Chapter 363
Chapter 363
Naomi's brow furrowed, "Andre, something happened at home."
Three minutes later, Andre got an idea of what happened. The smile on his face disappeared, and the
warmth in his eyes directed at his young wife was replaced by a steely glint.
His brow furrowed, his gazes cold as ice. He stood up, his tall figure striding over to the window,
looking down at the brilliant lights of the foreign city beneath the hundred-story building.
"Does Mia know about this?" he asked.
Naomi replied, “They asked the kids to leave before they left.”
Considering Mia's personality, Andre figured that if she saw the police, she would definitely become
suspicious. If she became suspicious, how could she obediently stay out of it? “Naomi, Mia and Leo
already know,” Andre plainly stated the fact.
Naomi blinked in confusion. “But I saw them leave with my own eyes.”
Andre rubbed his temples, looking down at the hustle and bustle of the city below, everything shrunken
as if he could hold it all in the palm of his hand. No matter how capable he was or how much he could
control, there was one young wife he just couldn’t keep in check.
Andre told Naomi, “The focus right now is not on our family. Dad and big brother have gone to the
police station to explain what happened. Don’t worry. I’ll send someone over later to find out more. You
just keep an eye on Mia and Leo at home.”
Thinking of her husband being taken away, Naomi’s heart was a mess. “Andre, do you think your
brother could be framed? That's what happened to Dad years ago, and he was under investigation for
more than half a year.”
She was worried her husband would follow the same path as her father-in-law. Once he was
suspended and investigated, even if there was nothing wrong, things could go awry over time. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Remembering the past, Andre scoffed, "No."
Perhaps affected by Andre's commanding presence, Naomi seemed less worried than before.
“Naomi, I’ll hang up now. I need to talk to Mia.”
Thinking about hat little girl, Andre's head started to throb again. What worried Andre the most when he
was away was his dainty little wife back home. Whenever something happened, the first thing that
came to his mind was how best to take care of his young wife.
Having returned to the bedroom, Mia sat at the foot of the bed and then fell backward onto it. Her two
legs were left dangling off the side, swinging casually. As Andre's video call came through, Mia lifted
both hands, tapping the accept button. Then, her handsome husband popped up on her screen. Mia
looked at her husband with a beaming smile, "Honey. Missing me again?"
Andre got straight to the point, "You can't meddle in what's happening with Dad and big brother.
Remember the 'five don'ts' you promised me. If you don't behave, I'll give the present I prepared for you
to someone else."
Mia blinked in confusion. Wait, why was he threatening her already? He hadn't even asked her if she
knew what was going on yet? She glanced to the side with her innocent eyes, pretending to be
clueless, "Honey, I don't understand what you're saying."
Andre looked at his mischievous wife in the video and said, "Drop the act."
Mia pouted, complaining, "But I really have no idea."
Andre gazed at his beloved wife on the screen, "Mia, I know you better than anyone. The situation with
Dad and Leo is not something you should be involved in. Don't cause trouble. We'll sort it out when I
get home."
Mia thought to herself: You said the same thing last time, but I still didn't behave.
Andre added, "If you don't behave, I'll have Dad take you back to your parents' house for a few days,
until I can come home and pick you up."
Mia shook her head, "No, I can't go back. With big brother and Dad not at home, I need to stay and
keep Naomi company. I have to wait for my dear husband at home. Besides, our son is very particular
about his sleeping environment. If he doesn't sleep in the bed his father slept in, he'll kick me in the
stomach all night."
Andre sighed. She was using their son as an excuse again. Was their son really that capable now?
"Mia, don't be stubborn," Andre said, away from home, but his heart was still home. He didn't have the
heart to scold her, so he had no choice but try to persuade her.
Mia angrily hung up on her husband's video call, mumbling, "Hmph, I don't want to listen to you
anymore. You're no fun."
Andre, on the receiving end of the hang-up, was speechless. One should really not spoil their wife too
much.
The man who claimed wouldn't spoil his wife, once again called Naomi, "Naomi, keep an eye on Mia
tomorrow and don't let her go out."
"Does she really know?"
Andre hummed in confirmation, then added, "Also, be prepared for Molly's sudden return."
Naomi nodded, "Okay."
In the middle of the night, Hansen and Bruce returned. Mia was in the midst of her fourth meal, and
when she heard the noise, she took her bowl and fork straight to the living room.
The casualness of it all left the house staff dumbfounded. Eating in the living room? With Mia, yes.
She sat on the couch with her bowl, which contained a creamy potato soup. "Hansen, are you hungry?"
Hansen sat up straight, glancing at his daughter-in-law's soup. It looked delicious. He looked at the
butler and asked quietly, "Is there any more in the pot?"
The butler nodded, "Yes."
Everything was self-explanatory.
Later, Hansen and Mia sat in the living room, eating and chatting. "Can I ask you something?" Mia
began fishing for information.
Hansen was a man with boundaries, "Your husband specifically called and threatened me not to tell
you anything."
Mia pouted, "My sneaky husband. Meanie Andre. He doesn't love me at all now."
The father and son of the Cedillo family were back, but the father and son of the Byrne family were still
under investigation.
After dinner, Mia was dragged back to her bedroom by Naomi. On the way, Mia stepped backward,
"Naomi, I need to take a walk after eating."
Naomi teased, "You, walk? Who would believe that?"
Mia looked upset. Why did everyone know she was lazy? How could she be lazy? Wasn't she quite
diligent?
Mia was sent back to her room, so she could only send a message to Leo, [I dropped the ball. Your
turn.]
Leo replied: [Useless.]
A moment later, he replied again: [Watch me.]
In the living room, Naomi appeared and asked her husband, "Bruce, where did you go? Did those
people give you any hard time?"
Bruce reassured his wife, "No. Dad and I went to explain the disappearance of Molly sixteen years ago,
as well as the process of finding her."
"What about the Byrne family? Now that you're back, what's happening with them?"
Bruce patted his wife's hand, "The Byrne family is in a bit of trouble."
Chad was suspended from duty. His impending promotion to the squad leader was also put on hold.
Earlier in the police station, he had handed over all his identification cards and the keys to his office.
Under the watchful eyes of his former subordinates, Chad took off his police cap, agreed to cooperate
with the internal investigation, and promised to cease all official duties during the investigation period.
Kendrick was also facing disciplinary action, because sixteen years ago, he knowingly raised Molly as
his own daughter, letting her live under the stolen identity of Jade.
Even if the Cedillo family chose not to press charges, it seemed as if the higher-ups had the Byrne
family in their crosshairs.
Owing to the relationship between the Byrne and Cedillo families, Bruce had to maintain his impartiality.
He was not allowed to inquire about the progress of the Byrne case, let alone interfere in its
investigation.
