The Apple of My Eye

Chapter 2115 Love Buried In The Bottom Of Her Heart

Chapter 2115 Love Buried In The Bottom Of Her Heart

When they walked out of the ward, Sheryl looked back and gazed at her daughter on the bed.

Suddenly, her gaze shifted and fell on Charles. She was going to tell him what she had in mind.

"Sher, why don't you go back to sleep tonight? I'll be here to look after her," Charles suggested, hoping

Sheryl would take some rest.

As soon as he said this, Sheryl refused. "No, there is no need for you to take this trouble. I can take

care of my daughter."

"How can you say such a thing to me? She is my daughter too! It is my responsibility to look after her.

And you just got back from the hospital. You need some good rest," Charles insisted.

'Is he really not going to leave tonight?' Sheryl could not help but wonder.

She was at a loss of words, not knowing what to do next.

Just when she was in a dilemma, Charles's phone began to ring, bringing her out of this reverie.

Charles lowered his head and took out his cell phone. He merely glanced at the caller ID, but didn't

answer it.

Sheryl watched him furrow his brows as if he had some troubles at hand.

According to Sheryl's understanding of Charles, this call must be from someone he didn't want to talk

to.

'Who could it be?' she couldn't help but wonder.

Considering it was late at night, it seemed obvious that it wasn't work related. After racking her brain,

Sheryl's mind came up with a plausible explanation.

Immediately, anger and frustration once again began to take up her heart. She was quite certain that

this phone call must be from that woman!

'Oh, my gosh! She is so persistent. She dares to call him at this hour even when she knows he is at the

hospital!'

Sheryl's face turned grim at this thought.

Just like Sheryl had guessed, the call was indeed from Vicky. Charles was still debating whether to pick

up the call or ignore it. However, he didn't have to continue with this dilemma any longer. The phone

suddenly stopped ringing.

Even then, Charles' mind wasn't at ease. From what he knew, Vicky was surely going to pull some ugly

trick on him again. But he decided to ignore her, at least for now.

Forgetting about the phone call, Charles decided to handle the matter in front of him. He was about to

speak in order to persuade Sheryl to take some rest. But unfortunately, his phone began to ring again,

vibrating in his jean's pocket.

"Answer it, perhaps it is from someone important," Sheryl said in a sarcastic tone.

Charles hesitated for a moment and then walked a few steps away before he picked up the phone to

answer it.

Sheryl's heart sank as she saw Charles' reaction.

As expected, Charles was overcome with a feeling of guilt, and it was evidently shown on his face. This

confirmed her suspicion that this call could only be from that woman, Vicky!

Sheryl stared at Charles' back, wishing to burn a hole in his body with her eyes.

Charles answered the phone, and Vicky quickly said, "Charles, it's me!" She spoke using her sexy

voice, which further annoyed him.

Devoid of any emotion, Charles asked, "What is it?"

"Charles, I am not feeling well. Can you come to see me?" Vicky begged and feigned a helpless tone,

intending to provoke his protective instinct.

'What the hell is wrong with this woman?!' Charles wanted to scream.

However, he tried to compose himself and spoke in a soft tone. He rejected her, saying, "Sorry, I am

busy with something else."

"Charles, please don't be like this. I feel awful at the moment. In fact, I have been feeling this way for

the past few days. The nightmares I see are terrible. It makes it difficult for me to sleep. In one of those,

I saw myself being smashed by a car. I was broken into pieces. My head, hands, and feet were

scattered away. I had to crawl all the way..."

Vicky miserably spoke in a low voice, a little out of breath. It sounded like she was really possessed by

a devil, and there was a ghastly feeling coming from it.

Charles had absolutely no patience to deal with this woman right now. Hearing this, he only replied

lightly, "You are thinking too much. Go to bed early and get some rest."

When Charles was about to hang up the phone, he heard Vicky screaming at him, full of sorrow and

desperation, "I'm really going to die! If you don't come and see me right now, I'll jump off from the roof

of this building!"

'Come on! She can't possibly be pulling this stunt again!'

Charles sneered and was even a bit amused by it.

Even if this woman died in front of him, he wouldn't shed a single teardrop for her.

But whoever was behind her wasn't tired yet. He didn't know how many traps they had for him and his

family members.

