Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 899 Parasitic Fragrance Acting Up

With a smile, Bailey tucked the urn into Veikko's arms.

“Since it's a transaction, we naturally have to keep our promise. Find a city where no one knows you,

and lay your mom's ashes to rest there.”

Having said that, she strolled toward her car in the distance.

After leaving the suburban mansion, she hurried straight to the valley.

It was not like she didn't trust Veikko, but since both brothers had been blinded by hatred, she was

worried that the situation might spiral out of control.

Shaun's death didn't matter much, but it wasn't worth it for Veikko to perish alongside him.

After instructing his personal bodyguard to take care of the aftermath, Veikko hurriedly caught up with

Bailey.

“You're not the type to easily give up. Do you still have a trick up your sleeve?” he asked.

Bailey winked at him, a smirk playing on her lips. “You know me pretty well. Nice. All these years I

spent grooming you aren't in vain, after all. Only the boy is the real deal, while the mother is a fake. I

used disguise skills to make a suicide attacker impersonate Mrs. Carter. Veikko, Shaun is not your only

enemy. Mrs. Carter is, too. She was the one who caused your mother's death years ago. Since you're

determined to bring down the Carter family, we can't let Shaun die just yet. That b*stard is currently Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

impotent and in an unstable emotional state, and his 'wife' is a loyal suicide attacker I've groomed

personally. I'll make her stir up trouble behind the scenes. Just wait. We'll get to enjoy a good show

soon.”

Veikko was rendered speechless.

As expected from Bailey. Ruthless as ever.

Just as the two of them reached the convoy, the door of a car in the middle swung open. Caridee

jumped out of the car and threw herself into Veikko's arms.

Inhaling his familiar scent, she burst into tears and bawled loudly.

The grievances in her heart burst forth like water from a broken dam.

Punching his chest, she complained, “You jerk! Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for

you to come to my rescue? But where were you? You didn't even show up!”

Veikko held her tightly, pressing her firmly in his embrace, his voice cracking as he said, “I'm sorry. It's

my fault. I'm useless. But I promise you there won't be a next time. From now on, you should stay at

home where it's safe. It's too dangerous to follow me around.”

The minute she heard that, Caridee's anger boiled over. She forcefully pushed him away and stormed

back into the car, fuming.

Veikko was taken aback by her sudden change in mood.

What's wrong with her?

Bailey couldn't help pressing her hand on her forehead, sighing. “Oh, Veikko, you're only making things

worse by saying that. She needs consolation, yet here you are telling her to stay in the Luther

residence instead of following you. You're only annoying her.”

With a smile, Bailey tucked the urn into Veikko's arms.

Veikko couldn't help smiling wryly.

I believe that it's the safest and most effective way to keep her safe. Is there anything wrong with that?

Bailey patted him on the shoulder and lifted her chin in the direction of the car. “Go on and comfort her.

She's quite strong, you know. She had been using hypnosis to deal with Shaun these past few days,

and she hadn't let him lay a finger on her.”

Veikko's heart ached for Caridee as guilt flashed past his eyes.

Hypnosis can be quite draining. That silly girl had been fighting back with hypnosis all along, and it

must've taken a toll on her body. Fortunately, she was fine, or I'll never be able to atone for what

happened.

After Veikko climbed into the car, Bailey strolled toward another vehicle.

Artemis approached her when she had just taken two steps. “Simon just called me, saying that the

parasitic fragrance in Luna's body has started acting up again, and it's really bad. Judging by his tone,

the situation seems quite serious. Let's hurry back and see if we can lend a hand.”

Bailey's heart sank as she instinctively quickened her pace.

“Last night, Catherine told me that she has developed a new type of flower pollen that can effectively

control the outbreak of parasitic fragrance. How has it worsened just over the course of one night and

morning?”

Another possibility popped up in her mind as she spoke.

Is someone getting impatient and stirring up trouble? None of us are at home this morning. It's indeed

the perfect opportunity for those with ill intentions to strike.

Artemis seemed to have read her mind and said in a deep voice, “There's no need to keep those evil

people around. Let's figure out a way to set a trap and get rid of them in one fell swoop. They're

courting death for messing with my niece.”

In the infirmary at the research base, Simon was pacing back and forth in the corridor.

He had no knowledge of medicine or perfume-blending, so all he could do was wait outside anxiously.

Before he had a child, he never really understood what it was like being a father.

After his daughter came along, however, he gradually understood what his brother meant when he said

he'd give his daughter the whole world if he could.

He was willing to sacrifice everything in exchange for Luna's health, including his own life.

Alas, Luna was born with the parasitic fragrance, and it was simply impossible to transfer it to someone

else.

Though he wished to bear her sufferings, the heavens wouldn't allow it.

At that moment, Bailey and Artemis rushed over from the stairs.

After coming to a stop in front of Simon, Bailey asked with a frown, “What's the situation inside? Who's

in there?”

Simon glanced over his shoulder and gripped Bailey's arm firmly. “Bailey, please save her. You're the

only person I trust. I know you'll find a way.”

Bailey could tell the man was visibly frightened and softened her tone, reassuring him, “Catherine is an

expert in the art of perfumery. She won't let anything happen to the child. Calm down and tell me about

the situation. How did it flare up?”

Frustrated, Simon tugged at his own hair restlessly and said, “I don't even know what's going on. When

Catherine and I returned, we found Luna lying in the garden with no one else around.”

Luna was alone? Where was Zayron? Didn't I ask that rascal to stay by her side?

“Is Catherine and Blaze tending to her inside?”

“Yes, and Cameron. He went in later than them.”

Bailey was taken aback.

Cameron's back?

The door to the emergency treatment room swung open at that moment, and Cameron stepped out.

Bailey quickly approached the man and asked, “How is she doing?”

Cameron's expression was grim as he said in a deep voice, “Someone has stimulated the parasitic

fragrance in her body and awakened the dormant parasitic worm. The prohibited fragrance of the

Rogers family is even more terrifying than the Yablon family's Soul Reaper. I attempted to use toxins to

exterminate those parasitic worms, but the effect was minimal. I barely managed to sustain her

heartbeat. From my experience, we'll still have to find the answers we need from the Rogers family's

Fragrance Journal.”

Bailey furrowed her brows. The situation was far worse than she had imagined.

“What has awakened the parasitic worm?”

Catherine's voice sounded from the room. “It's a special aerosol from the Rogers family. It must be the

work of Eunice.”

Bailey questioned, “Is there a way to make those parasitic worms fall asleep once more?”

Catherine shook her head. “Since Eunice is determined to lay her hands on Luna at all costs, that

means she didn't leave us another way out. We only have two options left. One is to exterminate the

parasitic worms, and the other is to give up on Luna. To put it bluntly, it's either live or die, with each

having a fifty percent chance.”

“What do you plan to do?” Bailey asked.

Even though she had her suspicions, she still hoped she could stop Catherine from making rash

decisions.

Some decisions would confine her for a lifetime, which wasn't worth it at all.
