PREGNANT BUT REJECTED AS A BILLIONAIRE WIFE

PHB 54

Currently, Deasy has successfully obtained the glasses that Lucas is wearing. Just as she was about to take them off, Deasy was startled when Lucas suddenly opened his eyes and gently held her hand.

For a moment, the man gazed at Deasy’s face. He stared closely, then soon smiled and said softly.

“Why aren’t you asleep yet, honey?”

Deasy froze for a moment. She was confused about how to answer Lucas’s seemingly simple and straightforward question. It felt like she wanted to escape. She was incredibly embarrassed to be caught wanting to do something with the man in front of her.

“I-I…” Deasy stammered.

“I what?”

“I-uh…”

“Huh? What’s wrong?”

“Uh? No!” Deasy interjected while shaking her head repeatedly. She was still nervous and struggling to figure out what to say to Lucas.

“So, what’s the matter?”

“Nothing, really,” Deasy finally answered. “Actually, before going to sleep, I wanted to kiss you again. When I looked closely at your face, it seemed a bit strange.”

“Strange?”

Deasy nodded.

“Well… I just thought it was weird that you were sleeping with your glasses on. So, I wanted to help you take them off. I was afraid you might have forgotten to remove them, and it could be dangerous if they broke.”

Deasy wasn’t entirely bluffing. Besides wanting to see Lucas’s face without glasses, she also realized that Lucas had never taken off his glasses in front of her. Even during their intimate moments yesterday, he had kept them on.

Well, it was perfectly fine to keep glasses on during intimate moments. Who knew that without glasses, Lucas might have trouble distinguishing between his chest and his stomach, or between his lips and his eyes. Or maybe he’d confuse a swamp for a dense forest.

For the past two days of sharing a bed, unfortunately, it was always Deasy who fell asleep first. So, she never got to see whether Lucas slept with his glasses or took them off. But she had to admit, she was the type of person who fell asleep within seconds of her head hitting the pillow.

And when she woke up, Lucas was always neatly dressed. This made her unable to confirm whether Lucas slept with his glasses or removed them like most other people.

Moreover, when she returned from work earlier, she heard a story from the practicing doctor in the apartment complex who revealed what he had seen the other day. It made Deasy even more restless. So, she was extremely curious and wanted to find out firsthand whether Lucas was really handsome without his glasses, as she had heard.

“Oh, do you want to help take these off?” Lucas pointed to his glasses. “Do you want to help or are you actually curious to see what I look like without glasses?”

“Gosh,” Deasy coughed awkwardly. She was truly embarrassed because Lucas seemed to be able to read her thoughts.

In the next moment, right in front of Deasy, the man indeed removed the glasses that had been perched on his sharp nose all this time. Without hesitation, without much thought, he just casually handed them over to Deasy, asking her to place them on the nightstand.

“So, are you still curious now?” he asked.

Deasy gazed at Lucas’s face slowly, observing it closely. She noticed that his face without glasses wasn’t much different from before.

“I’ve taken off my glasses. What else do you want to see?” Lucas asked afterward. “You’ve seen me naked before, haven’t you?”

Deasy’s face turned red. Seriously, why did Lucas always speak so bluntly?

“Ugh, what’s with you?”

“Well, in that case, hurry up and go to sleep, honey. It’s already late. Aren’t you sleepy? Aren’t you tired? If you are, we can exercise together at night, so you’ll be able to sleep soundly afterward. I’m ready for that.”

Understanding Lucas’s intentions, Deasy immediately pinched Lucas’s stomach playfully until he let out a loud yelp. She was annoyed because he always teased her and left her speechless.

“Why do you enjoy teasing me so much?”

Lucas smiled. Brushing aside the strands of hair scattered on Deasy’s cheek, he spoke while gazing at the woman sitting right in front of him.

“Because you look beautiful when you’re grumbling or blushing like that. Besides, your dad used to be a goat herder, right?”

Deasy furrowed her brows in confusion. As far as she remembered, her father had never sold goats or any other pets. Lucas was just making things up!

“Huh? Goat herder? What are you talking about?”

“Yeah, because your son is so good at making my heart waver.”

Deasy couldn’t help but burst into laughter. Lucas could really come up with nonsensical comments.

“You’re such a joker, but… I bet you used to be the child of a tart seller, right?”

Deasy didn’t want to be outdone. Feeling like she could compete with Lucas’s quick-wittedness, she thought of a comeback.

“No, not at all. The truth is, my parents used to sell Padang rice dishes, darling.”

Deasy chuckled. Even though she was joking, she wondered why Lucas took it so seriously.

“Ah, you’re no fun!” Deasy pouted.

