THE LYCAN KING’S SECOND CHANCE MATE

Chapter 0300

Chapter 0300

REAGAN'S POV.

THREE DAYS LATER.

Ashanti has still not been found. The wardens searched every corner of the dungeon time and again, they searched every household in the pack and my castle but there is no sign of her. I'm going crazy. I'm going to lose my mind sooner or later because I have no idea what really happened to her. I don't know if she ran away or if she was abducted. I don't know if she's safe wherever she is or if she's even alive.

She could be dead for all we know.

That last thought sends shivers down my spine. I want to console myself with the fact that she can't be dead because I could have felt the pain in my heart because she's my true mate, but then I remember that I didn't mark her.

I did not claim her. I did not make her mine and that's why finding her right is a bit tough. If she had my mark, I would be able to feel her presence, her emotions, to know if she's in danger or not. I would be able to communicate with her through mindlink to ask her whereabouts, but I didn't.

I stalled. I cowered. I hesitated. And now I'm being punished. She has been taken from me.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

I have lost yet another mate and this time around, it was all my fault.

I feel lost. Like I have no purpose in life. My heart is hurting so bad, I wonder why it's still working. I haven't left my chambers in three days. I've refused to see or talk to anyone and I'm sure the entire pack is in panic. I feel like I'm going to slip into depression again. Losing my first mate destroyed me. If I lose Ashanti, the sadness is going to take me to a place of no return.

"We are not going to lose Ashanti." My wolf, King chimes in and I let out an exasperated sigh.

"That's what I wish for, King. But you never know. We've lost a mate before. What's the guarantee that we won't lose another one? Maybe we're doomed to be sad and lonely for life."

"No, we are not!" He firmly denies it. You still have a search party out there. The men you sent understand the gravity of the situation and I'm sure they are doing all they can to find her. Stay positive."

"I'm trying, King. Trust me I am. It's just..." My words catch in my throat and I lean back against the couch and facepalm myself.

How could she have vanished into thin air?

Why?

"I don't know why..." He reads my thoughts. "But what I know is that brooding and sulking in here won't make things better. Ashanti isn't- going to magically appear at your doorstep, the pain in your heart won't subside any time soon and most of all, you have a pack to run."

"Exactly the reason why I feel like killing myself right now!" I snap my eyes open and exhale heavily. "No matter what I'm going through, have to fucking stay strong for people I really don't want to have anything to do with."

"You have no choice and you know that. You've been downcast for three days, it was about time you pulled yourself together and resumed your duties as Alpha. There's a lot to be done and the first thing on that list is witnessing Alina's death."

"Ah yeah. That." I sit upright and incline my left hand towards my chest so I can check the time on the watch snaked around my wrist.

It's almost time for Alina's execution. I cannot miss that for the world. I'll come back to brooding when it's over.
