Chapter Five
Chapter Five
Alex
"You can't do this Alex, he is going to disown you." my sister said trying to convince me not to leave.
"Lydia, at this point I don't care anymore, we had a deal and he didn't keep his own end of the deal, I'm
done, he can have everything." I said stuffing more cloth into my bag.
"You know what he can do right?" She asked looking at me with concern.
"Yes I do, I also know what I can do." I replied not bothered.
"What about Nora, you are engaged to her already, Dad would be furious." Lydia said putting down the
cardboard box.
"If he cares about Nora that much then he should marry her, I'm a married man, I am legally married
and I can't marry someone else, I love my wife and I don't care about his threats anymore." I told her
then I continued to pack my things.
The last six years has not been easy on me, leaving Tracy was not easy for me at all, but when my
father called on our wedding day and started threatening to hurt her and her family, I couldn't help but
do what I thought was right, I went back to my father.
He promised to let me go back to Tracy once his company becomes the number one best company in
New York as far I don't reach her or communicate with her, I knew my father and what he could do, he
was a very ruthless person and he could do anything to Tracy, so all I could do was accept his
condition.
Heaven knew I worked hard, it took me three years to achieve that, three years of working non stop,
three years of working on contracts, three years of full dedication three years of hiding from the media,
three years of not communicating with my wife, I almost went crazy. The only thing that got me going
was my wife.
Unfortunately for me my father didn't keep his promise, he came up with another excuse, he told me to
make sure the company stays number one then he would stay away from Tracy and her family, then he
would let us be together, I gave up trying not to reach Tracy then, I sent her letters because I knew my
dad was monitoring my phone calls and movement, I sent her 2 letters every month and I told her not
to reply.
It has been another three years, the company is still the number one company in New York, but then
my father is still not keeping his promise, instead he made me announce a fake engagement with
another business tycoon's daughter.
I've realized my father is not planning to let me go anytime soon, he is still the same cold and selfish
man I've known since I was young, I started processing legal documents that would protect my wife
and her family to an extent, with the help of my trusted friend I have the documents already.
Few months ago I established a company in Florida, with another branch in my wife's town, I've
decided to take her back to her town once I get back to Florida, I felt bad about eloping and I was
determined to do things right this time around.
"Where is that ungrateful brat?!" My father said from the sitting room, he barged into my bedroom in no
time.
"How dare you?"
"Good afternoon to you too Dad" I said, my sister moving closer to me. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
"How dare you?, How could you tell Nora's father that you are not interested in a real engagement?"
He said, his face red with anger.
"One, because I'm a married man, two because I'm not interested." I said returning my attention to the
things I'm packing.
"What are you doing?, Don't tell me what I heard is true, what are you doing?"
"I'm going back home, I've had enough and I'm going home to my wife" I said and all hell broke loose,
my father flared up.
"You wouldn't dare, I'd make sure I inflict excruciating pain on her, her family would suffer I tell you." He
yelled like I was not in the same room with him.
"You try touching my wife or her family, I'd make sure I ruin your business, everything you've worked
for, don't feel threatened, do whatever you like and you'd see what I can do." I said staring straight into
his eyes, it was the first time I'd stand up to my dad and I felt grown for the first time in my life, his
reaction was priceless.
He said something like ungrateful brat then left the house, I was really thankful that for a while now he
would be out of my neck.
I meant what I said, if he as much as hurt a hair on Tracy's head, I'd do everything within my power to
bring down the company he cherish much more than his own children, he'd have to go through me
before he can hurt Tracy.
"I'm proud of you bro, I've never seen you stand up to him." Lydia said and I smiled.
I packed the rest of my things, checked my mum then I took the next flight to Florida, after getting my
sister to promise to help me ship my things to Florida once I'm settled.
The journey home felt like forever, I missed Tracy more than I ever did in the last six years, I felt like
casting some kind of spell on the plane so that it would move faster because all I want to do is go home
and kiss my wife senseless, unfortunately there was nothing I could do.
We eventually landed after the longest 2 hours 37 minutes of my life, I drove home as fast as I could,
but all that met me was an empty house with overgrown trees and flowers everywhere.
Tracy is a hard worker and if she was around the house everything won't be looking so dirty and
abandoned.
I rushed into the house opening the door with the spare key I had on me, cobwebs hugged my face at
every turn, before I could even even look for any sign of Tracy, I found her wedding band, the 5000
dollars and the ATM card I left 6 years ago on the table, all were dust infested.
I rushed into our room and checked the drawer, where I found our marriage certificate right where I left
it.
I took it took everything, and I called one of my friends who works in a traveling agency, telling him just
one sentence.
"Book me a flight to Philadelphia."
I am going to get my wife back.
