Chapter 190
Chapter 190
The boy walked out of the gates of Lumos Enterprises, with a car waiting for him in the corner.
Deanna had specifically hailed a cab instead of driving her own private car. Samantha and Deanna
were sitting side by side in the back seat. "So, how'd it go?" Deanna asked the little boy, filled with
anticipation and nerves.
"I said everything you told me to," the boy replied.
"And how did they react?" Samantha was even more eager to know what Ronan's reaction would be
upon learning that his wife was the daughter of a 'lady of the night.'
"The woman was crying the whole time, and the man looked pretty pissed." The boy replied after some
thought.
Deanna and Samantha were over the moon.
“Are you still going to give me the money you promised?" the boy asked Deanna.
Deanna pulled out twenty bucks from her pocket and handed it to the boy.
"Since their marriage was just a show for Barney, let's go find Barney now," Deanna said, glancing at
her watch.
Even though she had Cordelia and Ronan’s schedules, she didn't know what they did after work. They
always left an hour late every day. Now it was five forty, and they would probably have to wait a while
longer before leaving.
Deanna immediately directed the driver to head to Pearl Palms. Barney was the only one at home
having dinner. Samantha didn't get out of the car. She waited in the car, worried that Cordelia would
find out she was now in cahoots with Deanna.
"Barney, where are Ronan and Cordelia?" Deanna asked. NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
"Oh, Ronan just called to say that he and Cordelia went out for a meal." Barney replied nonchalantly.
"Just hang out at home and wait for them."
Deanna then took a seat on the couch and started chatting with Barney.
"Barney, I just went to Lumos Enterprises, but Ronan wasn't there, so I left. I overheard some people at
Lumos Enterprises talking, and they were saying..." Deanna deliberately paused, seeming to find it
hard to go on.
"Eh, what's up? Just spit it out. I'm no stranger," Barney said kindly.
After Barney finished his meal, he sat down on the couch. He also sent a message to Ronan, [When
are you coming back? Deanna's here.]
Ronan replied, [Soon.]
[How soon?]
[Twenty minutes.]
"Today at the company, I heard the reception staff discussing that Cordelia is not her parents' biological
daughter, she's like a foundling. You know about Ronan's cornea transplant, right? At first, I thought it
was my dad's cornea that was given to Ronan, but later found out it wasn't, it was Cordelia's dad.
Ronan's with Cordelia, maybe because of this gratitude, but now, this relationship doesn't exist
anymore. I heard Cordelia's mom was a lady of the night, Barney, you're from a distinguished family.
Don't let this affect your reputation." Deanna said carefully, watching Barney's face.
"Ronan had a cornea transplant?" Barney asked Deanna. "When did this happen?"
Deanna was taken aback. "Barney, you didn't know?"
"No."
Deanna felt a bit nervous, worrying that the news she just told Barney was too shocking, especially
since Barney didn't even know about Ronan's previous loss of sight.
Barney was silent for a long time, trying to calm down, then said to Deanna, "What did you just say
about Cordelia..."
"I heard Cordelia's mom has a bit of a sketchy past. I'm worried this could threaten the reputation of the
Evans family."
Just then, the sound of a car parking came from outside. Barney's face suddenly turned pale and he
clutched his chest. "Janice, bring me my heart medication quickly."
Barney's heart condition had always been bad.
Seeing this, Janice immediately brought Barney his heart medication. Deanna felt guilty, why would
Barney suddenly have a heart attack at this time? Was it because of Cordelia's origin, or her
comments? If it was because of her comments, how could she explain herself?
She wanted to leave, but Ronan and Cordelia had already entered the house.
"Barney, what's wrong?" Ronan and Cordelia asked simultaneously.
Barney lay on the couch, pointing at Deanna. "She just said Cordelia's biological mother is a lady of the
night. I was so angry..."
"I..." Deanna suddenly felt unable to defend herself. She had always thought Barney was a kind old
man, so why was he suddenly accusing her?
"What?" Ronan's stern gaze was fixed on Deanna.
"I didn't!"
Ronan told Cordelia to support Barney and asked Janice to call the doctor. Then he slapped Deanna
across the face.
The slap was loud. Cordelia, who was supporting Barney, was startled by the sound and trembled. She
never thought Ronan would hit someone, especially a woman!
