Stop coveting what’s mine
Letta could guess that the lengthy debate they had been conducting since earlier would be won by her husband. Jacob was really giving Marco an unfriendly look when Marco ended the argument, stating that Jacob and his family had no rights to the Jovanka assets. Edward held their signatures that transferred all the assets inherited to Edward, because of Jovanka’s past downturn that made Edward work hard to revive the Jovanka name as it is now.
With Marco’s help, Jovanka flourished rapidly, especially with their airline company becoming the number one in the country. Marco also expanded the Jovanka name in the hospitality sector, tourism, and luxury resorts scattered throughout the country. This made the Jovanka assets unquestionable, not just a matter of arguments. Letta had been feeling queasy since earlier, and finally, hesitantly, she touched Marco’s shoulder, which he never let go of.
“May I go to the back for a moment? I need to go to the bathroom,” Letta said, making Marco look at her for a moment before nodding.
“Come back quickly,” Marco said, making Letta nod. Letta got up from her seat, and this did not escape Jacob’s attention. Meanwhile, Marco listened to the conversation from Edward, even though he knew they wouldn’t stay quiet and would continue to fight for the rights they believed they still had regarding the Jovanka assets. Slowly, Jacob started to move away from the conversation.
Letta then asked one of the servants in the house where the bathroom was located. After a few minutes, Letta managed to find the bathroom. After looking at her face in front of the mirror, Letta exhaled slightly. Fortunately, her makeup still looked good, only her lipstick was slightly smudged. Letta fixed her lipstick with the new one she brought in her small bag, to prevent negative comments and Marco’s anger at her appearance. After staying silent for a moment in the bathroom, Letta came out and was surprised to find Jacob standing in front of her after opening the bathroom door.
“I didn’t know you were inside,” Jacob said, making Letta blink a few times.
“Wasn’t the door locked? You must have known someone was inside, right?” Letta said, making Jacob nod his head.
“Yes, I thought it was someone else,” Jacob replied, making Letta dismiss his answer nonchalantly.
“Then, excuse me,” said Letta. However, Jacob deliberately blocked her path, causing Letta to look up again at the man with brown hair and matching-colored eyes.
“Isn’t listening to their conversation a little boring?” Jacob said, making Letta fall silent once more.
“We don’t need to go there again. How about taking a walk around this house? Maybe to get some fresh air, I can accompany you,” Jacob suggested, causing Letta to shake her head. Of course, Letta already understood the meaning behind Jacob’s words.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“No, thank you. Marco will surely look for me,” Letta said, once again attempting to pass Jacob. But Jacob openly grabbed Letta’s arm, causing her to widen her eyes and push him away.
“What are you doing?” Letta said, making Jacob raise both of his hands.
“Calm down, why is your response so exaggerated? After all, I only touched your hand. Are you implying that your skin can only be touched by your husband?” Jacob asked, making Letta feel a hint of mockery in his words.
“Of course. It should be that way. Do you think I’m the kind of woman you can just touch freely?” Letta replied, making Jacob chuckle.
“Come on, I’m just kidding. Why are you getting so angry right away? You act as if you’re afraid Marco will see us, even though we’re cousins. I am Marco’s cousin, so automatically you are my relative too. So just relax,” Jacob said again.
“Alright, excuse me then. Marco will surely be waiting for me,” Letta said again. But Jacob once again pulled her shoulder and pushed Letta, causing her back to hit the wall. Jacob trapped Letta between his arms.
“What are you doing? I can scream and say that you’re trying to harass me,” Letta said, making Jacob laugh again.
“Relax, I just want to fix your makeup,” Jacob said, as Letta widened her eyes when Jacob reached out and touched the corner of her lips.
“Are you really fixing your makeup? It seems like you’re not applying your lipstick correctly,” Jacob said, causing Letta to immediately grip his arm, which made Jacob tug at the corner of his lips.
“Why don’t you want me to remove my thumb from the corner of your lips?” Jacob asked again, with a crooked smile that made Letta push his hand away.
“Stop it! Don’t just touch me recklessly. What exactly are you thinking? Why have you been bothering me all this time?” Letta asked firmly, making Jacob fall silent.
“Who’s been bothering you all this time? I’ve even been paying attention to you. Since you first came in, looking as if you were dragged here forcibly, to the way you eat. And this time, you seem genuinely scared just because I’m getting close to you like this. Are you afraid, or perhaps Marco is overly protective of you?” Jacob asked, making Letta quiet.
Jacob’s accusation wasn’t entirely true, but it couldn’t be entirely false either. Did her behavior really seem so constrained because of Marco? Letta thought about responding to Jacob’s words, but suddenly a cold and threatening voice was heard, making Letta widen her eyes.
“Step away from her,” Marco said, causing Jacob to look towards Marco, and finally Letta forcefully pushed Jacob away from her.
“Stop coveting what’s mine, whether it’s since you were born until now. Don’t you have any other woman who is more appealing than my wife?” Marco said, making Jacob fall silent, while Letta could only grip her sweaty fingers tightly.
