The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 266

Chapter 266

Cordelia realized she couldn't let him know she was aware he'd been secretly deleting her emails. If he

found out she knew, he might have continued doing it. She decided to play dumb, pretending she

hadn't received the job offer. As soon as the time came, she'd make her escape.

"Stomachache?" Ronan asked, approaching Cordelia.

Her eyes, which were initially filled with resentment, suddenly softened. "I'm not feeling so well today.

Could you take me to the hospital? Victoria's Hospital."

Seeing her pale face and the way she clutched her stomach, Ronan helped her into the car, heading

straight for the hospital. On the way, Cordelia video called Victoria, asking if she was at the hospital

today because her stomach was hurting.

"I'm on call today, are you bleeding?"

"No, just a stomachache," Cordelia replied, her forehead damp with sweat. She wanted to lie down but

couldn't. She tried to find a comfortable position in the car, but it was impossible.

"Just hang in there," Ronan said, noticing her pained expression through the rearview mirror.

About twenty minutes later, they arrived at the hospital. After examining Cordelia, Victoria called Ronan

into her office, telling them Cordelia was having a threatened miscarriage. "Have you been upset

recently?" Victoria asked Cordelia. “Emotional stress can easily lead to a miscarriage. Fortunately,

you’re not bleeding. It’s not serious, but you need to be careful.”

Ronan stood by Cordelia’s side.

“I’d like to be,” Cordelia said, her voice tinged with melancholy. She wanted to be fine, but Ronan

wasn’t making things easy. Their constant arguments and sex were taking a toll on her. Plus, she had

just found out that Ronan had deleted her job offer, blocking her way to further her studies.

"Also, isn't it true that you can't have sex during pregnancy?" Cordelia asked, glancing at Ronan out of

the corner of her eye. She wanted Ronan to know how much he'd hurt her.

"Normal pregnant women shouldn't during the first three months and the last three months. The fetus

isn't stable during the first three months, and the uterus is under great pressure in the last three. But

Cordelia, you're carrying twins. Your uterus is already under a lot of stress," Victoria said, sounding a

bit annoyed. She looked at Ronan and said, "Mr. Evans, can't you control yourself? These are your Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

babies too."

Cordelia clenched her clothes tightly. To stop Victoria from saying more, Cordelia said, "It might also be

because I've been upset these past few days."

"Mr. Evans, you shouldn't upset Cordelia while she's pregnant. You need to keep her in high spirits.

And Cordelia, remember the prenatal yoga class Brooklyn mentioned? You should give it a try. Isn't that

right, Mr. Evans?" Victoria asked, looking at Ronan.

Even someone as fearless as Ronan had to respect Victoria. "Yes," he replied.

Victoria prescribed some medication for Cordelia, who then headed home. On the way back, Ronan

remained silent.

"Only I know who the father of the baby is. Neither Victoria nor Brooklyn know anything about it. They

only guessed," Cordelia said.

"Why deny what's already known?" Ronan asked, looking at Cordelia through the rearview mirror.

"I just didn't want you to overthink," Cordelia replied, playing with her fingers.

"I didn't."

As they neared their home, Ronan said, "I'll move back to Pearl Palms. I'll have Kitty teach you

prenatal yoga."

"Thank you, Mr. Evans," Cordelia said, looking out the window, her voice distant.

Afraid Ronan would see her relief, she slowly let out a breath she'd been holding. But Ronan noticed.

"So, you can't stand seeing me?" he asked.

"No, it's just…"

"Nevermind." Ronan's anger finally subsided. He knew Cordelia's threatened miscarriage was directly

related to him, so he decided to move back to Pearl Palms.
