Chapter 2016 An Argument With Charles
Chapter 2016 An Argument With Charles
"Do you think that I don't know what you have done? Of course, I know about what you did! I have
been to the villa in bustling downtown." Melissa sat down and looked at Charles with disdain. She knew
she was guilty but was reluctant to apologize.
Melissa looked down on Vicky because Vicky was not as excellent as Sheryl. Even if Charles was
being threatened, he would never have chosen a woman like Vicky. She was so angry with Charles for
ruining everyone's lives.
"Mom, could you please not worry about these things?" Charles didn't know what to say upon hearing
that Melissa had been to the villa. He couldn't hide anything from her anymore.
"Fine! I can let you deal with it. But what have you done so far? Tell me, what exactly! You have done
absolutely nothing, my son! Honestly, do you think that if you marry Vicky, you won't care about
anybody else?" Melissa was so angry that she cursed at her own son.
"Mom. I have told you that I will never marry Vicky! Why don't you believe me?" Charles took a deep
breath to regain his composure. He couldn't understand why Melissa was so upset.
Melissa couldn't control herself because she truly didn't believe Charles' words. She walked towards
him, pointed at him, and shouted, "I believed you before. But now I see nothing has changed. Since
you now even hate me. Will you not allow me to go to the villa?"
Melissa specifically aimed to say these words because she wanted to make Charles feel guilty.
"Okay. Whatever! You can do what you want to do. I don't care anymore." As soon as Charles stopped
talking, he went upstairs. He didn't want to argue with his mother.
Melissa stood up at once to go after him, but David stopped her.
David shook his head and said, "Mrs. Lu, please believe Charles. He is dealing with it. Don't worry."
Melissa saw David's sincere expression and felt annoyed. She didn't say anything further and just
watched Charles go upstairs.
After the argument, Dream Garden became silent. Nobody spoke anymore.
At the Cloud Advertising Company
Sheryl and Isla had just finished a meeting and were going home. When they went downstairs, they
saw Phoebe.
"Hey, Phoebe! How are you? What are your plans tonight? Having a date with your boyfriend?" Isla
said playfully.
As soon as Josef heard what Isla had said, he shook his head helplessly and replied with a smile, "Isla,
please don't make a joke like that. You know Phoebe is shy."
"What? I am serious. I'm not joking!"
Until Josef had become Phoebe's boyfriend, Isla hadn't thought highly of him. Once they became a
couple, Isla realized Josef was very gentle and took good care of Phoebe.
"Ms. Xia, please help me. Mrs. Zhao always makes jokes at my expense," Phoebe said, shaking
Sheryl's arm.
However, she hadn't expected that Sheryl wouldn't support her. Sheryl pretended to push her away and
said with a playful smile, "Oh, what she said is right. I think that you are showing off your affection."
"Ms. Xia! Even you are making jokes now." Phoebe was so shy that her face quickly turned red.
Josef looked at her as he stood beside her. He couldn't help but also smile.
"Ha-ha, Sher, look at Phoebe. She is so shy," Isla said out loud on purpose.
Other coworkers overheard what Isla was saying and gathered around them. At that time, Phoebe's
face was still red. The other coworkers also started teasing Phoebe and asked, "What's wrong with
you, Phoebe? Why is your face red?"
"Is he your boyfriend?" "He's so handsome!"
Everyone was smiling and enjoying themselves.
Phoebe was so shy; she couldn't even answer any of their questions. Josef, who stood beside her,
hugged her immediately and said, "Hello! I'm Josef, Phoebe's boyfriend. Nice to meet everyone!"
Sheryl was satisfied with Josef's words. Because she knew if someone loved you very much, they
couldn't wait to meet your friends and family members.
Josef loved his girlfriend very much, so he wanted to know her friends and colleagues.
"All right, all right everyone. Let's not stop them from having a sweet date. Come on! Let's go!" After all,
Josef was Aron's cousin. Isla didn't want to embarrass him, so she helped by making the people leave
them alone.
After the employees of the Cloud Advertising Company left, Isla became very serious and said to Josef,
"Even though you are Aron's cousin, Phoebe is my sister. If you dare hurt Phoebe, I won't let you go
unpunished."
"Isla, don't worry. I would never hurt Phoebe. I will do my upmost to take care of her." Josef told Isla this
earnestly and made her a promise.
Satisfied with Josef's response, she turned to Sheryl.
Sheryl also felt satisfied with him. She would not worry about Phoebe.
"All right. Go on your date you two," Sheryl urged them.
Sheryl was then about to go home, but Isla stopped her.
"Please take me home with you. Pretty please!" Isla pretended to be homeless.
"Don't make any more jokes, Isla. You can go to your own home now." Sheryl pretended not to want to
take her in like a stray puppy found on the streets.
They always argued with each other, but it would never affect their friendship. Sheryl was overjoyed
that she had a friend like Isla.
"Sheryl, how heartless you are! How can you treat me like this?" Isla acted like a little girl, and grabbed
Sheryl's hand. NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
Sheryl shook her head and said, "Now that you understand, I can tell you that I am bored, staying with
you all the time. So I want..."
They all laughed out loud at what Sheryl said.
"Well, hasn't Aron come back yet?" Sheryl looked at Isla seriously.
Isla pouted and nodded her head to answer Sheryl's question. Obviously, that meant a no.
"All right, let's go home. But you must make a promise. Don't play with the children too late. This
morning, the children didn't want to get up because they were still tired," Sheryl said with a serious
expression on her face.
Isla nodded at once, smiling. She replied, "Don't worry. I won't! I am tired, too. I will go to bed early."
"Alright, I'm starving! Let's have dinner first. The children have already finished their dinner. So we can
get something together if you want?" Sheryl asked as she was looking at her watch.
"Well, what do you want to eat? I'll pay the bill." When Isla made a promise, she always kept it.
Sheryl laughed as she saw Isla putting her hand on her chest as if swearing her life away just for
dinner. She couldn't help saying, "Who did you learn that?"
"From Aron, of course. He always puts his hand on his chest to make a promise. I learned it from him,"
Isla said. After that, she couldn't help but talk endlessly about what Aron had taught her.
"Don't talk too much about your husband. It hurts me. You know that I am single now." Even though it
seemed that Sheryl had forgotten about Charles, she didn't want to hear others talk about their love
lives. She didn't mind telling her friends that she was single now.
"I'm sorry, Sheryl. I promise not to do it again." Isla felt sad for Sheryl. Although Sheryl seemed
outwardly happy, she bet that inwardly Sheryl must be depressed. She couldn't stop worrying about
Sheryl.
