Summer stopped in her tracks, calmly meeting everyone's gaze, certain she didn't know these people. Even from three or four meters away, she sensed their hostility and prepared herself mentally. "We're Angel's fans!" said a girl with a nose ring, stepping forward and raising her voice. "We're not here for any other reason! If the law can't punish you, we'll teach you a lesson ourselves!"
"Don't feel wronged! My Angel was beaten like this. Even if it wasn't you who did it, you're still involved! Own up to it! Don't deny it!"
Summer understood. She wanted to explain, but they weren't willing to listen. The girls, full of anger, were about to rush at her.
Instinctively, Summer turned to run but collided into a solid chest, hitting her forehead. In her panic, she looked up and saw Harlan's handsome face.
Harlan was a wealthy second-generation heir, raised in luxury and trained in martial arts. His eyes flashed coldly as he heard everything that was said. He instinctively wrapped his arm around Summer's back and then placed her behind him.
The girls stopped in their tracks when they saw this man appear out of nowhere. Their eyes were full of resentment, but none dared to step forward.
Standing beside Harlan, Summer glanced at him and then at the girls, unsure of what to say.
"Want to fight?" Harlan asked with a warning look. "One by one or all together?"
The girls could tell he was trained; they could feel his muscles through his clothes. They knew they couldn't win and realized this was a film set.
Harlan saw their hesitation. "Don't bother Summer again. Angel's situation has nothing to do with her. If you end up in jail over an idol, it's not worth it," he advised warmly. "A criminal record will affect three generations; you still need to get married and have children."
At that moment, he was the voice of reason! The girls no longer wanted to fight and their anger towards Summer dissipated. They had probably acted impulsively earlier.
They took a few steps back and quickly turned to leave.
Summer watched their retreating figures, noting their rough attire, and broke into a cold sweat.
"Thank you," she said, turning to the man in front of her. "If it weren't for you, I might have..."
"No need to thank me," Harlan replied with a smile, genuinely relieved for her. He raised his hand as if to brush her hair but Summer instinctively stepped back.
Harlan's hand hung awkwardly in mid-air, still smiling as their eyes met.
Summer pressed her lips together.
This scene caught Spencer's eye from a distance. His expression darkened with displeasure as he started to move forward just as Summer walked away from Harlan.
Harlan watched her retreating figure,
lowering his hand and his smile
fading. But thinking about how
Summer almost got hurt because of Spencer's impulsiveness made him feel he had to release his pent-up anger.
Just as he turned around and was about to take a step, he saw Spencer standing not far away. He had no idea when Spencer had arrived.
The two men locked eyes, each gaze sharp in its own way.
