Chapter 678 I Would Rather Die Than Marry
Amelia had recovered to her normal state and was resting her hands on each side of the washbasin.
Although she seemed weak, she looked much better than before.
When she noticed Skylar coming in and remembered what had happened just now, it made her
nervous and awkward. She regretted her failure to resist her addiction. Now, Skylar had something
against her, and she could destroy her acting career by revealing it to the public.
Amelia tucked stray strands of hair behind her ear and said, “I have low blood sugar.”
Skylar looked at her solemnly and replied, “I understand. Don't worry. I won't tell anyone about your
condition. You are still young, so you should cut the habit if possible. Otherwise, it could ruin your
future.”
Then, she left the washroom.
Amelia watched Skylar walk away and felt envious of her. Unlike Skylar, she had made one wrong
choice after another and regretted them.
Before Skylar left the company, she received a call from Colleen, asking to meet at home.
Skylar refused flatly. “I can't make it. I'm busy.”
Colleen replied, “You must come no matter how busy you are. Also, bring Tobias with you.”
Skylar frowned and hung up. Is Thomas trying to kill himself again? If that's the case, she should have
called the emergency services and not me.
Skylar ignored Colleen's request and did not call Tobias. She felt that her family matters were not worth
mentioning. Furthermore, she would feel embarrassed if he found out about them.
“I would rather die than marry him!” A voice shouted from the second floor before Skylar even stepped
into the house. Then, there was a series of loud crashing noises. Skylar knew it was Avery who
shouted.
Colleen craned her neck to look upstairs while Hayden smoked on the second-floor landing with a hand
on his waist.
Seeing Skylar, Colleen rushed to her and said urgently, “Where is Tobias? I need to ask why he did
this. What was he thinking? How can he be so cruel? Your sister is barely over twenty. How could he Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
bear... How could he do such a thing to her?”
Then, Colleen showed her a photo. Skylar narrowed her eyes when she saw that it was a photo of
Charles. She still could not understand what was going on. From the way Colleen kept demanding to
speak to Tobias, one would have thought that it was Tobias who did something bad to Avery.
“Tobias forced your father to marry Avery to this scoundrel. Skylar, tell me the truth. Is this your idea? If
Avery refused to marry this scoundrel, your father would lose Quest Group. I know you're unhappy with
our family, but how can you be so heartless?” Colleen said and broke out in tears. She pulled out a
handkerchief and kept wiping her tears. It was a pitiful sight.
Skylar was stunned and realized that no one could rival Tobias' hatred for this family.
He gave Thomas an ultimatum, forcing him to choose between his business and family. One of the
choices would consign Avery to eternal damnation.
Skylar thought Thomas doted on Avery and would never let her suffer. However, judging from the
commotion upstairs, she was wrong.
As usual, Skylar's family blamed her for their misfortunes. She looked at Charles' photo again and
considered it briefly before saying, “Not bad. They are quite a good match.”
Colleen was so furious that she could not speak. She had called Skylar over to help and did not expect
her to add fuel to the fire instead.
Hayden threw the cigarette onto the floor, rushed to Skylar, and demanded, “How long will you keep
ruining our family? Are you trying to destroy Avery's future?”
Skylar calmly took a seat on the couch and said with a smile, “Avery brought this upon herself when
she conspired with Charles. From what I can see, they deserve each other. She gave Charles money
and instructed him to arrange for someone to harm me and record a video for her. Since she could do
this, how would marrying Charles ruin her?”
Hayden could not bear hearing Skylar saying anything unsavory about Avery. He pointed at Skylar and
scolded, “Stop slandering Avery. She would never do something like this.”
Colleen also had a look of disbelief.
