The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 245

Chapter 245

However, Rosalie did not expect Jonathan to have his driver drive over a private car worth over 60,000 dollars.

Rosalie was a bit surprised.

“Didn’t you say you wanted the car to be more ordinary?” Jonathan stated.

“I did want it to be more ordinary, as I don’t want to be too eye-catching in this town. It’s a small town, and I’m afraid there will be all sorts of rumors at that time. I don’t want Granny to be upset over hearing them. However, are you really planning to drive this car there?” Rosalie asked.

“Why not?” Jonathan smiled. “Well, get in the car.”

It was not until Rosalie got in the car that she realized that the driver was not coming, and Jonathan was going to drive the

car.

“You’re driving?” she asked.

“Yes.” Jonathan responded, “It’s not far anyway. You can get some shut-eye if you are tired. I know the way.”

As Jonathan spoke, he started the car.

Rosalie inadvertently pursed her lower lip as she watched Jonathan drive. She mused, “Wouldn’t it take more than two hours to drive there at this speed?”

It could be tiring to drive for over two hours straight, but Rosalie could not lend a hand because her driver’s license had been revoked long ago. Furthermore, it was impossible for her to drive again in the future.

She was banned from driving for life.

Rosalie thought, “What if I can clear my name and reverse the verdict one day? Perhaps, I will be able to regain what I lost, such as my driver’s license, lawyer’s license, and other things.”

Clearly, there were things that could not be recovered, such as her youthful enthusiasm, her past ambitions, her once-idealistic view of the world, her mistaken family relations, and her youth.

Rosalie was now 28 years old. Although she had not reached her thirties, she felt many times that her heart had aged far beyond her years.

If Rosalie had not met Jonathan, she would have ended up like someone who had lost all purpose in life. She would just die of old age carrying that sense of futility.

However, Jonathan’s presence seemed to help her weary heart gradually regain a trace of vitality and some hope for life.

Rosalie used to think that the most painful thing after her release from prison was meeting Jonathan and being deceived by him. But in reality, it might have been her stroke of luck.

It was Jonathan who made her feel like life was becoming better again.

She thought, “Isn’t it really nice… being liked by him?”

Thinking of it, Rosalie closed her eyes gradually and drifted off to sleep. When she woke up, the car had already driven to the outskirts of the town and was almost at Wilma’s house.

Rosalie rubbed her eyes and said awkwardly, “I… fell asleep.”

“Yeah. You slept soundly and even grind your teeth,” he replied.

Instantly, Rosalie turned red in embarrassment, and she mused, “Could it be that I grind my teeth when I sleep?”

Jonathan went on, “I’m kidding. Well, we’ll be at your granny’s house in a few minutes.”

Rosalie then tidied up her hair and clothes. When Jonathan’s car stopped in front of her grandmother’s house, he grabbed her hand when she was about to get off.

Rosalie turned to him with a puzzled look. “What’s wrong?”

“Have you figured out how you’re going to introduce me in a little while?” he asked.

Rosalie was stunned for a moment and then replied, “Of course. I’ll say you’re my boyfriend.” This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Jonathan smiled faintly. “All right. Let’s go.”

The two of them got out of the car, and Rosalie walked up to the front door and knocked. It did not take long for someone to come and open the door, and it was Sarah.

Sarah’s expression twisted with sarcasm when she saw Rosalie. “Oh, it’s Rosalie. What a surprise! You’ve even brought

someone along this time!”

As Sarah spoke, she glanced outside and noticed a regular car parked at the house’s entrance. She immediately looked at Rosalie with a hint of mockery in her eyes.

Everyone previously thought that her niece had snared a wealthy man. After all, a man went to great lengths to rescue her from that fool’s house that day.

However, the car outside didn’t seem to be a luxury car they speculated. Sarah could recognize quite a few luxury car

brands.

Sarah thought, “The man accompanying my niece is indeed pretty good-looking, but what’s the use of a good-looking man? He might just be good for nothing!”

Moreover, that man might not even know that her niece had been in jail.

Rosalie replied, “Yeah. I came to check on Granny. How is she doing?” She had heard that Daniel, Edward, and Sarah were taking turns to take care of her grandmother. It must be Sarah’s turn today.

“Your granny can still eat and sleep just fine. She’s currently asleep in her room.” As Sarah spoke, the three of them had already entered the living room.

At that moment, Fiona, Sarah’s daughter, was sitting in the living room, eating snacks while watching the TV series. She was about to make some sarcastic comments when she saw Rosalie come in. However, her eyes widened, and she could not move her eyes away when she saw Jonathan, who was next to Rosalie.

Rosalie said, “Jonathan, why don’t you sit here for now? I’ll go check on my granny.”

“Sure,” Jonathan responded, and he then gracefully pulled out a chair and sat down. He did not appear constrained, but he also did not come across as impolite.

As Rosalie turned around to walk toward her grandmother’s room, Fiona’s eyes continued to scrutinize Jonathan intently.

Fiona felt that the man sitting before her looked like a painting. However, she found herself tongue- tied when tried to engage in a conversation with him, as she was overwhelmed by the intangible overpowering aura emanating from him.

It was as if he were someone she could only admire from afar but could not truly approach.

At that moment, Rosalie arrived at her grandmother’s room, and she didn’t see her grandfather. Wilma was lying on the bed, sound asleep, in her room. Wilma looked slightly thinner than the last time Rosalie had seen her.

As Rosalie gazed at the elderly woman before her, she could not help but feel that her grandmother was nearing the end of

her life.

Perhaps, it was because her grandmother had indeed grown old. Even though her memories of her grandmother were of a spirited and lively woman, years have passed, and she had fallen terribly ill before. No one knew how many years her body could hold up.

Rosalie thought, “I shall cherish all the remaining time Granny has!”

Rosalie left the room silently after watching for a while, as she did not want to disturb her grandmother’s sleep. Rosalie knew she could wait until her grandmother woke up to have a proper conversation with her.

When Rosalie returned to the living room, she found Jonathan sitting in a chair and leisurely playing with his phone.
