Cedric’s POV

It’s been a week since Ash left home. We received her messages and we are complacent that she is fine even though she is far from as and alone. I planned to visit her but Dad always stopped me. He said Ash might not learn to be alone if I go there. I’m just worried about my sister. That’s all, I miss her damn much. I am not used to her being away from us because since childhood I have always been by her side. Tell me that I am very overprotective of my sister to my sister… I just want to see her. I don’t want to think she was crying there while I… I-I’m here? That I am not thereby her side to calm her down and defend her.

I hope my sister is fine. I don’t know what I will do if something bad happens to her there.

I gasped as I leaned on the sofa.

“Ced?”

I looked up and looked at the one who called my name.

“Hey Baby.” I said and then kissed her.

“Why is my prince sad? ” she asked and then pinched my cheek.

“Sorry baby. I just remember Ash.” I said then made her sit on my lap.

“I see. I feel how you feel baby… I was like that when my older brother left us and decided to study abroad.” she said while fixing my hair.

I hugged her and smiled at her.

“Baby, don’t be too paranoid… We all know that Ash is not as weak as when you were kids.” she said and then touched my cheek.

“You’re right baby…” I said then laughed.

This is Almira Rivas, my understanding girlfriend.

We’ve been in a relationship for 4 years and road to engagement now. I decided to propose to her at our graduation ceremony. Since the day we become one couple I know to myself that she is the one for me. I never look at other girls. She is the only girl I look at. I can’t wait to shout to the world that she is the one and the one only that I will love for the rest of my life.

“Do you want us to go shopping today?” she asked me.

“Sure baby.” I said then kissed her.

“Wait for me okay? I’ll just get dressed.” she said and kissed me again and went up to her room.

I’m at her house now because we don’t have school today so I thought I’d visit her.

I have never been a girlfriend since I started high school. Darwin and Frank had girlfriends then they were actually womanizers back then. I used to be jealous of them but I could not do what they were doing. Even though we are friends, I am the only one who is different hahaha… because I don’t think of having a girlfriend even though I am jealous of them.

I care more about my sister than about those. Until I set foot in College. And there I met Almira. We became friends until we became girlfriends and boyfriends. Ever since I met her I have never been so happy-go-lucky. If we had parties to go to, I would not drink as much as I did before I met her.

“I’m ready! come on let’s go.” she said while going down the stairs.

“Okay baby.” I said then holds her hand.

We decided to just walk and take a taxi home later so we could enjoy every moment. We watched movies in the cinema before we went shopping. Almira is just a simple woman. She only uses lip-tint and powder but even so, she is very beautiful.

She is not as neat as other women who put a lot of make-up on their faces. Almira is different so I said that she is the woman for me. The only thing that makes her happy is that we have time for each other.

We also went shopping for a while because she said she needed to go to their house because they had something important for her and her family to talk about. When we got to her home, I took her in my car to her parents’ house. her mommy immediately met us outside.

“Cedric, Almira!” she said while opening the gate.

“How are you, aunt.” I said that she immediately hugged me.

“I’m okay dear. Thank you for bringing Almira.” she said and smiled at me.

“You’re welcome, aunt. All right, aunt, I’m leaving. I just take Almira here at your home aunt. Almira sees you at school.” I said to her and kissed her cheek.

“All right baby. Be careful, okay?” she said again and smiled at me.

“I will baby.” I said and then got in my car.

I started my car and waved at them again before I left to go home.

When I got home, they did not see mommy and daddy, it looks like they went somewhere again, they were busy. I sighed.

“Sir, you are already here.”

I turned to our helper.

“Where did my parents go?” I asked her.

“They’re going to a meeting, sir. Maybe they’ll go home at night.” explanation of our helper.

This is Nina. she is in her 20s. I only see her often because she is also studying. Her mother is also a helper in our house, so when she doesn’t have school, she comes here to help her mother.

“Ahh is that so? All right, I’m going up.” I said and then went up to my room.

I even heard her say “All right sir.”

Upon entering the room I immediately rested to take a bath. I let out another sigh before going to the bathroom to take a shower. After I took a bath I got dressed and then read the book I read in geometry while drying my hair with my towel.

While reading, I will never forget the events of my childhood and when I had a sister. my real… sister.

Flashback

I was 4 years old when our family unexpectedly happened.

Loretta was 1-year-old then. since Loretta was 1 year old, she has been in and out of the hospital. She will recover but in a month she will get sick again. I felt sorry for my parents that our family almost sold our company back then. Our money almost ran out when Loretta got sick.

The doctors could not determine what my sister’s condition was. They always give her some medicines and are always observed by doctors.

It took a year and Loretta did not recover. She cries and cries every time she is replaced with Dextrose Injection. I feel sorry for my sister at that time. Every time I was left at home with the maids I just locked myself in my room and cried.

