Chapter 682
Chapter 682
Once classes were over, Silas, Adrian, and Aileen left the kindergarten.
Maurice was waiting for them at the gate.
"Dad!" Aileen cried out, throwing herself into Maurice's arms.
Maurice squatted down and picked her up.
"Sweetie, did you have a good time in the kindergarten today?"
Maurice lovingly caressed her head before turning to Adrian and Silas.
Aileen's face was red as she said excitedly, "Yes! Silas also told us that he would be taking us to visit Great-grandma and Great-grandpa later!"
Stunned, Maurice said, "Let's not go to see them today. First, we should go to your mother's house, okay?" "Ah... But I miss them so much."
Aileen curled her lips in disappointment.
In confusion, Adrian asked, "Why? Is something wrong?"
As though nothing had happened, Maurice lied, "Well, it is because your great-grandparents are decorating their house so that you guys can move in with them later. They even told me that they were arranging a very cute room for you, Aileen!"
"Really? That's awesome!"
Aileen was easily coaxed and became happy again.
However, Silas sensed that something was wrong, but he still did not ask anything.
As soon as they returned to Eliana's house, Silas secretly pulled Maurice aside and asked, "Is something wrong, Uncle Maurice?"
Maurice knew that he couldn't hide it from the smart Silas, so he told him the truth.
"Yes, something happened, and now your great-grandparents don't support my marriage with Eliana. In order to prevent the marriage, they have moved out temporarily and are refusing to see me."
"Is that true?"
Silas lowered his head sadly.
Maurice frowned and asked, "Did you already know this?"This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Upon hearing that, Silas took out his phone from his pocket, on which there was a message from Nancy. 'Silas, your great-grandfather and I won't accept your uncle's marriage to Eliana, so we've decided to leave for the time being. We'll come back after your uncle is married. You can stay at home at ease. Don't worry about us, okay?"
"Uncle Maurice, don't they really like Eliana? Will they not come to the wedding?"
Silas was rather dejected because they were all a family. Why couldn't his great-grandparents accept that? Maurice didn't know how to explain the grudge between the Moran family and the White family to Silas who was just a child, so he tried his best to comfort him, "Silas, the adults' matters should not concern you. I am sure that they will eventually figure it out. But you must promise me that you will not let Eliana, Adrian, or Aileen know about this, okay? It will only made them sad..."
"Okay," said Silas, nodding.
Little did they know that Adrian and Aileen had already seen them while hiding in the corner. Noticing their strange behavior, Aileen was about to confront them, but Adrian stopped her.
"Something must be wrong! We should tell Mommy now!"
Aileen and Adrian immediately explained it to Eliana.
Eliana also found it strange. Since they were going to get married, what could Maurice possibly want to hide from her?
That evening, just when they were about to go to bed, Eliana began to question Maurice.
"Maurice, are you hiding something from me? If you don't make it clear, then you can't sleep here tonight!"
Maurice's heart jolted, but he remained calm.
"Eliana, what are you talking about? How could I hide something from you?"
Eliana debunked it. "Don't quibble. The children saw you conspiring with Silas!"
Maurice breathed a sigh of relief after realizing that she did not actually know what had happened.
With a bitter smile, he teased, 'What could we conspire? I was only planning a wedding day surprise for you with him, and you found it!'
"Really?" Eliana still didn't believe it.
"Of course!" Maurice promised.
In an attempt to make her forget about it, he immediately pounced on her and pressed her to the bed.
"We are getting married soon. Don't doubt me anymore. Let me take care of everything..."
