Pregnant.
_JANIS’ POV_
The air was tensed and heated up as I and my sister stared daggers at each other, our bloodshot glares scaring the wits out of all the other employees that would have dared to interfere.
What the fuck is wrong with Stravis? I mean who the hell gave her the authority to fire my workers without my fucking consent!?
“Well, I am the owner of this company, the CEO!” I yelled at her, reminding her of the status I held in this company with a fiery blaze of indignation burning in my eyes.
I am the CEO and Stravis has no fucking right to fire my workers without my knowledge!
I made her the manager of this company.
“And I’m the one who runs things here! You don’t even know half of what goes on here!!” Stravis yelled back at me, matching my enraged tone.
Are Stravis nuts or something?!
I marched up to Stravis my chest heaving with anger. The air became too tight to breathe in and silence like wildfire spread throughout the office as everyone fed their eyes on the scenery unfolding between me and my rude younger sister.
“How dare you speak to me in such a manner? Or have you forgotten that I am your older sister huh Miss Stravis Walter!?” My acrimonious and bitter tone spat at her.
Stravis gave off a shallow chortle and a maniac smile curled up on her lips.”Oh, I haven’t forgotten dear sister. My older sister that’s too incompetent to even handle her own company. Instead, she passes the responsibilities to others, sits at home and pampers herself whilst waiting for her employees and everyone around her to kiss her ass” Stravis scoffed at me.
My jaws dropped to the ground on hearing her vile words. My chest heaved rapidly and my blood toppled.
“Stravis!” I raised my hands to hit her but stopped mid-air.
Gulping down the bitter gal that had formed in my throat, I pointed my forefinger to Stravis who had her hands folded across her chest.
“I swear if not that you were my younger sister, I would have beaten you up to a pulp right in front of everyone here Stravis”
I stopped talking for a brief second, trying to calm the torrents and wreckage that my nerves had become but it was futile.
“You should be grateful to me that I was merciful enough to let you work in this company as the manager. I mean look at you. There are millions of people out there better than you. People that will give this company millions in an hour yet I choose to put you as the manager of my company and yet you stand here with your filthy mouth and insult me? You must be sick in the head Stravis” I let out all my rage on my younger sister who just stood like a statue, taking in all my spiteful words.
“Janis you are so…” I didn’t let Stravis complete that statement as I quickly interrupted her.
“Shut the fuck up and let me finish!” I ordered, shaking the air around us.
“You should be grateful to me. If not for my help, kindness and guidance, I can bet my entire fortune that you wouldn’t be able to manage this company. Read my lips, Stravis…” I seethed in anger, wagging my forefinger at Stravis.
“Don’t cross the lane because you are stepping on my toes. If you overstep your lane, I promise I will cut down your wings and put a stop to your growth” I balefully threatened cryptically.
“And what do you mean by that?” Stravisinquired with a puzzled look plastered on her face.
“I will fire you. And I mean every fucking word” I dropped the bomb.
Stravis had her eyes widened at me as a doe caught in headlights. She almost staggered backwards and her jaws were ajar at my statement.
Masking her shock with a stoic expression, Stravis turned to leave but I could still hear faint murmurings coming from her lips.
“Fuck. CEO my foot. I mean who does this…” Stravis murmured inaudibly as she walked away.
A lopsided smirk played on my lips and I veered my eyes to face the stunned perplexed facial features of my PA.
“Don’t worry you are not fired. You can go continue with your job” I assured the young man.
“Thank you so much ma” he sounded cheerful.
I nodded and was about to turn to go when a stinging pain hit my head causing me to groan.
“Is anything the matter?” The young man asked, rushing over to my side.
“I’m just feeling so weak. Drive me to the hospital” I ordered him, placing a hand on my temples in a bid to massage them.
He nodded and came to my aid, walking me towards the doors of the company.
I noticed the many stares I kept getting and it all irked me.
“Get back to work all of you and stop staring!” I ordered which got all of them shuffling their feet back to their duties in an instant.
He led me through the glass doors of the company, our feets making their way into the broad parking lot that held my car.
I quickly threw him my keys and he used them to open the doors of my car.
Getting inside, I flopped my head back on the seat of my car with the engine gearing to life.
I felt something crawl into my senses and I suddenly felt so nauseous.
Calming my now restive profile, I shut my eyes close, wanting to be awakened when we reached our destination.

The drive to the hospital was about twenty minutes. I quickly pushed open the door of my car on getting there without waiting for my assistant to do it.
I needed to find out what was going on with me. I had my fears but I pushed them aside. I was never careless and I always used protection so it was probably something else.
“Stay right here and wait for me,” I told my assistant and rushed inside without sparing him a glance.
The pungent smell of drugs and injections hit my nostrils on getting into the hospital.
As expected, everyone quickly recognised who I was as all eyes had turned in my direction but I wasn’t in the mood for all that.
“Get me the doctor. I need to see the doctor now” I told the nurses who sat at the counter.
“Miss Janis Walter, you are welcome,” one said to me with a bright smile which I knew very well was fake.
“Yeah yeah. I need the doctor” I abruptly told her.
“Right this way” another motioned for me to follow her.
I hastily walked behind her, my mind racing on what could be making me feel so nauseous.
“Doctor Ivan, Miss Janis Walter would love to see you” the nurse announced as she opened the wooden doors of the doctor’s office.
“Miss Janis. What a surprise. Come in please” the young doctor told me with a hearty smile, the nurse shutting the door at once.
I sighed and walked towards him. Without waiting to be told, I propped myself up in a chair opposite the doctor.
The only thing separating us was the huge mahogany table.
“What brings you here Miss Janis?” The doctor inquired once again adjusting his glasses which sat on the bridge of his nose.
“I came because I’ve been feeling weak, dizzy and nauseous too. I honestly don’t know what’s going on with me” I lamented with a frustrated look on my face.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
The doctor hummed and nodded his head to my complaints. “Have you ever thrown up?” He inquired as he picked up a pen and began writing down some things into a file.
“Yes. I even threw up this morning” I almost exclaimed.
“And when did all these start?” the doctor threw another question at me without glancing up to face me.
“Uhm…” I raked my brain for the answer to that question.
“For like two weeks now. I’ve been having all these recurring symptoms.” I confessed.
The doctor didn’t ask any more questions. He instead got up and dropped his glasses on the table.
“We have to conduct a blood and pregnancy test on you”
I feared he would say that. I wasn’t pregnant. I couldn’t be pregnant.
“No doctor. I don’t think I’m pregnant” I objected to it.
“At least we have to run the test on you to know what’s wrong with you” the doctor advised.
He was right.
I sighed and cleaned to his words.
“We are settled then. Right this way please..” he motioned for me to go into a separate ward in his office.
I followed him with shaky breaths and an erratic heartbeat.
I pray it isn’t what I think it is.

It’s been two hours since I took the pregnancy test and the doctor is yet to give me the result.
My tremor rose with each nanosecond and I found myself almost forgetting to breathe now and then.
“Miss Janis” a nurse who walked out of the doctor’s office called me as I sat on one of the numerous iron chairs in the hospital.
“Yes..” I quickly stood up.
“The doctor would like to see you” she informed. I rushed in with mortified feet, eager to see the result of the test taken.
“Doctor so what’s the result? It is negative right?” I rambled as I sat.
The doctor was silent and passed me an envelope which I opened with shaky hands and its contents had me almost passing out.
I am fucking pregnant..!
