Chapter 171
Chapter 171
Coralie's body was wrapped in the sheets and Skylar was holding her in his arms. She finally relaxed
as she leaned on his chest and sniffed the faint minty scent on him.
She could feel her head spinning. She closed her eyes and felt Skylar's heartbeat and the strong, large
hands that were holding on to her.
This seemed to be her biggest source of security.
Behind him, Franklin looked at Valerie, who was sitting on her wheelchair at the side, "We're heading to Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
the hospital. You should go back to the banquet."
"I'll come along too."
Valerie Rae thought for a while and decided to follow them.
Jasper Zac, who was standing next to her, also said,
"I'm going too."
As soon as Jasper opened his mouth, Franklin looked at him and said with a faint smile in his attractive
eyes, "Miss Rae, you're indeed remarkable. You managed to wrap President Zac around your finger in
just a few hours."
That was exactly Valerie's charm.
When men met her for the first time, they would generally form a good impression of her. Franklin was
no less different.
Jasper seemed visibly unhappy, but he did not refute.
Valerie looked at Jasper with a complicated expression, "This, this is our family affairs. I wouldn't want
to trouble you."
However, Jasper had made up his mind, "It's fine."
At this moment, Franklin had already sent his date back. The three of them went to the hospital in a car
with Franklin as the driver.
Coralie was sent in for an examination after arriving at the hospital.
Skylar stood there and made a phone call to arrange for Hayes' interrogation
Jasper accompanied Valerie, and Franklin also stood aside.
Valerie looked as Skylar walked over, his face solemn. She said softly, "Skylar, don't worry. Everything
will be fine."
Valerie was not stupid. Both Skylar and Franklin had suspected her from before, so she had to clear
their suspicion.
Skylar looked at Valerie. He was full of suspicions at this matter. From Hayes' words, it was obvious
that he was instructed by someone, but he was not sure if that person was Valerie.
The Holland family was unstable now. Anthony Holland had specifically asked him to build a good
relationship with the Zac family so the latter could help them in the electronic industry, as well as to
expand their business in B City.
Franklin knew Skylar's concerns. He stood aside and looked at Jasper. A thought struck him suddenly
and he reached out to take off Jasper's glasses!
"What are you doing?"
Jasper looked gentle with his glasses on, but as soon as he took it off, his temperament changed
immediately. He looked fierce, even with a hint of evil.
It had never crossed Franklin's mind. He was shocked and quickly returned the glasses to Jasper.
Then, he said with embarrassment, "I just thought that you look quite like Coralie. Thus, I wanted to
see you without your glasses..."
After he said that, Valerie and Skylar couldn't help but focus their attention on Jasper.
Especially Skylar, and his heart skipped a beat. He thought of the album in Coralie's house...
Coralie was seen wearing a unique little golden lock of the Zac family in one of her baby pictures.
"We don't look alike at all!"
In fact, Valerie had told Jasper about her disability pitifully so as to haul sympathy out of him, and it led
to Jasper's bad impression of Coralie.
He even thought that Coralie was hypocritical and annoying. From his point of view, Skylar had a bad
taste for refusing Valerie and liking Coralie instead.
"Well, you look like her with your glasses on, but without it, you guys don't look alike at all."
Franklin said while studying Jasper, who was putting his glasses back on. A thought came into his
mind.
Why did Jasper look so different without his glasses?
......
Harvey Felton came out of the examination room about an hour later. He said to Skylar, "Apart from the
bruises, her condition is not serious. However, she has a minor concussion. She needs to stay here for
a few days for further observation."
"Anything else?"
Skylar stood at the side and asked with a slightly obscure expression.
"What do you mean?" Harvey looked at Skylar with a puzzled look. When he thought of Coralie's
appearance when she was sent here, he seemed to understand what Skylar meant. He patted him on
the shoulder and said, "Nothing else, don't worry."
Skylar was slightly relieved.
Valerie, who was not far away, also heard this sentence. She grabbed hard at the switch of the
wheelchair, and the blue veins on the back of her hand were bulging. With a gloomy expression, she
murmured, "It's fine if you're caught, but you even failed to take advantage of her. Such a useless
man!"
Jasper was standing behind Valerie. When he heard her muttering to herself, he didn't put much
thought into it.
Skylar looked at the three of them and said, "Thanks. I'll stay here tonight. You all should head back
first."
Those words were meant for Jasper.
After all, Skylar was tasked to build a good relationship with Jasper.
When the three of them left, Skylar went to the ward alone.
Coralie held the quilt and asked, "Did I get you into trouble again?"
"No."
Skylar looked at Coralie, who was injured, dejectedly. In fact, he wanted to ask more about what had
happened, but he didn't know how or where to start.
However, Coralie was more anxious than him as she held Skylar's hand. She hesitated before saying,
"Skylar, I'm just guessing, so please don't be angry."
"Okay."
"I think Valerie is involved in this matter,." Coralie didn't know if Skylar would be angry, but she still
wanted to say it, "I was wary of her at first, but I thought that I had misunderstood her all this while after
hearing what she had said today. Thus, I dropped my guard... I didn't expect..."
The reason for Coralie heading there had been told by Valerie before.
Moreover, even if Coralie did not mention it, Skylar was bound to suspect Valerie.
After all, considering all the things that had happened before, Valerie appeared to be a scheming
woman.
"Don't worry," Skylar reached out and touched Coralie's slightly swollen cheek gently, "I'll personally
find someone to investigate this matter. I wouldn't be at ease if I were to hand it over to the police."
"Thank you."
Coralie was finally felt at ease.
......
Valerie, Jasper, and Franklin left the hospital together. Franklin proposed to send Jasper back to the
hotel, but Jasper refused.
Franklin did not want to be a third wheel, so he drove away.
After they all left, Valerie wheeled herself to Jasper's side. She pulled his sleeve and said
apologetically, "President Zac, I'm sorry. I've wasted your time today. Do you have time tomorrow? I'll
go shopping in A City with you."
Jasper looked at Valerie. Under the moonlight, the woman's small face and delicate makeup made her
features even more prominent. His heartbeat raced as he said, "Your father is planning our marriage.
Therefore, you don't have to be so self-conscious in front of me."