If he decided to get rid of this woman once and for all, that person would think that she was useless

and stop showing up.

Charles was torn by this feeling of indecision.

He had planned to give Sheryl some rest and stay the night to look after his daughter. He loved her

ardently and couldn't watch her toil. However, Vicky had stepped in and once again made his life

miserable. Now it was a little difficult for him to decide what would be the best way to handle it.

Charles looked at Sheryl subconsciously and saw her turning her back against him as if she didn't even

want to see him.

He was overwhelmed by a sudden surge of sadness.

"Okay, I'll come there once I finish my work," Charles replied.

Vicky had not expected that Charles would cave in so easily. It became difficult for her to hide the Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

excitement she was feeling. "Thank you so much! Yes, Charles, you must come over. I'll be waiting for

you."

"I am hanging up now." Charles hung up the phone as soon as he finished those words.

He began to walk towards Sheryl, not knowing how he would explain this to her.

He knew that with Sheryl's stubborn character, she was bound to misunderstand the relationship

between him and Vicky.

Charles smiled bitterly. In fact, this was exactly what he wanted. If he could make Sheryl stay away

from him, then Vicky would be reassured that there was nothing between them. Hence, she would stop

trying to trouble them. He wanted Sheryl to be far away from all this drama.

Out of the corner of her eye, Sheryl saw Charles walking towards her, but she deliberately turned her

back and didn't bother to look at him.

She had already guessed what Charles was about to say. Just the mere thought of it made her wince.

"Sher, I..." As expected, Charles was having a tough time trying to get the words out of his mouth. He

could not even finish a sentence.

"What is it?" Sheryl pretended not to know.

"I have something to deal with. You..."

"Okay," Sheryl replied directly.

Charles was embarrassed and wanted to say something more, but Sheryl had turned her face away.

"Sher, will you be okay dealing it all by yourself? How about I call Nancy to accompany you?" Charles

suggested.

Sheryl rolled her eyes at Charles. She didn't even want to look at that man.

'Why is he trying to talk? Couldn't he just take the hint and get out of my face? It seems like he has no

shame!'

Mentally, she was cursing Charles for making it so hard for her. There was a part of her that wished to

throw these spiteful words at him. However, in the end, she had no courage to say them out loud.

"I know you have important affairs that you need to attend to. Am I keeping you here? No! Stop acting

like I am begging for your company. Don't waste my time," Sheryl replied coldly.

Charles felt distressed upon hearing her words. But he had nothing to say to defend himself.

"Sher, I am worried about you."

"You are worried about me? I don't need your worrying. Go ahead and worry about the girl who called

you. Hurry up, or else she will be really pissed," Sheryl said with a smile that reeked of hatred.

However, a layer of sadness could be noted, which she tried her best to hide.

Charles opened his mouth. At this moment, he really had an urge to explain everything to her. He

couldn't bear to see her in this state. He felt responsible for the sorrow she was going through.

But to his dismay, he couldn't say a word. If he blurted it all out now, then everything he had done

would be in vain.

When Charles didn't respond, Sheryl knew that her doubts had been right, and her words had hit him

where it hurt. She could not help but despise his action.

Sheryl sneered. She then pushed open the door and went back inside.

Charles watched Sheryl's figure disappear behind the door. His mood couldn't get any worse.

Eventually, he heaved a long sigh before he turned around and left.

In the ward, Sheryl leaned her back against the wall, tears welling up in her eyes.

'Damn, Charles! He is such an unfaithful man!'

Sheryl took solace in cursing Charles. Once she began, she couldn't stop. However, the hatred in her

heart was still not lessened even a bit.

It was said that hatred only existed because of love. Now she realized that her love for Charles hadn't

faded away at all. On the contrary, she was more in love with him.

But most of the time, she hid her feelings deep in her heart and did not want to show it to others. Now,

in this vulnerable state, she realized the depth with which she loved him.

'Why did he do this to me? Do I have any place in his heart?' she wondered, but knew the answer

would be in the negative.

There was no point in dwelling on these matters, but there was nothing she could do to stop it.

Realizing how hard it was to forget him, she cursed her own stupidity. She told herself she had been an

idiot to fall so deeply for him.

Her tears began to slide down her cheeks, and a bitter smile crept on her lips.
