Meanwhile, Suzy had spent several days at Cody's suburban villa. During this time, she turned off her phone, avoided all social media platforms, and essentially cut herself off from the outside world.

She did not even dare to turn on the television, fearing that once she did, the unbearable images would flood her mind and overwhelm her.

In just a few short days, Suzy tormented herself to the point of becoming almost unrecognizable. She despised Winter, but at the same time, she felt utterly helpless.

On several occasions, she even contemplated ending her life, no longer wanting to face the world. However, the thought of dying while Winter continued to live well made her reluctant to give up.

Annie was the most frequent and only visitor who knew Suzy's whereabouts during these days. She came almost every morning, noon, and night but never stayed for long. Suzy knew Annie meant well, but she did not want to see anyone, not even Annie.

On the fifth day of Suzy's self-imposed isolation, Annie arrived at Cody's villa once again.

Seeing the mess everywhere, a flash of impatience crossed Annie's face, followed by a deep sense of helplessness.

Annie quickly tidied up. When she could find Suzy in the living room, she went upstairs. Sure enough, she found Suzy huddled in a corner of the bedroom.

Suzy was staring blankly at nothing in particular, unaware of Annie's presence.

Taking a deep breath, Annie understood Suzy's current state of mind. After all, not long ago, she herself was in a similar dark place.

However, she eventually got back on her feet. However, unlike Suzy, her innocence was not taken away, so their experiences were not entirely the

same.

Annie approached Suzy while carrying some food. Noticing Suzy's vacant eyes, she set the food aside and crouched down in front of her, waving her hand.

"Suzy, I'm here!" Annie called out.

Suzy snapped back to reality. Seeing Annie did not elicit much of a

reaction, as if it had become routine. She merely raised her eyes slightly and muttered, "Oh, you're here." Content belongs to

"Mm, I brought your favorite foods, Suzy. Come eat!" Annie opened the various food containers. "My mom made all this. There's pork sandwiches, hand-pulled chicken, and..."

Suzy said listlessly, sounding dejected, "Just leave it there. I'm not hungry right now."

"Suzy, come and eat. Your health is important, and I have something to tell you," Annie said, looking excited. "Come on. Eat up, then take a shower, and I'll take you out!"

"Out?" Suzy's eyes widened at those words. She strongly resisted the idea. "Go out for what? To be laughed at? I won't go out. I don't want to!" The mere mention of it made Suzy's emotions unstable.

"Annie, I'm tired. I want to rest. You should go home. I... I'm going to sleep."

Suzy stood up, trying to usher Annie

out. Yet, Annie quickly held onto Suzy, looking somewhat

exasperated. "Suzy, don't get upset. That's not what I meant. I just wanted to take you for a short walk nearby. And didn't I tell you have good news? You'll definitely be happy when you hear it!" Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

"Happy? How can I be happy now? Annie, stop trying to fool me. I know you mean well, but look at me. How can anything be good? How can be happy? What will people outside think of me? So many people were there that day, and you saw it too. They..." Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

Suzy choked up, tears suddenly falling. "My parents must be so disappointed in me. Annie, I really don't know what to do anymore."
