Chapter 956 Scheming Again
At the manor.
Inside the ward.
Bailey was lying on Artemis' chest.
The two had just made love, and the room's temperature hadn't yet cooled down.
Artemis reached out to hold her hand, saying in a teasing tone, “Stop fidgeting, just lean on me
properly.”
Bailey pursed her lips at that.
She preferred him when he was moved by emotions. Once he sobered up, he became that sharp and
decisive mastermind again, a side of him she didn't care much for.
“What do you think we should do next? The situation within the Rogers family is incredibly complex.
Trying to get them to willingly hand over the Fragrance Journal, I'm afraid, will be extremely difficult.”
Artemis lowered his head to look at her, a glint of light flickering in his eyes.
Seeing Artemis in this state, it was clear that he was up to his old tricks of scheming against others
again.
It seems that this man only truly relaxes when he's entwined with me, thinking of nothing else,
completely immersed in the act of love.
Right after that, his mind would immediately start to spin rapidly again.
Whenever she was with him, she didn't need to be on her intellectual toes. She could just blissfully let
him hold her in his arms and pamper her.
“Mr. Luther, are you planning on causing trouble again?”
Artemis raised his eyebrows slightly and chuckled lightly. “I'd only do that to you.”
Bailey glared at him, chiding, “We're discussing serious matters here. Stop being so slick.”
Artemis pinched her nose, lightly reminding her, “Don't worry about the complex situation within the
Rogers family for now. Just remember that two strong forces cannot coexist in the same place. The
eldest son of the Rogers family was born of a mistress, while the second son is the head of the family.
They have been estranged for many years, constantly plotting each other's demise. We just need to
assist one of them to profit.”
Bailey's eyes lit up. “So you're saying that we could help Mr. Joseph overthrow Mr. Broderick, then ask
the former to hand over the Fragrance Journal. Since we've done him a favor, he probably won't refuse.
However, Mr. Broderick's influence in the Rogers family is so strong that even the head of the Rogers
family is helpless against him. How could we outsiders possibly affect him?”
Artemis' lips curled into a smile, his eyes gleaming with shrewdness. “If Mr. Broderick and Kurt join
forces to overthrow the head of the Venom Valley, do you think we could deal a heavy blow to Mr.
Broderick and Kurt if we teamed up with the head of the Venom Valley?”
Bailey burst into laughter at that.
This man, as always, loves to take advantage of a crisis.
“Mr. Luther, your plan is excellent. I've heard that Old Mr. White has been bedridden for years, and his
young wife has effectively taken over all his powers. If we want to collaborate with him, we must first
cure his hidden ailment, allowing him to regain control.”
“Then I must trouble you with this, Mrs. Luther. After all, I know nothing about medicine.”
Bailey reached out and hooked her arms around his neck, grinning as she said, “Then you'll be in
charge of negotiating with Old Mr. White. With this ally, we won't be at a disadvantage everywhere we
go.”
“Mm-hmm.”
The two spent some more time cuddling in the room before getting up.
Upon learning that Cameron was distressed and had locked himself in the lab, Bailey quickly
composed herself. After briefly speaking with Artemis, she hurriedly left the ward and headed for the
lab.
When she arrived at the laboratory, she saw Cameron standing by the equipment, conducting an
experiment through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
She stood at the door for quite a while, making sure that Cameron was not venting his frustrationContent property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
before she finally stepped in.
On her way to the laboratory, she had already learned about the situation from Simon.
She always knew Kurt was despicable, but she never imagined he could stoop this low. He even used
a photo of him entangled with Blaze to provoke Cameron.
If Cameron's endurance was even slightly weaker, he might have already collapsed by now.
“Cameron, can you share with me what's on your mind?”
She had no intention of prying into his thoughts, and she simply wanted to have a chat with him.
His strong willpower is one thing, but alleviating the inner repression is another.
Cameron glanced at her, a gentle smile playing on his lips. “I'm wondering, once I get Blaze back, how
should I go about healing her wounds,” he mused.
“Bailey, you're a woman, so can you teach me how to do it? She used to protect me, and now, it's my
turn to protect her.”
Bailey took the vessel from his hand and brought it close to examine it.
“It's simple. Just treat her with all your heart. If she tries to push you away, stick to her relentlessly. One
day, she will be moved by your persistence. The reason Blaze was able to push through everything and
survive is likely not just to take revenge on Kurt, but more importantly, it's because you told her you
liked her that night, giving her hope. It was this very response that gave her immense courage. Once
she's saved, treat her well, and don't let her down again. Her wounds will heal. Cameron, give me three
days. I promise to rescue her, and I will not go back on my word.”
Cameron nodded with a smile. “I know Kurt is currently collaborating with Mr. Broderick. He won't
threaten us for now, so we can act covertly and catch him off guard.”
“Right, as long as you understand, that's all that matters.”
The Rogers residence's main house.
Stephanie stood in the middle of the living room, narrowing her eyes as she stared at Joseph, who was
sitting on the couch. She tried to reason with him. “Joseph, Luna is a child we've watched grow up. Are
you really going to stand by and do nothing while she's in danger?”
Joseph gave her a cold glance and replied in a deep voice, “I agreed to hand over the Fragrance
Journal, but the first branch of the family disagreed. They fear that I might let Catherine take over as
the head of the family.”
Stephanie sighed silently, then said in a leisurely manner, “From the start, you never intended to hand
over the position of family head to Cath. Why didn't you explain this to the elders? If you promise not to
let Cath take power, they will naturally agree to you handing over the Fragrance Journal. You should—”
Before she could finish her nagging, Joseph stood up from the couch and stated angrily, “If I tell them
not to let Catherine ascend to power, their knife will be aimed at Harvey. Do you want to lose your
son?”
“B-But you can't treat Cath like a pawn. After all, she's our daughter.”
“That's a woman's selflessness. If she hadn't stepped forward to shield him, your son would have died
countless times by now.”
Stephanie instinctively wanted to retort, but Joseph didn't give her the chance as he continued, “If you
truly want to be a good mother, persuade your precious daughter to come back. She's been away from
home for too long. Those malicious hands have reached out to Harvey again. Without her shielding
him, your son won't last much longer.”
Stephanie found herself being caught in a dilemma.
Both are my children and dear to me. Although one isn't as precious as the other, they both come from
me. How can I sacrifice one to save another?
Seeing her hesitation, Joseph spoke again. “Harvey is not naturally dumb, and he was made this way.
I've found an acupuncturist who is confident that he can restore Harvey to his normal state.”
After hearing that, Stephanie felt a surge of joy in her heart.
“Is it true what you're saying? You're not lying to me, are you?”
“Why would I deceive you when it concerns our son's entire life? However, his treatment must be
conducted in secret. Therefore, Catherine must return to divert the attention of those sly and wicked
people in our family. You must personally make the trip and bring her back.”
