You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie)

Chapter 426

Chapter 426

Although Marcellus knew from the beginning that Amelia and Skylar were involved in the same case,

out of politeness, he allowed Amelia to finish her side of the story.

After she finished speaking, Marcellus opened his mouth and said, "I've already agreed to represent

President Holland. I'm sorry."

By saying this, he implied that Skylar had come to see him over this case.

Amelia was very dissatisfied. After all, everyone said that Marcellus was the best lawyer in A City.

There was almost no hope for this case. If she didn't find the best lawyer, things would only go

downhill. Amelia took out a check and handed it to Marcellus, saying, "How much did he give you? I'll

give you double!"

Marcellus glanced at the check in Amelia's hand. The number on it was at least five or six digits. He

smiled and said, "Madam Harington, I am President Holland's personal lawyer and he pays my bill

annually. I can't lose my job because of you."

Hearing this, Amelia's expression changed drastically. She did not expect the best lawyer in A City to

be Skylar's personal lawyer.

However, she knew that Marcellus was the best. If the defending lawyer was Marcellus, the probability

of engaging other lawyers to win would be much smaller.

"Mr. Klein..." Amelia sat there and looked at Marcellus. As she thought about what Valerie had gone

through, tears welled up in her eyes. She said, "Valerie was framed by Skylar. As a lawyer, shouldn't

there be a moral compass in you? You shouldn't just help simply anyone, right?"

Amelia had no other choice now. She wanted to see if she could convince Marcellus.

Although, she knew that it was obviously Valerie's fault.

Seeing that Amelia was about to cry, Marcellus's expression did not change. He only smiled and said,

"Madam Harington, I've been working with President Holland for many years. I trust him, so you don't

have to say these things."

"You trust him? How do you think my daughter, a daughter from a rich family, got involved in kidnapping

his wife and mother? The Rae family is doing very well. We have no limits at all."

Tears rolled down Amelia's face as she spoke, drenching the thick layer of powder on her face. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

"Oh, Madam Harington, I have come across many people like you. Among those who come looking for

a lawyer, some of them are fine, but some are just flukes."

When Marcellus said the word "flukes", he looked up at Amelia.

The meaning of his words was already very clear.

Amelia was evidently a fluke.

"Mr. Klein, if you only care about money, so be it. Don't try to assess my character like this. Since you

don't want to help me, I will find someone else. It will prove that your guess is wrong."

After Amelia finished speaking, she used a tissue to wipe away her tears. She lifted her bag and

walked out.

Marcellus did not send her off. He stood up and looked at Amelia's back. He said, "Wait quietly for good

news."

After Amelia left the Kleinbery Law Firm, she went around looking for more reputable law firms.

However, it seemed as though they were aware that Marcellus was the defending lawyer on the case.

No one was willing to accept this case because they deemed it a loss.

When Amelia was almost in despair, she received a phone call. The person claimed to be a lawyer and

wanted to know about this case.

At that moment, Amelia was already in despair. Although his voice sounded young, she could only

agree to meet the person.

The meeting time agreed upon by her and the lawyer was three o'clock in the afternoon the next day.

The next day, when Amelia arrived at the appointed cafe, she found a very handsome young man in

the seat. She could not help but look down on him. "It's you?"

"Are you looking down on me?"

The man sat there, crossed his legs and was dressed in casual clothes. He did not look like a powerful

lawyer at all.

"I don't want to waste time."

Amelia sized up the young man in front of her, turned around and was about to leave.

However, just as she turned around, the man behind her said, "Auntie Harington, go ahead.

I don't mind if you come to me later."

After the man said that, he silently lowered his head and took a sip of the coffee in front of him,

appearing to be in an unfazed and unhurried state.

Amelia understood what he meant. In fact, if it was not for the fact that all the lawyers had refused to

defend Valerie, she would not have made up her mind to meet this person whom she had found.

She thought for a while and just as she was almost at the door, she sat down.

"Auntie Harington, you are smart."

The man tilted his head and looked at Amelia who was over 50 years old. He smiled faintly and gave

her a charming smile.

"Auntie, my name is Yoel Jakeman. Don't judge me because I'm young. I know how to act

unconventionally."

Yoel took out a business card and placed it in front of Amelia.

Amelia lowered her head and looked at the business card in front of her. Behind Yoel's name was the

word "lawyer". However she still asked doubtfully, "Are you a lawyer?"

It was obvious that she would believe that this man was a lawyer, but the title "lawyer" did not seem to

suit him.

"That's right, a newcomer."

"A newcomer? It's such an important case. Why should I hand it to a newbie like you?" Hearing the

newcomer's words, Amelia was so angry that she regretted her decision to sit down.

"Auntie Harington, in this case, your opponent is the President of Skyton Corporation, Skylar Holland.

The defending lawyer is Marcellus Klein. In A City, forget a newcomer like myself, any smart lawyer will

not take this case."

Yoel's tone was very friendly. He was over 1.8 meters tall and he sat on the chair in the cafe. He

appeared completely unruffled.

He was right.

Amelia looked at Yoel and was hesitant. However, looking at the handsome face of the young lawyer in

front of her, she could not bear to reject him. Hence, she asked, "Then why do you want to take on this

case?"

"Because I need a reputation."

Yoel looked at Amelia with bright eyes. There was a bright temperament on his young and handsome

face.

His face was one that was most beloved among the young ladies.

"If you lose, your reputation will be ruined."

"I'm willing to ruin my reputation for an elegant lady like you, Auntie Harington."

"You! What are you talking about?"

Amelia's face turned red when she heard that. It had been many years since a man had said

something like that to her.

Although over the years she had always been dressed up very elegantly and had always been very

feminine, Hector did not pay attention to her at all.

However, at that moment, Yoel's words hit Amelia's heart.

He didn't say that she was beautiful, graceful, or matured. He described her as elegant, and those

words struck right into her heart.

"I'm just kidding, Auntie Harington. I didn't just say that so that you'll let me take this case."

Yoel looked at Amelia with his beautiful eyes.

Under his gaze, Amelia felt the urge to agree. She thought it through once in her head before she

replied rationally, "This case is related to my daughter's life. I can't hand it over to a young lawyer like

you!"

Amelia said that and left with her bag.

This time, she really left, but she didn't forget to take Yoel's business card before she left.

Yoel watched her back, and his expression was full of mockery. Soon, another man at another table sat

down and said, "Why did she leave? Yoel, did the man who prides himself as a heartbreaker of middle-

aged

women, lose?"