Amused by Deasy’s irritated expression, Lucas laughed heartily. He pinched her cheeks and then spoke again.

“Okay, forgive me, you sulking little one. Alright, one more time, go on.”

“Your parents used to be tart sellers, didn’t they?”

“What’s that?”

“Because you’re so good at melting my heart, like a tart.”

“Hahaha,” Lucas laughed while holding his stomach because it was funny. He admitted that out of all the women he had known, only Deasy was on the same wavelength and could keep up with his random jokes. It was just a lot of fun.

“Alright, let’s sleep now. It’s really late, sweetheart. We have work tomorrow, and we don’t want to oversleep.”Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Deasy shook her head. Even though it was already midnight, for some reason, she didn’t feel very sleepy.

“I’m not really sleepy, Luc.”

“Do you want to stay up late? Well, I used to like staying up late too. But now, I only like being with you.”

“What’s with you, Luc? You’re so corny.”

Lucas and Deasy both laughed heartily for a while. Afterward, for the umpteenth time, Lucas tried to persuade Deasy to prepare for rest together. Besides, it wasn’t good for a pregnant woman to lack sleep.

“Come on, let’s go to sleep, sweetheart. We can continue tomorrow. If you don’t want to sleep, we can seriously just make out. It’s more productive.”

Deasy sighed and eventually obeyed Lucas’s command.

“Yeah… alright, let’s sleep now. But you have to hug me. Yesterday, no one hugged me when I slept.”

Lucas nodded in agreement. He stretched out his arms, inviting Deasy to snuggle into them.

Then, he held Deasy tightly. Before sleeping, he took a moment to kiss Deasy’s forehead, both cheeks, and her lips.

“While you’re weaving, wear the bracelet. Goodnight, my love.”

Deasy stifled a laugh and tightened the embrace. She buried her face on Lucas’s chest, inhaling his addictive scent. She tried to close her eyes and eventually fell asleep.

Lucas, on the other hand, shook his head. As he gently stroked Deasy’s exposed arm, he smiled with relief because his disguise wouldn’t be uncovered or noticed by Deasy for now.

Earlier, while driving from Devina’s house to Deasy’s apartment, Felix, Lucas’s assistant, had expressed concern that a situation like this might occur. That’s why Lucas’s assistant had raised the issue and reminded him.

“Sir, I want to make sure again, is Mr. Lucas really sure he wants to stay at Ms. Deasy’s house for the next nine months?”

“Absolutely, Felix. I even made a promise and I won’t break it. A man is as good as his word. If I can’t keep a promise like this, how can Deasy trust me in the future?”

While driving the car, Felix nodded. He knew that his boss was the kind of man who always tried to keep his promises and uphold his word.

However, the situation was different now. According to Felix, it was very dangerous and had the potential to cause chaos.

“But… even though you’re living under the same roof, Sir Lucas doesn’t intend to share a room with Ms. Deasy, right?”

“Why not? It’s my choice whether I sleep in Deasy’s room or wherever I want.”

Felix sighed deeply. He was torn explaining because his boss didn’t seem to grasp his point.

“Not that, Sir. What I mean is, is Mr. Lucas aware of the potential danger that could easily arise if he sleeps in the same room and even the same bed as Ms. Deasy? For instance, the possibility that someone could easily discover Mr. Lucas’s disguise?”

Lucas smiled in his seat. Finally, he understood his assistant’s concerns.

“Don’t worry. Even if I take off my glasses, for now, I guarantee that Deasy won’t recognize or identify me. Unless-”

“Ms. Deasy pulls off the wig Mr. Lucas is wearing, right?”

Lucas nodded. Until now, the significant difference between Lucas Morales and Lucas Orion lay not in their glasses but in their completely different hairstyles and colors.

Lucas Morales had an undercut hairstyle with a deep black color, which was vastly different from Lucas Orion. The corporate guy had a middle part hairstyle or sometimes his hair appeared in a messy style with a slightly brownish hue.

For Lucas, glasses had always been just an accessory. Whether he wore them or not didn’t really have a significant impact on his appearance.

However, Lucas still wore them, using this small item as an accessory and a distinctive feature of Lucas Orion to make himself look a bit nerdy or uncool.

“I hope this disguise remains safe until Mr. Lucas’s mission is complete,” Felix expressed with a serious demeanor. “I hope everything goes smoothly, and I especially hope that Ms. Deasy won’t be angry or disappointed once she finds out the truth.”

Lucas briefly pondered these words. As he gazed at Deasy’s peacefully sleeping face, he prayed to God. He hoped that he could overcome all the challenges that lay ahead. This included obtaining Devina’s approval and his wedding plans as well.

Lucas hoped he could resolve everything. Eventually, he could unite with Deasy and build a happy family together.
