasy. “The aroma alone is mouthwatering. Not to mention the taste. It’s so delicious. Besides, I cooked it just the way you requested. Seafood fried rice with plenty of shrimp flour.”
Deasy responded with a smile in her eyes. Without needing any more encouragement from Lucas, she immediately picked up a spoon, scooped some rice and shrimp from the plate, and tasted it impatiently.
“How is it?” Lucas asked, curious. He even leaned forward, waiting very eagerly for Deasy’s comment on what he had painstakingly prepared.
“Hmmm… how should I put it,” Deasy mumbled while chewing the rice in her mouth. “It’s good, but…”
“But, what? It’s good, but you still have something to say?”
Lucas grew even more curious. He reached for a spoon and took another bite of the fried rice he had cooked, chewing while trying to figure out if there was something wrong or unusual with his cooking this time.
“According to my taste buds, it’s delicious.”
“Well, it is delicious,” Deasy quickly interjected. “But there’s something missing, Luc.”
Lucas furrowed his brow.
“What’s missing, then? Is it not savory enough? Not spicy enough? Not enough seasoning? Or am I being disrespectful?”
Deasy laughed and gently pinched Lucas’s cheek, amused by the handsome man’s comments.
“In terms of flavor, texture, and content, your fried rice is nearly perfect and meets my expectations, honey.”
“So, what is it, then? What’s missing?”
“Well, there is something missing. Because you didn’t feed me like you usually do.”
Upon hearing Deasy’s response, Lucas immediately breathed a sigh of relief. His expression was as if he had just solved a problem.
“Oh God… I was wondering what could be missing. Turns out, the fried rice was missing love.”
Laughter once again erupted from Deasy’s lips. Holding the spoon she had just used, she asked Lucas to feed her as usual. Lucas promptly complied. After all, it was his duty to serve Deasy wholeheartedly.
“Eat plenty, okay? Until you’re full. If you need anything later, just tell me.”
“Really, if I want something, will you grant it immediately?”
Lucas nodded.
“As long as it’s not asking for the moon or craving to live on Mars. Otherwise, I’ll do my best to fulfill your requests as long as they’re within reason.”
Deasy smiled with joy. Her heart warmed by Lucas’s touching words.
“Thank you for always being attentive. Thank you for always trying to fulfill my wishes,” Deasy said with a serious expression, looking into Lucas’s eyes and studying his face for a while.
“You’re welcome. It’s my duty, after all,” Lucas replied.
Deasy nodded in agreement. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“Thinking about it again, I don’t think we need to wait for a two-month trial period.”
Lucas was taken aback. He furrowed his brow, trying to clarify what Deasy had just said to him.
“What do you mean?”
“How about we get married next month?”
Lucas gaped. He was sure he hadn’t misheard. Deasy had just asked him to get married. Their trial period wasn’t even one month yet. Lucas couldn’t forget when Deasy had requested to get to know each other for at least two months.
“So, what was that just now? Marriage? Next month?”
Deasy nodded again, smiling.
“Yes, Luc. Let’s get married next month. What do you say? Are you okay with it?”
Lucas nodded in agreement. How could he refuse? From the beginning, he had been the one pushing Deasy to get married sooner.
“Yeah, sure. But why the sudden change of heart?”
“I feel like there’s nothing more I need to doubt about you, Luc. The details and adjustments can be worked out after we’re married. What’s important is that we can make it official and live together with a legal status. But…”
Deasy deliberately paused in her sentence. Once again, this aroused curiosity in Lucas.
“But what else? You really love using ‘but’ all the time.”
Deasy burst into a cheerful laugh. There was indeed one important thing she wanted to discuss with the narrow-eyed man.
“But before we get married, I want to introduce you to my mom next week. I mean, how can you marry me without knowing who my parents are?”
“Okay, next week, I’ll set a special schedule to meet your mom.”
“Thank you,” Deasy said happily. “Then, after meeting my mom, it’s your turn to introduce me to your parents and talk about our wedding plans.”
Lucas involuntarily choked on the water he was drinking. He had forgotten that when it came to marriage, both sides would introduce and seek permission and blessings from the parents of the prospective bride and groom.
And he still hadn’t received his father’s blessing. Furthermore, the issue of his impending revelation would have to be carefully considered and eventually shared with Deasy to avoid complications.
“Are you okay?” Deasy asked as she wiped Lucas’s wet lips.
“I’m okay, Honey.”
“All right then. You can arrange a schedule to meet your parents. If everything goes smoothly, we can then plan a meeting with both sets of parents to discuss our wedding plans.”
“But, darling…” Lucas interrupted cautiously. “Are you going to tell our parents about your current condition-”
“Pregnancy?”
Lucas nodded.
“Do you want to be completely honest with our parents, especially your mom, about your current pregnancy?”
Deasy took a deep breath. She had actually thought about this before.
“It’s pointless to hide it, Luc. Sooner or later, they will find out. So, it’s better if we tell them everything ourselves, rather than have them find out from someone else.”
“Alright, I’ll go along with you. I’ll make sure to apologize to your parents and ask for permission to make you my wife as soon as possible.”
