Stop teasing me
Letta tried to continue walking as Marco’s entourage passed her, but suddenly her body froze when she heard his baritone voice from behind.
“Hey, can you wait a moment?” he said, making Letta even unable to turn her body, just staying silent while staring at the tips of her shoes, not knowing what would happen to her next. Hearing Marco’s steps approaching, “Are you not listening to me?” he asked again, making Letta finally try to exhale a long breath to control her heartbeat a little.
“Are you unwell?” someone now standing right beside her asked, making Letta force herself to look up at the face in front of her, then widen her eyes before lowering her gaze again. Of course, it was the face of the man who had shared her bed a few weeks ago.
“You’re my employee, aren’t you? I don’t want any of my employees working in such a condition. I don’t want to be sued later on,” Marco said, folding his arms and scrutinizing Letta’s appearance, which could only meekly bow down.
“I’m sorry, sir, but I’m fine. I just haven’t had breakfast,” Letta replied in the softest voice possible, sounding like a mere whisper. However, with Marco’s sharp hearing, he could hear it very clearly. It made Marco glance at his wristwatch, which showed it was already 10:00
“How can you not have had breakfast and go straight to work? I don’t want your work to be subpar because of your stomach,” Marco said again, pointing at Letta’s stomach, making Letta instinctively hold onto her stomach. Somehow, it was an instinct that made her feel like she was protecting something inside.
“I apologize, I will try to work as best as I can,” Letta said, bowing, causing Marco to finally disregard her response and scrutinize Letta’s appearance carefully. Meanwhile, his secretary and a few people who had followed him earlier looked at Marco in astonishment. How could a usually cold and indifferent Marco suddenly halt his steps just to inquire about the condition of an employee he might not have even met before? It seemed that Marco himself wasn’t aware of what he was doing at that moment.
“I don’t want any mistakes. So before you get back to work, have something to fill your stomach,” Marco said again, making Letta just nod before he continued on his way.
In the meantime, Letta didn’t take the opportunity. She immediately quickened her pace to disappear from the corridor, while Marco, for some reason, felt something amiss. Marco shrugged and continued walking.
Letta began to walk towards one of the cafeterias on the ground floor, as Marco had suggested earlier. Letta wasn’t lying because she was genuinely hungry now. She had vomited her breakfast this morning due to the nausea she had been experiencing lately.
Letta decided to buy a pastry; at least it could fill her stomach. Sitting in one of the chairs in the corner of the room, Letta took a bite of the pastry. Suddenly, her phone rang, causing Letta to immediately look at the screen in her hand. The name “Abian” displayed on the phone made Letta feel a little nervous to answer the call from her beloved.
“Hello, Bian?” Letta greeted.
“Darling, where are you? Are you working today?” Abian asked, making Letta pause for a moment.
“Yes, I’m still at work,” Letta replied shortly.
“Do you have a flight schedule today?” Abian asked again.
“No, I mean, it seems like I won’t be taking any flight schedules anymore,” Letta answered.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen? Why haven’t you been talking much about yourself lately? I’m getting worried,” Abian said, making Letta fall silent. Somehow, her eyes began to well up as if unintentionally hurting her beloved.
“There’s something I want to tell you, but it seems I can’t do it over the phone, so I’ll wait for you to come back,” Letta said, making Abian sound like he was sighing on the other end.
“Forgive me for not being able to see you these past few weeks, but I promise I’ll come home this weekend, and we’ll meet to spend the weekend together,” Abian said, making Letta at least be able to curl her lips hearing the good news.
“I miss you,” Letta said, making Abian say the same thing.
“I miss you more, and I feel like I want to fly over to your place right now and hug you tight,” Abian said, making Letta chuckle with delight.
“Yeah, I wish that too,” Letta replied.
“What are you doing right now?” Abian asked, inquiring about their usual conversation starter.
“I’m having breakfast.”
“Breakfast at this hour? That’s unusual,” Abian asked.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“I have a lot of work, so I didn’t have time for breakfast this morning. What about you?” Letta asked, trying to divert the conversation.
“I’m here observing zebras, elephants, lions, cheetahs, as you know. That’s what I observe every day here,” Abian said, sounding tired on the other end, making Letta chuckle with delight.
“Cheer up, dear. Isn’t that your dream, to be immersed in the wilderness?” Letta responded.
“Yes, but my longing seems to outweigh all those dreams,” Abian replied, making Letta sigh in frustration.
“Stop teasing me, or I’ll cancel our weekend plans,” Letta threatened.
“I’m serious. How could you think it’s just a joke?” Abian said, sounding sad, leaving Letta silent. How could she be this cruel and deceive the man who had been in her heart all this time? Letta didn’t know what expression Abian would give her when he found out the truth she was currently concealing.
“Bian, I have to get back to work. You have work to do too, right?” Letta said, her voice starting to tremble a bit as she held back the tears she had been holding back.
“Yes, I have to start looking for a good photo spot,” Abian replied.
“Well then, take care. I’ll hang up now,” Letta said, then immediately ended their call. Her teary eyes made Letta try to blink a few times to keep the tears from running down her cheeks.