I prayed every night that my sister would get well so that I could be with her again and play.

Until my birthday came. I thought of sending our driver to the hospital.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

I wanted to see my brother then and I also wanted to take care of him.

But when I arrived …

Mommy and daddy are outside. Both peeked in the glass to see Loretta. I thought they were just doing that. As I got closer I saw that they were both crying.

“Please God have mercy on us. Don’t take our daughter yet… Please, God.” I heard mommy say while crying.

My eyes widened as I stared at them.

“Loretta Please, Don’t give up yet sweetie, please. Please sweetie don’t leave me, mommy, and your brother yet. Please sweetie.” daddy said while looking in the glass and sobbing.

“Please, Loretta! Don’t leave us yet. Sweetie, don’t give yet please.” sobbing mommy said as she slowly sat down on the floor.

Out of astonishment, I ran closer to them.

“M-Mommy? Daddy? Why are you crying?” I asked innocently then.

Both of them do not answer and both just sob.

I climbed into the chair to see what the doctors were doing inside. I could not believe what I saw. My knees felt soft.

Doctors are already using Loretta’s electric shock machine. I stared at my sister as my tears slowly trickled down.

“M-Mommy? W-Why are they are a lot of doctors inside and w-why does Loretta not seem to be breathing?” I stuttered.

I slowly sobbed as I peeked at the doctors and my sister.

And suddenly the doctor came out. It looked down while facing my parents.

“I’m very sorry… Mr. and Mrs. Nevrakis. We did everything that we could. But your daughter really couldn’t handle it. Your daughter herself gave up.” the doctor’s explanation.

Suddenly daddy stood up and grabbed the doctor by the collar. His eyes glazed over as he stared at the doctor.

“Take back what you said, doctor. Our daughter is not dead yet!” said daddy. “Loretta isn’t dead yet!” he shouted.

The doctor was still looking down while daddy was holding him by the collar.

“I’m really sorry Mr. Nevrakis … But your daughter can’t really take the medication anymore.” the explanation of a doctor behind.

“What kind of doctors are you? You are doctors! You must save human life! Not letting them die!” mommy shouted.

They were screaming mommy as I was just staring at them as I was crying and sobbing.

“M-Mommy … D-Daddy… what’s going on?” I said as tears dripped.

They all turned to me.

Mommy came up to me and hugged me.

“Son… don’t cry please…” mommy said while sobbing and hugging me.

I cried even more because I already knew what was happening but I did not want to accept it.

“Is Loretta dead?” I stammered in tears.

“No baby … Loretta is not dead yet…” mommy replied while crying and smiling.

I pushed mommy and ran away while crying.

“Cedric!” mommy shouted.

But I did not look at her but just kept running away.

I can not accept that she is gone. I cried and cried until I stopped at the fountain near the hospital exit. I sat there and cried and cried.

3 days have passed since the last day we can be with her … Loretta will be buried. I cannot accept everything. I no longer have a brother I can no longer play. We have already dropped roses in her coffin … Gradually the ground is filling her coffin … I do not know why I did not cry during those hours. I just stared at Loretta’s coffin. Until we got home I did not cry. I was just quiet. I haven’t talked to anyone in weeks. I was just locked in a room. Just going out to eat or sometimes not anymore and just bringing food to my room. And since then they have been busy since Loretta dies. They don’t talk to me anymore. Only once when they have free time. they are often just focused on their work.

Since then I have not been excited every time my birthday comes. I always blame myself, I wish I didn’t go there, I wish it wasn’t my birthday

End of Flashback

I stood up and searched for a photo album on my bookshelf. I opened it and there I cried. There is a photo of me and my brother. and Loretta …

Maybe Ashleigh was our answer when Loretta died. Ashleigh was our luck. So when Ashleigh came into our lives I promised myself that I would defend Ash and I would not let anyone oppress her. So I was Ashleigh’s protector then. That is why I am so overprotective of her. Because I don’t want to repeat what happened to my sister Loretta to Ashleigh.

I decided to call her to hear her voice.

I’m still waiting for her to answer this.

“Brother!”

I smiled when I heard her voice.

“Brother … I thought you would never miss me because you did not reply to my messages.” I know she was sulking while saying those to me.

“S-Sorry Ash … Brother has been busy.” I explained while staring at the photos.

“I know… But brother, don’t make yourself too tired, okay?” she says.

“Of course! HAHAHA hey always clean your room!” I tease her so he doesn’t have to worry.

“BROTHER! Your behavior is really bad!” she was obviously annoyed with me.

I just laughed out loud. As we continue to tease each other.

To just heard her voice made me smile and become complacent that she was okay.
