Chapter 2077
Chapter 2077
"Fine, I screwed up. You finally have a chance to tease me now." Gary wasn't angry as he looked at Heinz. After all, he did make a mistake and deserved the teasing.
From Gary's dejected look, Heinz understood that Gary had suffered a great blow.
All his focus was on Celeste, so Heinz stopped teasing his son.
"Honestly, you're making it a bit hard to tease you any further." Heinz chuckled and complained good-naturedly.
"You know where Celeste is, right?" Gary asked again.
"Yes." Heinz nodded. "I have everything under control. Don't you know that?"
"She went to Jenevo City," Gary replied.
Heinz burst into laughter. "Son, that's only half true."
Gary was shocked and asked, "Did something else happen? Did she get off halfway?"
Heinz nodded. "Yeah, that's what happened. She got off at a city about three thousand miles away from Jenevo City."
"Where?" Gary asked nervously.
"Esote City," Heinz said in a low voice.
Gary was stunned. "Esote City?"
She'd gotten off the train at a stop so close to Northern City. Celeste truly intended on avoiding him.
Gary was astonished.
Heinz replied, "I think you should give Celeste some space. You two need time to calm down, sort yourselves out."
Gary remained silent for a long time, not saying a word.
Several minutes later, Gary finally spoke. "I won't see her if she's doing okay."
"Do you think that she'll be fine if you don't see her? Her studies are paused halfway. Is she going to give up just like that?" Heinz asked. Gary was rendered speechless.
He thought that Celeste was ready to leave her studies unfinished this time as he'd hurt her too deeply.
Gary forced a smile. "I don't have the right to see her anymore."
He didn't deserve to.
Heinz frowned.
The secretary returned shortly. After knocking and entering the room, she said respectfully to Heinz, "President, Miss Simpson has left." "Are you sure?" Heinz asked.
"I'm sure. I had someone make sure Miss Simpson left the company building and hail a cab before I came back," The secretary replied.
"I'm afraid it's not that simple." Gary's eyes narrowed. "Janice is not someone who gives up easily."
Heinz nodded in agreement. Although he'd only just met Janice, Heinz could discern her true nature at a glance.
She was obsessed with Gary, so she wouldn't give him up so easily.
Heinz ordered in a solemn voice, "Keep an eye on her just in case."
"Of course, sir." The secretary sobered up as well.
"Have Clinton contact me," Heinz commanded.
"All right." The secretary left quickly.
Clinton arrived very quickly.
He greeted Heinz and Gary upon seeing them. "President, Master Gary." "Clinton, how's your investigation going?" Heinz
asked.
Heinz had arranged for Clinton to investigate Janice's family, so he had made some preparations in advance.
"It's going fine. The Simpson family moved to the United States roughly over a decade ago, and she doesn't have many relatives left in Northern City. She's here for Master Gary alone."
Gary frowned and asked Heinz, "When did you find out? How did you know about this? Did you send someone to spy on me?"
"What's the point?" Heinz asked. "News always leaks out. Did you think that you're able to keep it from us?"
"Lowell must have told you about it." Gary couldn't think of any other way.
Lowell must have told Gary's
parents about it when he returned to Northern City. He was someone who staunchly refused to go home, so it was odd that he would suddenly go home.
Heinz didn't say anything, indicating that Gary's assumption was true. Gary snorted, "Lowell is such a failure."
He understood what had happened right away. Heinz must have realized something was wrong and interrogated Lowell.
Heinz gave Clinton a look and said, "Keep an eye on the Andrews family next."
"Right away, sir," Clinton replied.
He left soon after.
Heinz speculated that Janice didn't really have much support in Northern City, so she had to turn to the Andrews family for help.
She was still wanting to make use of Xyrion.
After all, she had been using him for a long time.
In return, Xyrion made himself beneficial to her.
It was normal for people to be greedy.
Janice was trying to use the Andrews family to achieve her goals.
"Yandrea's family?" Gary looked at his father and asked.
"That's right," Heinz said. "I've thought of all sorts of possibilities. We have to be prepared so that we won't be caught off guard."
"It's a bit too early, no?" Gary replied, a little exasperated.
el
"There isn't much else I can do. I don't want to interfere with your affairs, lest your mother loses. confidence in you. You're still young, Gary You still have a lot to learn." Heinz glanced at his son.
"Well, at least you can say that I'm not as shameless as she is."
"You are just the same. You knocked her up, so aren't you the villain here?"
Gary was shocked by the question, and he frowned. "I'm not a villain. I never slept with Janice at all."
Heinz smirked. "That's just coming from you, no one can back that up."
Gary's expression darkened after Heinz said that.
It took some time before he said, "It's the truth."
Heinz replied, "Only God knows whether it's true or not. Plus, you don't have to keep defending yourself. What's more important is whether or not Celeste believes you."C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.
Heinz's words hit the nail on the head, and Gary's expression soured even further.
His father was right. Explaining wouldn't do any good as Celeste was convinced that he and Janice had slept together.
It was futile for him to explain anything further.
With a bitter smile, Gary said, "You can laugh at me all you want."
"That's exactly what I'm going to do. Since it's rare to catch you slipping up, you'll be forever branded a cheater."
"I'm not a cheater." Gary insisted. "I can prove that I'm not. I'm different from you, Celeste is the only
woman I'll ever want."
Heinz smirked and said with a smile, "I hope things are really as you said."
"I know very well that I didn't do anything." Gary repeated seriously, "Although I don't have any evidence to prove my innocence, I'm sure I didn't do anything with her."
The more he thought about it, the surer he became that he had never had any sort of sexual contact with Janice. Hence, her pregnancy must have been by other means.
He would sooner or later find evidence to prove his innocence.
"The truth will come out eventually. However, Celeste is a stubborn girl despite her gentle exterior. She might not believe you," Heinz said.
Gary was also very clear that Celeste did not believe him.
She didn't feel secure.
She wasn't one to trust people easily without solid proof, so it was hard for Gary to get Celeste back.
He sat on the sofa and leaned back, looking tired.
Heinz chuckled. "Although Janice is a very unscrupulous woman, she's right about one thing. Celeste isn't the right woman for you."
It was not the first time that Heinz
had said that. Gary frowned and replied Only I know whether or not she's right for me, I don't need your
input. To me, you don't deserve to be with my mother either."
