Twisted Ties of Love

Chapter 473

Izabella patted him on his head with an affectionate tone. "Just focus on your acting. I'll handle the rest."

Aside from work and romance, Izabella's favorite pastime was taking down her enemies.

And she was the best at it. Casey once told her not to dirty her hands, reassuring her that he could handle anything for her, even murder if needed. But Izabella didn't want that. In her eyes, Casey was like a clean sheet of paper.

In her previous life, Izabella had witnessed the dirtiest and most ruthless aspects of life, particularly in the cutthroat world of business.

Business competition was no cleaner than the entertainment industry, and she had encountered even dirtier tactics, as exemplified by Brett.

Whenever she thought of him, the words that came to mind were "ruthless and cold-blooded".

She knew precisely how to deliver the most significant blow to an enemy with the smallest cost. Casey trusted Izabella unconditionally; if she said she could handle it, then she could. "Recently, there are quite a few things have been happening in J City."

"Is Nathaniel in trouble? Or is it Brett?" Izabella asked.

Casey cast a glance at Izabella, impressed by her quick reaction.

It wasn't that Izabella was quick on the uptake. J City was dominated by Nathaniel and Brett, and she was now part of the business world, so even if she didn't want to seek out information, some news would reach her ears.

"It's Nathaniel, but Brett is involved, too. The cooperation he had previously arranged was thwarted by Brett. Now, his position is unstable, Some of the shareholders and partners who had deep connections with Patrick Windham in the past intend to replace him and collaborate with Brett instead."

There was no doubt Brett played a role in all of this.

Izabella smirked, a hint of mockery in her tone. "He got what he deserved."

She had anticipated a confrontation between Brett and Nathaniel, but she hadn't expected Nathaniel to be so easily defeated.

If Brett managed to take over Nathaniel's business, it wouldn't be good news for Izabella.

Izabella couldn't help but feel a sense of worry, and Casey sensed her change in mood. He reached out to hold her wrist, gently pulling her into his embrace. "What's wrong?"

Izabella shook her head as she sat on his lap. "I just don't understand. Even if Nathaniel is incapacitated, his downfall shouldn't have happened so swiftly."

"It would have taken longer if Brett was acting alone. But with my father's involvement, Nathaniel was attacked from both sides," Casey explained.

So it was due to Beck's interference. It wasn't hard to guess why he would do this.

Most likely, it had something to do with her conversation with Bunny. Bunny must have tell Beck about their talk, and when Beck investigated, he found out that Nathaniel was the one who had hurt Casey years ago. Ironically, they had treated Nathaniel as a benefactor and even gave Nathaniel their shares in the Windham Group.

"How do you think the old man suddenly targeted Nathaniel?"

It took Izabella a moment to realize that by "the old man," Casey was referring to Beck.

"Maybe Mr. Beck just took a dislike to him," Izabella said as pondered the situation, thinking about how Brett had systematically driven the Salotti Group into a corner. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

"How's Mrs. Bunny's relationship with Brett?"

From the moment Casey first laid eyes on Brett, he felt an inexplicable hostility towards him. As time passed, his aversion only grew.

He didn't understand why until he met Izabella - he and Brett were natural rivals.

However, he was the only one in the family who didn't get along with Brett. His mother was quite fond of him and often invited Brett over for dinner, to the point that he started visiting the Dempsey family less and less.

It was more accurate to say that Bunny felt guilty toward Brett rather than being fond of him.

"Mum feels guilty towards Brett. She

thinks she failed to fulfill her responsibility as an aunt to take care of Brett after the death of her brother. Also, she once held shares in the Windham family. When Brett and Nathaniel were fighting over the family assets, she gave her shares to Nathaniel." This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

In terms of blood relations, Brett was Bunny's true nephew, born to her brother and sister-in-law, while Nathaniel was the illegitimate son of an extramarital affair.

At the time, everyone had expected Bunny to support Brett. But instead, she chose to give her support to Nathaniel, allowing him to inherit the Windham family.

Casey wasn't aware of these details, but Izabella quickly pieced them together.

Nathaniel had brought the injured Casey to Bunny, who, in gratitude for her help, was willing to give up her shares.

Casey had heard his mom say that the Windham family was different from the Dempsey family. Even among relatives, they only focused on their interests and lacked genuine emotional connections. Emotions were considered a weakness among them.

Patrick had raised his children this way from a young age, and he continued the same approach with his grandchildren, even after his own children had left one by one.

Brett's parents had met tragic ends at the hands of their own family members. Bunny didn't have an easy time in the Windham family, and her marriage to the Dempsey family was initially a high-society alliance. It was by sheer coincidence that she found true love in the process, making her one of the luckiest members of the Windham family.
