Chapter 162
Chapter 162
Jamie George was in school when Queenie Holland called her and asked her to go home. She asked,
"Why?"
"I have something to ask you."
"Couldn't you just ask about it over the phone?"
"No, come back quickly."
Queenie was besieged with a sense of crisis when she recalled Valerie's words.
After all, there were a lot of rumors about Coralie in the Holland family. Nevertheless, Jamie had a good
impression of Coralie and Queenie had initially thought that Coralie was a great person too.
Even though that was the case, she only felt that way because it had nothing to do with her own family
before that.
Everything had become different now that it was related to her family.
"I had already promised my friend to play games today. I can't go back home right now."
Jamie had invited Wayne to go to the Internet café that day.
Wayne would usually work or accompany his family whenever he had free time. Therefore, when Jamie
wanted to play games with him, she had to make an appointment in advance, as if she was meeting a
corporate leader.
"Games? You could play games any other day!"
Queenie frowned. She didn't expect that Jamie would refuse to go home for this trivial reason.
"The game could be played anytime, but the friend whom I had made an appointment with is very busy.
He's only free today."
A question then popped into Queenie's mind. She took the opportunity to ask, "Is your friend a boy or a
girl?"
"Boy... friend. A male friend."
As soon as Jamie said the word 'boy friend', she quickly clarified it as she thought that it sounded
misleading.
Just this single point was enough to convince Queenie that Jamie must have a good relationship with a
boy. However, she didn't know if the boy in question was Coralie's younger brother, whom Valerie had
just mentioned.
"Bring him home then. There are a few computers at home. Why must you go to the Internet café?
There are so many people smoking there. It's a mess."
Queenie was an open-minded mother.
Jamie liked to play games and skateboard, and she hated playing the piano and painting. Queenie did
not think that it was a big deal and she had never opposed her daughter's preferences.
However, it was different this time. It was related to her daughter's happiness.
"No, no. I'm worried that he'll feel shy."
In fact, Jamie and Wayne were in an ambiguous relationship. Although Wayne had confessed to her,
she had yet to give him an answer.
She had intended to give him an answer that day, but she didn't expect that her mother would ask her
to go home all of a sudden.
"Come back by yourself then."
"I'm not going home!"
"Jamie, you weren't like this before."
In fact, Jamie's temper had always been the same. She was straightforward and blunt. She would
make her intentions clear if she was not willing to do anything.
However, Queenie felt extremely uneasy when Jamie refused to come home. She wondered if it really
was the boy from the Chariott family who had said something to Jamie and resulted in her being this
disobedient.
"Mom, why are you being so persistent?
"Bring the boy back home then. Since you already have a boyfriend, why don't you just admit to it
then?"
The more Queenie thought about it, the more pestered she was by it. Finally, she decided to come
clean and ask Jamie to bring the boy home so she could meet him.
After all, Queenie had met countless people all her life. No matter how scheming the young man was,
he would not be able to deceive her.
Jamie did not expect Queenie to say such a thing. She stammered, "Mom... he, he's not my boyfriend
yet."
"Fine. In that case, come home now, so that your father and I could take a look at him for you!"
Queenie said without giving Jamie any time to hesitate. She said, "Bring him back. I'll hang up first. I'm
going to call the kitchen staff to cook up some good dishes."
After that, she hung up the phone.
Jamie was still holding the phone, her expression filled with horror.
Her mother insisted on her bringing Wayne back home. She and Wayne were now in an undefinable
relationship. How could she bring him if he was not her boyfriend yet?
However, at this moment, Wayne had already arrived.
He looked at Jamie guiltily, "I'm sorry, you must have waited for a long time. My sister sent me to run
some errands."
Jamie knew that Wayne's sister was Coralie. Thus, she kept quiet.
"Oh..." Jamie held her mobile phone and hesitated. She looked at Wayne and stammered, "Wayne, I
don't know what's wrong with my mother, but she insisted that I go home right now."
Wayne thought that Jamie wanted to go home, therefore he didn't ask her to stay. He said very happily,
"You should go back then. I'll take you to the subway station."
In fact, Jamie had been pretending to be an ordinary person in the university. She had never let the
driver pick her up. She would always take public transport such as the bus or the subway. She would
always buy affordable clothes. It was hard to tell that she was from a rich family.
"Okay."
Along the way, Jamie thought of ways to tell Wayne about her mother's insistence on having her bring
him home.
However, Jamie still didn't say anything even though they had reached the subway station.
Finally, the train arrived and Wayne said, "Be careful on the road."
"Okay, let's meet next time."
Jamie looked at Wayne and didn't say anything in the end.
She then went home alone.
......
When Jamie entered the house, Queenie kept looking behind her. Jamie closed the door, and only then
Queenie was sure that Jamie didn't bring anyone home.
"Didn't I ask you to bring your boyfriend back? home"
Although she had said so, Queenie knew that Jamie would not bring him back.
"I've told you that he's not my boyfriend, " When she got home, Jamie changed her shoes and asked,
"Why did you call me to come home?" This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
"I missed you."
Queenie said deliberately.
"Tell me something more believable. You were busy playing poker all day long. Why would you miss
me all of sudden?"
Queenie and Jamie had a close relationship, so they usually conversed in a casual tone.
"Someone told me that my daughter is in a relationship, so I was curious. I knew that I needed to ask
you about it."
Queenie was smart. She didn't say anything about Valerie Rae. Instead, she asked Jamie indirectly.
If Wayne was not that kind of person, and she judged him badly beforehand, it would affect her
relationship with Jamie.
"Who told you about it? We're just friends. What nonsense are you talking about?"
Jamie denied.
"Show me his photos then."
"Fine."
Jamie took out her mobile phone and showed Wayne's pictures to Queenie.
Most of the photos were taken from strange angles except for a couple of photos. They looked blurry,
but it could be seen that the boy was tall and handsome. He looked very bright.
"Why are they all shot secretly?"
Queenie was accurate.
"He is the most handsome among the freshmen. Actually, I'm chasing after him. You are impatient and
you even asked me to take him home. What if he got scared away when he sees that our family is
rich?"
Not only was Wayne good-looking and muscular, he even played basketball well. He was charming and
upbeat. He was popular among the university girls.
Jamie had fancied him for a long time, but she didn't dare to confess her feelings yet.
"What? He doesn't know that our family is rich?"
Queenie was surprised.
