Chapter 860 We Have the Evidence
Caroline asked, “How will we know if it’s effective without giving it a try?”
Evan sneered. “You’re underestimating the complexity of the Millers. You’re going to get yourself in trouble with the article.”
Caroline asserted, “It’s the only way to protect Paige while publicly condemning them!”
Evan retorted, “You can’t have it all. Be clear about what you truly want–safeguarding Paige or seeking revenge.”
Caroline fell silent, thinking, ‘Is there no better alternative?‘
Evan set down the bathrobe and approached Caroline. “The key to controlling the Millers is to involve the police. They consider the overall situation.”
Caroline felt powerless. “What if they decide to protect Azure?”
Evan replied, “The Prices are one of the three major families in Angelbay. Alex won’t let them protect anyone.”
Caroline kept her head lowered.
Seeing her dejection, Evan gently squeezed her shoulder to reassure her. “Caroline, we’ll handle this matter. I don’t want you involved because the Millers shouldn’t be taken lightly.”
Caroline looked at him. “Won’t this cause you trouble?”
“Alex causing trouble at their doorstep has nothing to do with me. So, you don’t need to intervene either,” said Evan.
Caroline nodded. “Understood. Go wash up and get some rest. I’m going to work.”
Evan frowned, “Have Kenny go. It’s safer for you to stay put for a while.”
“Because of Daniella?” Caroline asked.
Evan nodded seriously. “We still don’t know their motive for abducting Daniella and Casey. It’s safer for you to go out less.”
“I understand. I’ll inform the staff at the company first while you rest,”
“Take a few bodyguards with you.”
“Sure.”
Alex had just arrived at the Millers when he saw police cars driving in.
Lucas exclaimed, “Fuck! You went straight to the police?”
“No. Although I didn’t go to the police, I’d do it later! It’s good that the police are here!” Alex gripped the steering wheel tightly.
Alex got out of the car, followed by Lucas.
The bodyguards at the door quickly reported the police’s arrival on their walkie–talkies.
Alex approached a police officer and recognized him as Officer Hernandez.
“Officer Hernandez,” Alex called out.
James turned and noticed Alex, greeting him, “What a coincidence, Mr. Price. Nice to see you, too.”
Alex nodded. “What brings you to the Millers?”
James replied, “We received a report that Ms. Miller maliciously caused someone to contract AIDS. There’s pressure from higher–ups, and we’re compelled to conduct a thorough investigation.”
Alex said, “That’s great. I’m also here for this matter!” Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
James asked, “Is the victim affiliated with you, Mr. Price?”
“Has the person who reported this revealed who the victim is?” Alex asked.
James shook his head. “No, our superior has no idea who the victim is, but we have the evidence. Please forgive me for not disclosing more details.”
Alex glanced at the butler rushing out of the villa.
“He’s here. Let’s go,” Alex ordered Lucas.
The group walked over, and the butler respectfully opened the door, bowing at James and Alex.
“Mr. Price, Mr. Jensen, officer, please come in.”
The three entered the villa, and someone appeared at the door soon.
