Chapter 281
Chapter 281
When Jacob went to find the waiter, his phone rang. Jacob walked to the corner to answer the phone. It
was Xavier who called.
"Where are they?"
"In the hotel."
"Are you there?"
"Yes."
Xavier couldn't come at this time, so he had to let Jacob keep watch.
After hanging up the phone, Jacob went back to the table. The food was ready, and Ryan ate with
relish. Arya was responsible for picking up the food for him, but she had no appetite and barely had two
mouthfuls of soup.
Nanny Joy picked up some food for her. "You have to eat some."
She had to do it for the baby in her belly.
Arya couldn't refuse Nanny Joy, so she ate a little.
After dinner, Arya took Ryan upstairs. Ryan didn't want to, "Mommy, let's go out and play."
"It's getting dark." Arya frowned. The child was willful.
Nanny Joy knew what Ryan was thinking, "It used to be quiet around the villa, but here was crowded,
so he wanted to go out."
"I know there's a park not far away. Do you want to take a walk there?" Jacob said.
"Yes." Afraid of being rejected, Ryan pulled Jacob. "Where is it? Take me there."
Jacob looked at Arya. Ryan didn't give her any chance to refuse. He seemed to be saying that if she
didn't go, he would ask Jacob to go with him.
Nanny Joy held Arya's arm, "Let's go for a walk."
Arya sighed slightly, "Ryan is getting more disobedient."
"He's getting more lively. In our hometown, we think only healthy children can be so energetic." Nanny
Joy said.
The park was big, and there was a pond with many lotus leaves inside. The lotus was already withered,
but the lotus leaves were still green. Not far away was a small boat with a big white goose. Ryan
pointed and asked, "Can I play with that?"
Jacob said, "Sure."
He looked at Arya and promised, "I'll take care of him."
Ryan urged, "Let's go..."
Ryan dragged Jacob.
Arya walked for a while and sat down on the stone chair.
Nanny Joy asked, "Are you tired?"
Arya said, "A little."
The bigger the belly was, the more tired she felt.
Ryan rowed the boat and bought a water gun, which could shoot very high.
Ryan was in good spirits and didn't feel tired after playing for a long time. Arya asked Jacob to take
Ryan to her. The doctor said that Ryan couldn't use up his energy like this. He had to rest more. He
didn't sleep today.
Jacob was afraid that Ryan wouldn't want to, so he coaxed Ryan, "Ryan, let's go back today. I'll take
you to a more interesting place when you recover."
Ryan tilted his head and thought about it. Finally, he nodded and said, "Okay, but don't forget."
Jacob said sincerely, "I won't forget. I'll bear it in mind."
Back at the hotel, Nanny Joy bathed Ryan. After that, he fell asleep by himself, probably tired from
playing.
Arya stood in front of the french window of the bedroom and looked down at the night scenery of the
entire W City. The night scenery was more imposing than the day scenery. The towering buildings and
flashing neon lights showed the prosperity of the city.
It was quiet in the room. Arya couldn't sleep, so she closed the bedroom door and walked to the living
room. She sat on the sofa as if she was waiting for something.
She knew that Xavier would come back today.
The night was getting darker, and Arya fell asleep before Xavier arrived.
Xavier did come back. He just didn't come in.
He stood at the end of the corridor, and the lights outside flickered on and off his face.
Jacob lowered his head. "When Ryan was still in the hospital, he went to the hospital to harass Arya,
and then I arranged for someone to guard there. Rufus went there but never went in. Rufus probably
took the photos in the ward the first time he went there. I didn't expect Rufus to be so shameless..."
"Didn't she live in the villa after I left?" Xavier put a cigarette in his mouth.
Jacob quickly took out a lighter and lit it for him.
"She didn't live in the villa. And she didn't let me tell you..."
Xavier looked up and raised the corners of his eyes slightly.
Jacob quickly explained, "I had to listen to her."
Xavier puffed smoke and said indifferently, "Jacob, how long have you been working for me?"
Jacob lowered his head, "Almost ten years." Jacob knew that Xavier was angry. He couldn't escape
punishment, "It's my fault..."
Xavier looked out the window, and his eyes flashed with anger. "The old man of the Gates Family will
retire in two months. I don't want him to retire smoothly. Do you understand what I mean?"
Jacob took a breath, "Yes."
Xavier turned to look at him, "If you don't do well this time, don't come to see me."
Jacob said, "I won't let you down."
He knew that this was his chance to atone.
Xavier pressed the cigarette butt into the pot and walked towards the room.
Walking to the door, Xavier put his hand on the doorknob for a moment before twisting the handle and
pushing the door open.
It was quiet, and the lights were on.
He looked at the sleeping person on the sofa, and he stopped. He didn't know how to face her.
He knew that Arya was strong. If she agreed to leave, someone must have forced her, or she really
couldn't hold on.
He walked over slowly.
Squatting beside her, he reached out and touched her face. His thumb gently brushed the corner of her
eyes. Her face seemed to itch. Arya moved slightly. Xavier quickly withdrew his hand, afraid that he
would wake her up.
Arya moved as if she couldn't find a comfortable position. Xavier sat beside her, put her head on his
lap, and stroked her arm to coax her to sleep... Arya tilted her head, found a comfortable position, and
continued to sleep.
Xavier looked at her and pinned the hair on her face behind her ear. He muttered, "Did you miss me
when I was away?"
Arya frowned. She heard the noise.
Xavier looked at her frown and smiled. He lowered his head to kiss her lips. His kiss was gentle, and he
whispered in her ear in a deep and seductive tone, "I miss you so much..."
Arya's eyelashes trembled, and she slowly opened her eyes...This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
