The Rebirth of a Scorned Heiress

Chapter 88: Journey Towards Redemption

“Are you here to gloat about your victory?” Marissa sneered as Lily sat in front of her with a smug smile and a mocking expression.

“There’s nothing to gloat about; even if I did gloat, I earned the right to do so,” Lily replied, her posture elegantly relaxed yet domineering.

“How does it feel to be locked behind bars?” She mocked with a small laugh, “I’m sure you have never imagined yourself in your position right now. I also never thought there would come a day I would have to personally deal with the insignificant Smith family, but here I am,” She chuckled mockingly, making Merrisa grit her teeth in annoyance.

“What do you want from me?” She sneered, and Lily shrugged.

“I came to see your loser face, and it’s hilarious just as I thought it would be, but then again, I came to inform you that you succeeded when you pushed Lily down those stairs.” Lily’s face dimmed as she said the last part.

Merrisa’s face paled, and the grip on her clothes tightened.

“What do you mean?” She asked with a trembling voice, having a bad premonition in her heart after hearing those words.

Lily pursed her lips as she moved closer to Merissa. “Whatever you heard is what I said. That girl would never have the guts to stand up to you. You were surprised by the sudden changes in the docile Lily, weren’t you?” She chuckled and relaxed back into her chair.

“Who are you?” Marissa demanded.

“I’m Lily Turner; who else will I be?” Lily replied with a smile as she got up to leave.

“Don’t worry, I made sure you will not be alone in prison; your family will have a little reunion in a few days. You don’t have to thank me,” she giggled and walked out, leaving Merissa dumbfounded and scared.

As Lily stepped out of her sight, she let out a scream. “She’s an imposter! She’s not the real Lilly! You have to arrest her!” She continued screaming, and that was how she was tagged insane, which led to her spending her days amongst psychiatric patients.

#News at Ten

The Smith family and cooperation have finally met their end as Mr. Smith, founder of Smith Cooperation, was sentenced to fifteen years of active service for the crimes of tax evasion, fraud, and counterfeit products.

This happened just after his daughter, Merrisa Smith, was convicted of attempted murder, plagiarism, and a crime of battery and blackmail.

After an interview with Jordan Smith, the Smith family’s first son, it was revealed that he went abroad after the family cut ties with him because he didn’t support their style of living. In that interview, Jordan clarified that he would not be taking over the Smith cooperation as he has his own business abroad.

Following this incident, we’ve found that the Smith Corporation had been bought and is now under new management, who swore to clean up the Corporation’s bad reputation by delivering top products to the people.

Lily turned off the television and took a sip of her wine. ‘I’ve avenged you and fulfilled your wish. You can rest easy now,’ she thought with her hand on her chest while looking out the huge glass window of the Smith Corporation.

A middle-aged man dressed in a brown suit walked into the large office with a black suitcase. Lily shook his hands and, with a smile, walked to the sitting area of the office.

“Hello, Mr. Wallace, correct?” She greeted me calmly.

“Wallace Jackson,” he introduced.

“I’ve heard a lot about your managerial skills, and I’m glad I could finally meet you,” Lily voiced.

“Haha. I only do my best so I can stay relevant in the industry.” Lily nodded, acknowledging Wallace’s dedication to his work and his humble nature.

In her previous life as Victoria, she had worked with the man sitting in front of her on multiple occasions, and on those occasions, they were both able to rake in mouth-watering profits for Hamilton’s business.

After she was reborn as Lily, the first thing she did was find out his location and plans. And the only reason she was able to get him to come work for her was because he got into trouble with William Hamilton after he refused to work with him.

After his refusal, Williams tried to suppress him amongst the big corporations by smearing his image.

“The reason why I contacted you is precisely because you do your best to remain relevant in the industry,” she confessed, her tone filled with respect.

“I have a proposition for you.”

Wallace raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued.

“A proposition, you say? Are you not aware of the ban on me?” He asked, and Lily chuckled.

“I know Williams too well to know he doesn’t take well to rejections. He aimed to suppress you until you crawl back to him,” she pointed out, and Wallace nodded.

“And you are not afraid that you will get pulled into this fire?” He asked.

“If I am someone who is scared easily, I wouldn’t have pulled the Smith Cooperation down like I did. Besides, I have a long-standing friendship with Williams; do you consider these two people with similar interests teaming up to achieve their goals? What do you think?” She asked with a subtle smile, and Wallace chuckled.

Before he agreed to the meeting, he had done his share of research about her, of which he was unable to find anything useful except her relationship with the downfall of the Smiths.

Her parents, who had been working for the Smiths for over a decade, somehow miraculously inherited a large orchard on the expensive side of the state.

No matter how he tries to think, he can’t help but think about her having some real and massive background that could not be offended.

Taking a deep breath, he adjusted his jacket and gestured for her to continue: “I’m all ears.”

Lily relaxed into the chair as she formulated her plans: “With the Smith family’s downfall and the cooperation under new management, this is the perfect opportunity to rebuild the company’s reputation and establish a new era for the business.”

“I couldn’t agree more,” Wallace replied, leaning forward in his chair. “But where do I fit into this plan?”

A sly smile spread across Lily’s face. “My plans are big, and I plan to dive deep into several aspects of the economy. I’m talking about being the second Watson group, and I want you to become the new CEO of the Smith Cooperation. Of course, you’ll only be acting in my place, since I hate doing paperwork.”

Wallace’s eyes widened in surprise, the weight of Lily’s offer sinking in. “Me? CEO? I’m honoured, but why choose me?”

“Your dedication to your work, your determination to stay relevant in the industry, and your impressive managerial skills make you the perfect candidate,” Lily explained.

“I believe you have what it takes to steer the company in the right direction and restore its reputation.”

“And of course, because you need my help and I offer a very generous salary. It’s going to be on the same scale as what you got while working with Victoria Hamilton previously,” she added with a smirk.

Wallace considered her words, mulling over the offer with a serious expression. And I was mostly impressed that she had done enough assignments to know how to lure him in.

Finally, he stood and extended his hand towards Lily. “I accept your offer.

Lily grasped his hand, sealing the agreement with a firm handshake.

“Welcome aboard, Wallace. I look forward to working with you.”

As Wallace departed from the office, Lily gazed out the window, a sense of relief and accomplishment washing over her.

She had avenged the real Lily and brought the Smith family to justice, and now, with Wallace at the helm, the Smith cooperation could begin its journey towards redemption.

And then she could finally begin her quest for revenge.
