Chapter 327
Chapter 327
“Not bad, how’s your family doing?” Xavier asked.
“They’re all doing pretty good, the boy replied with a naive smile. “My younger sister is already in her
second year of college.” Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Xavier asked, “Why are you here?”
The boy responded, “My dad broke his leg while hiking in the mountains, and he’s in the hospital here. I
came to take care of him.”
“Oh,” Xavier nodded, reaching into his clothes for some cash. “I only have this much money on me.
You take it first, and give me your bank account number, and I’ll transfer some more to you later.” The
boy was startled. “What are you doing?”
Xavier explained, “Your parents worked hard to send you and your sister to school, and now the
hospital bills are expensive. Since I’m good friends with your brother, just think of this money as coming
from him.”
The boy pushed away the cash while saying, “Thank you, but it’s not necessary. We have money, I
mean it, we have money!”
“You just graduated and haven’t started working yet. Where would you have gotten any money?”
Xavier was skeptical.
“Really!” The boy grinned naively. “My brother has been sending money home these past few years,
always giving my parents a fixed sum every month. The money for my sister and me to go to college
came from my brother.”
Xavier was stunned. “Your brother?”
“Yeah!” The boy nodded.
Something clicked in Xavier’s mind, and his hoarse voice became even lower. “How much does he
send you guys every month?”
“Twenty thousand!” the boy said proudly, but with some regret. “He transfers twenty thousand dollars to
my dad every month, but he never comes home. We don’t even know what he’s doing out there.”
Xavier fell silent, deep in thought.
The boy said, “My dad is waiting for me. I have to get back to him.”
Xavier snapped out of it. “Oh, go ahead.”
The boy was about to leave but paused at the door, turning to ask Xavier, “Since you know my brother,
do you know where he is? Is he doing well?”
Xavier’s eyes were tinged with red as he responded, his voice filled with a mixture of sadness and
concern, “He’s doing fine, but he can’t come home for now due to his job. It’s complicated for me to get
in touch with him too. Take good care of your mom, dad, and sister, okay?”
“Alright!” The boy happily left.
After the boy had gone, Xavier took out a cigarette, his hand shaking a bit. It took him a few tries to
light it.
During their time as mercenaries, Tyrannosaurus had mentioned that he sent twenty thousand dollars
home every month, spending the rest on himself. He had a gambling addiction and would head to
casinos whenever they weren’t on a mission. When he died, he didn’t have much money left. So who
had been sending money to his family for all these years?
Xavier took a heavy drag on his cigarette, the smoke swirling around him. He had a vague Idea
already, but still needed confirmation.
Once he finished his cigarette, Xavier made a phone call. “Check on something for me, right away.”
The person on the other end of the call immediately agreed after hearing Xavier’s instructions.
By evening, Xavier received a response. Just as he had suspected, the families of Shadow, Wolf, and
Bat had all been receiving a twenty-thousand-dollar transfer every month for the past few years.
Two years ago, when Wolf’s younger brother got married and bought a house, someone gave his
family two million dollars in Wolf’s name.
A year ago, when Shadow’s mom got sick, they received five hundred thousand dollars for her surgery
in the same manner.
