Chapter 151 Ideal in the Human World
Brendon couldn't help but smirk. When he smiled, his face was as bright and beautiful as the plum blossoms that bloomed in winter. Ranita was stunned.
"What are you staring at?" Brendon reached out and flicked her forehead, not hard enough to hurt but enough to make it itch. "Am I really that good-looking?"
What an arrogant guy! But Brendon really was handsome. He was the kind of man that every girl dreamed of, just like Ranita's ideal man.
"You're very handsome," Ranita admitted honestly with a smile.
Brendon raised an eyebrow and asked teasingly, "So am I more handsome than Dylan?"
Ranita pursed her lips. There was no comparison between them.
Silence filled the air until Brendon closed the files forcefully with a cold expression on his face. "Go rest now! You can look at them later when you're well-rested."
"If you want to rest then go ahead," Ranita said before she could finish her sentence when Brendon bent down pretending to carry her in his arms. "Do you want me to carry you?"
Ranita didn't want him to do so and pushed away his hand. "Okay! I'll go rest!"
The two lay down for their afternoon nap with their own thoughts running through their minds. Brendon probably didn't sleep well because he fell asleep next to her quickly, his slender palm resting on her waist. This intimate yet domineering gesture made Ranita's heart flutter. What exactly did she mean to him? Was she someone who could be discarded whenever he wanted?
Ranita thought: It would be better if everything were clear-cut so they wouldn't have this torturous relationship anymore. They were already divorced yet still entangled like this. Ranita had grown tired of it all. NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
She turned over a few times before falling asleep next to Brendon who had already fallen asleep. His hand still rested on her waist. The thought made Ranita's emotions churn.
"Ranita! Wake up!"
She woke up groggily when she heard someone calling out for her. The light outside had turned into a soft golden color. It must have been around three or four in the afternoon by now.
"Don't sleep anymore or else we won't be able sleep tonight!" Brendon's low voice sounded pleasant.
Ranita's eyes blinked slowly as she looked at him. Her fingers were being held by him tightly.
"What time is it?" Her voice sounded drowsy.
"It's almost four. I'll take you for a walk on Moon Mountain." His voice trailed off as he handed over some clean clothes.
Ranita's head felt dizzy from exhaustion, and tears welled up in the corners of eyes due fatigue.
Before they could fall, Brendon's fingers gently wiped them away.
Ranita froze for a moment. It took several seconds before she realized what happened.
She pushed him away, didn't look at him directly, and ran into bathroom wearing slippers. Cold water splashed onto her face, Rantia became much more awake than before.
After sleeping for too long during her nap, Ranita felt a bit dizzy as she yawned her way out of the room. Brendon had made her a cup of coffee.
Since finding out she was pregnant, she had been drinking less coffee.
"Thank you, I'll just have water," Ranita said.
Brendon held the coffee cup and looked at Ranita. "You used to love drinking it."
Brendon was a workaholic and so was Ranita. To keep their energy up, coffee was always beneficial.
"I don't love it anymore," she replied.
"Okay then! Let me pour you some water." Brendon didn't say much more and went to pour water in an especially gentle manner.
It seemed like Brendon was taking care of her with great seriousness and attention to detail. Ranita's thoughts were all over the place.
"The air on Moon Mountain is good for you; breathing in negative ions is beneficial," Brendon said as he led Ranita up the mountain path that wasn't really a climb since they were staying at a resort built halfway up the mountain. They only needed to walk along some stairs for about ten minutes before reaching the top of the mountain.
As evening approached, sunlight wasn't as intense anymore; combined with Moon Mountain's naturally cool temperature, fragrant plants brushed against them lightly in soft breezes.
