Chapter 59
Chapter 59
Brett looked at the shattered glass next to the trash can, his brow furrowing deeply.
He was rough with Izabella, his raging anger leaving no room for tenderness, and besides, Izabella didn't deserve it.
On the balcony, Izabella looked at the dazzling light reflected by the broken glass in the moonlight and laughed.
Brett's eyes darkened, the laugh instantly hitting his sensitive nerve. He let go, and Izabella wobbled and fell to her knees.
"Brett, are you going to do to me what you did before?"
Brett's face stiffened, then he said, "If you apologize to Kaley, I'll let you go."
"Apologize?" Izabella ignored the pain in her knee, and she looked up to see Brett's black eyes, her own filled with tears.
"I'm indeed wrong," Izabella's throat tightened, she swallowed down, trembling voice said, "I shouldn't have liked you, shouldn't have married you, shouldn't have given blood to Kaley, shouldn't have gambled four years on an unknown outcome!"
Her eyes misted up with tears, making them even more bright black, reflecting Brett's figure, hatred, and sadness.
Brett resisted the urge to lift his hand to cover her eyes. How come such bright eyes suddenly lost their light?
His heart was torn, but thinking of Kaley in the hospital, his temporary sympathy vanished.
Izabella knew she couldn't escape tonight, and expressionlessly watched Brett's emotionless actions. She wanted to stand up, but she didn't have the strength.
Brett looked down at Izabella, saying the most heartbreaking words of the night, "Izabella, you're right, it's all your own fault." Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Izabella laughed, her lips curved into an alluring smile, but her tears flowed even more violently. She seemed to see a beautiful illusion, but before she could sink into it, Brett shattered it with a knife.
She didn't even know when Brett left. Only when the glaring light downstairs shone on the window did she come back to her senses.
She squinted her eyes, filled with love and tenderness, watching the dazzling light disappear.
She leaned against the window, her hand moving, as if to catch that light.
Finally, the surroundings plunged into darkness, and the only sounds she could hear were the night's frogs croaking, the wind blowing, and crickets chirping.
"Brett...congratulations, you've completely drained all my love for you."
Izabella carefully picked up the glass on the ground and threw it away, then took off her coat and laid it on the floor before carefully sitting down. It was so cold.
When the heart is cold, the whole body is cold. Izabella hugged herself with one arm and buried her face in her knees.
Maybe it's better to just die this time...
Izabella leaned against the window and gazed at the stars outside. People said that after death, they turn into stars in the sky. Which one belonged to her parents? And would she become one too?
