Chapter 1957 An Insane Woman
Chapter 1957 An Insane Woman
Melissa couldn't help but be worried as she watched the exhausted Charles climb up the stairs.
However, she knew she couldn't do anything even if she wanted to. She couldn't get involved in
Charles' relationships again. She'd already done that in the past, and she wouldn't repeat the same
mistakes.
When Charles went back to his room, he couldn't fall asleep. He couldn't get his mind off what had
happened at the marriage registration office.
It had been quite obvious that Sheryl was upset because she was shaking, but she didn't cry a single
tear.
Charles despised himself for being the way he was.
Was the life of some random person more important than his marriage with Sheryl?
The gravity of something's importance is difficult to discern, especially in this case. If Charles had to
choose, he'd choose his life with his wife and kids over some random person's life. However, he knew
he couldn't do that.
Charles wanted to shout and scream in anger, but he wasn't that type of person, so he kept it to
himself.
While Sheryl tried to conceal her sadness, it still showed. To the people around her, it was quite
obvious, and they couldn't help but be worried about her.
Joan then realized it was time to pick up the kids at the kindergarten.
Her mind was racing. The keen kids couldn't help but notice, so they kept badgering her, asking her
what she was thinking. She couldn't bring herself to say a word.
Joan knew that she shouldn't have made the kids worry about her, so she managed a smile. "Nothing.
I'm just thinking about what I should cook for dinner tonight."
"Really?" Clark looked at Joan in disbelief.
Joan felt restless under Clark's scrutinizing gaze. She scratched her head, put on a smile, and looked
away.
When they arrived home, she took the kids upstairs and put their school bags away.
When Sheryl heard the sound of the door opening, she washed her face to make sure she looked fine.
Then she went out to the living room to greet the kids.
"Mommy, why are you home so early today?" Shirley asked as soon as she saw Sheryl.
Clark then glanced at Sheryl too. He asked, sounding confused, "Mommy, why are your eyes red? Did
you cry?"
"Clark, why are you asking that? Mommy didn't cry." Sheryl looked at Clark as if in disbelief. She'd
never admit this to the kids.
"Didn't you?" Clark insisted.
Sheryl got down on her knees to give Clark a smile and a hug. "Mommy's fine. Go wash your hands
and play with your sister while dinner's being cooked."
The two kids merely nodded and turned to leave.
Joan looked at Sheryl with much concern.
Sheryl didn't want Joan to worry about her, so she flashed her a smile and urged her to prepare dinner.
Then she headed to her bedroom.
That night, Sheryl was restless. To her kids, she looked fine, but in herself, she knew something wasn't
right. She was exhausted by the time the kids went to bed.
When she sat back in her chair, tears suddenly came pouring out.
Joan heard the sound of sobbing from the living room. She felt uneasy, so she went to check on Sheryl.
She sighed. "Ms. Xia, what happened?"
"Joan, it's no big deal. Go to sleep." Sheryl then got up and headed to her bedroom and closed the
door.
That night, she couldn't fall asleep. Meanwhile, Charles in Dream Garden stayed awake till the wee
hours of the morning too.
The next day
Charles had gotten up early. As soon as Melissa heard the noise from downstairs, she got up too as
she was worried about Charles.
"Charles, why are you up so early?" Melissa didn't know what Charles was going to do, so she followed
him as he headed outside.
"Mom, I'm going to the office early because I need to get some work done. I need to leave. You can go
back to sleep." Charles didn't want Melissa to worry, so he came up with a lame excuse. He didn't want
to tell her that he was having trouble sleeping.
Charles was Melissa's son. How could she not know what he was thinking and feeling? However, he
didn't want to talk, and she couldn't force him if he wasn't ready.
"Okay. Don't work too hard. Make sure you rest after." Melissa played dumb as she bade goodbye to
Charles. She looked upset.
As soon as Charles got in the car, he got a phone call from David.
"Mr. Lu, Vicky's causing trouble again. The nurses don't know what to do." As much as David didn't
want to disturb Charles so early in the morning, he had no other choice. Nobody could stop this
woman.
"Okay. I'm coming." Charles' face fell at the mention of Vicky.
He hung up the phone and told the driver to go to the hospital.
In the hospital
"Who are you even? Go away. Don't get close to me. No, no, don't get close..." Vicky trembled as she
sat on the bed. She hugged herself, afraid that somebody would approach her.
The nurse was at a loss as to what to do. There were wounds all over this patient's body, but she
wouldn't let the nurse change the dressings of her wounds. If she continued like this, she might get an
infection.
"Miss, I'm the nurse. I need to change your wound dressings. This won't hurt..." the nurse said
cautiously. She used a low voice as if she was talking to a child.
"No. Don't come any closer to me. All of you are bad guys. Bad guys...I want to see Charles. Let me
see Charles... Ah..." Vicky ignored the nurse.
The nurse tried to talk to Vicky for over an hour, but she wasn't getting anywhere. She had no choice
but to leave in frustration.
After the nurse had left, Vicky screeched.
Meanwhile, Charles had just arrived. David had gotten there earlier, and he was waiting for Charles
outside.
"Mr. Lu, you're finally here. The hospital's going to discharge her. Meaning they're kicking her out,"
David blurted out as soon as he saw Charles.
"Fine. Let's go." Charles glanced at David without any emotion on his face, and then they both headed
inside the hospital.
Charles could hear Vicky screaming from outside the room. He instantly frowned to himself.
"Vicky, what on earth are you doing?" Charles said angrily. This woman was the reason why he had to
divorce Sheryl. What else did she want? Did she want him to stay by her side forever?
"Charles, why are you yelling at me? I don't know. I just miss you. I didn't see you last night. I was so
scared..." Vicky stared at Charles, seemingly upset.
Charles didn't know what to say.
To him, Vicky was insane. He didn't know what was going on in her mind because she was insane. She Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
didn't have logic or reasoning.
"Whatever. I need to work, so I can't be here all the time. If you continue behaving like this, I won't be
able to do anything about it." Charles knew he had to be firm with her. After speaking, he made his way
to leave.
