Chapter 165 Rescuing the Child

“Yes, of course. Thank you so much!” the middle– aged woman gratefully said as she wiped her tears away.

The woman, Carla Lister, was heading home with her daughter when the kidnapping took place.

“Caspian, her daughter got kidnapped. I want to help her rescue her daughter. Can I?” Macy asked after

getting into the car.

She was impulsive at times, but since Caspian was still her superior, she did consult him on such matters

.

“Sure. Let’s move quickly!” Caspian replied at once.

Though he had been sitting in the car, he overheard Macy’s conversation with Carla and knew what happ

ened.

Even if Macy had not offered to help, Caspian would have done something, too.

When confronted with such malicious acts, he was determined to teach the culprits a lesson. Macy drove

off in the direction Carla reported to her.

She drove so quickly that

Carla kept shrieking at the top of her lungs. On the other hand, Caspian remained fairly calm. He knew M

acy was a good driver, so he was not worried about his safety.

“Can you …

drive a little slower? I’m scared!” Carla gasped in terror.

“If I slow down, we won’t be able to catch up to your daughter,” Macy said.

She needed to drive as quickly as possible to chase down the kidnappers.

Carla nodded before clutching the seat tightly.

She told Macy the license plate number.

As Carla had already reported the crime to the Inspector General’s office, the inspectors would be jumpin

g into action as well.

Joey was out in the field dealing with something when she received the report about the kidnapping, so s

he assigned a team to hunt down the kidnappers.

By the time Macy started pursuing the kidnappers, Joey had already gone after them.

The inspectors had access to the surveillance footage in the city, so they used the van’s license

Joey received word that the kidnappers were fleeing to the north of Southlake City.

The SUV sped down the road as Macy relied on her sixth sense to give chase. She was flooring the ped

al and pushing the vehicle to its limits, though she made sure to keep it under control. If Caspian got into

an accident while she was driving, she would never be able to make up for it. While it was important to s

ave Carla’s daughter, Caspian’s safety was even more important. Thus, Macy

stayed alert the whole time and made sure she only drove as fast as she safely could.

Joey was driving along the outskirts of Southlake City when she was startled by an SUV shooting past h

er.

Did the driver have a death wish? She felt as if the SUV had flown past her.

Joey stepped on the gas as well. Time was of the essence, and she needed to rescue the child.

Soon, Macy spotted a van that matched Carla’s description. The plate number was a match as well.

“That’s the van, right?” Macy asked Carla.

“Yes! That’s it! That’s the van!” Carla exclaimed in agitation.

“Got it!” Macy replied with a nod as she slowed down.

Since they had tracked the kidnappers down, it would be easy enough to rescue the child. For now, they

had to ensure they did not alert the kidnappers by tailing

them too closely. If not, the kidnappers might even end up hurting the child.

Meanwhile, the driver in the fleeing van exclaimed in fear, “Bad news! Someone’s tailing us!”

He noticed the SUV through the rearview mirror.

The two men in the back seat turned around and spotted the SUV as well.

“Dragon’s Hill is just up ahead. If we enter the mountain, we can shake them off our tail, or we can just d

eal with them there!” the bald guy in the back seat said viciously.

“Got it!” the driver replied as he sped up and drove the van toward Dragon’s Hill.

“Release the child if you know what’s good for you. I’ll consider sparing your lives!” Macy said

If not for Caspian’s plan to save the child, she would have attacked them right away.

The moment the three men spotted Macy, their eyes nearly fell out of their sockets. They did not expect su

“Alright! Capture her alive and kill the man and the other woman.”

The three men were all interested in Macy.

After hearing what they said, Macy was even more furious. How dared they lust after her?

“Mommy! Save me, Mommy!” the little girl cried.

“Let go of my child!” Carla screamed.

Panicked, she ran toward the three men.

“Stop! Don’t go forward!” Macy shouted. She was taken aback by Carla’s sudden move.

If Carla rushed over there now, she would either end up dead or be taken as a hostage.

Just then, the men brought out their guns and pointed them at Caspian and Carla.

Macy and Caspian were caught off guard.

Carla was terrified and dared not take another step forward.

The guns scared her witless.

Carla froze in panic. She did not know what to do.

Then, three ear–splitting sounds echoed along the valley of Dragon’s Hill.
