When I Met You

Chapter 24 The Truth

Chapter 24 The Truth

Susan had no idea how to reply to Edward's question.

She touched her right cheek, thought for a while, and said, "So, you already know?"

"Know what?"

Susan giggled a little awkwardly, "I... sorry about that."

For hitting your true love.

But Susan didn't say that part out loud, she didn't know what else she could say. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Susan was never the person who would hit others, she wouldn't have slapped Vanessa, but for some

reason, she couldn't endure it.

After Susan apologized for her behavior, Edward didn't say a single word of blaming Susan, he only

said, "Get some cream to apply on your cheek."

"Okay."

After saying that, Susan was about to hang up the phone.

She didn't get the chance to do so when right in that moment, she heard a childish voice yell out loud,

"You are all lying, my dad, he is the king of the forest!"

"..."

Susan got so scared that she immediately hung up.

She turned and went for Ruby, she saw that Ruby had closed her eyes, but her face showed how

stubborn she was, ready to fight with those children again.

Susan couldn't help but to laugh.

She reached out her hand and tried to even out the lines on Ruby's little angry face, then she sent a

message to Edward, ‘The child of my colleague was talking in her dream.’

Edward replied, ‘No need to explain, I won't think that you are hiding a child outside.’

Susan saw it and replied, ‘Stop it!’

Edward didn't answer anymore, so Susan put her phone back in the pocket, then she turned to check

on Ruby.

She remembered what Tina told her, should she go and find a father for Ruby?

As she thought about that, she fell asleep.

The second day, just as Susan woke up, she took Ruby to wash up, then she put her back on the bed,

and read a book to her, in that moment, the door to the ward opened.

A man, a little older than Susan herself, very neatly dressed with a pair of golden framed glasses, came

in, he looked exactly like one would imagine the looks of a doctor.

He was holding a bouquet in one hand, and a Barbie doll in the other.

"Excuse me, you are...?"

Susan looked around, she and Ruby were the only ones in the room in that moment, the other child

who was there last night had been transferred to a different ward.

She didn't recognize this man, so she thought he must have walked to the wrong ward.

But the man pushed his glasses up, and went towards Susan, reaching out a hand to shake with her.

Susan was perplexed.

"Hello, you must be Dr. Susan, I am Dr. Bronson Jones."

"Yeah, I am Susan."

Susan blinked, and looked at the person standing in front of her.

"I am a doctor at the children's hospital, I know Tina from a research meeting."

"So you are here for Tina?"

Susan didn't understand, "Tina is in Z City for a meeting."

"No, Ms. White, you misunderstood, I am here for you."

"Me?"

Susan was even more startled, she didn't understand what the man was there for.

The man took his sweet time to explain to her. He pushed his glasses up again, and said, "I graduated

from ZS Medical University with a Masters degree, I am 34 years old, widowed, no kids."

"Okay..."

Susan didn't know what to answer to that.

She wanted to wait for Bronson to finish saying his speech, but she really didn't have the patience for

that, so she bit her teeth, and asked him, "So, why are you here?"

"Blind date. Do you have something to say to introduce yourself?"

Bronson looked at her in all seriousness.

Susan immediately understood when he said that, it was all Tina's idea!

"Uhm... I think there must be a misunderstanding."

Susan hesitated and then said, "I think... I don't..."

But before she could explain herself, she heard another sound outside, someone was rushing along

the hall from afar closer to their ward, it sounded in a hurry.

The person came towards the room, pushed open the door, and Susan noticed that it was Kendra, but

right in that moment, she already reached out to slap Susan.

Susan felt immediate pain on her face.

She was about to hit back, but Kendra's guard pushed her hand away.

Kendra then finally said, "I hope you will have some self dignity, are you going to harass Jarvis

forever?"

"What do you mean by that, why don't you ask him who has been harassing who?"

"Bah, really, I don't know what you have done for my son to cancel his wedding for you."

"Let me tell you, Susan, I haven't allowed you to enter our family before, and now you still don't have a

chance, you low life woman!"

Susan suddenly understood it all. With time, the room was getting busier, and Ruby, who was beside

her and heard it all, was so scared that she cried.

Susan didn't even bother Kendra, she pretended as if Kendra's words weren't even about her, turned

around to hug Ruby, then she calmly went to Bronson.

"Mr. Jones, can you please take care of this little patient for me, take her out into the yard for a walk."

Susan has only met Bronson once, but she knew Tina well enough, if she wants to introduce him to

Susan, that means that she could trust him.

She was more than happy to have him take care of Ruby.

Ruby was still crying, but she was a very understanding child, after Susan told her to go with Bronson,

Ruby did as told. Susan then turned around.

But this time, as soon as Susan turned around, her face was cold and angry.

She calmly walked to Kendra, and looked at her as she took her phone to call the reception in the

company.

"Mr. Ford needs security in the First Hospital, pediatrics ward 301."

As she said that, she hung up the phone.

Then she turned to look at Kendra.

"I am telling you, it won't help if you call security."

"Don't worry about that, you don't need to be scared, they are not here to beat you up, just to suppress

you, so we can talk quietly."

"You!"

Kendra was so angry that she was trembling all over, about to hit Susan again.

This time, Susan took a step back, then said, "Since you want to discuss this with me, then let's do that

today. But I don't think just the two of us will be enough..."

When she said that, Susan took her phone and made another call.

She said into the phone, "Jarvis, I am in the First Hospital, pediatrics room 301, didn't you ask me why I

married Edward? Come here, I will tell you the truth."
