Chapter 1053 Hunter's Phone Call
Chapter 1053 Hunter's Phone Call
Sydney already had some slight inferiority complex and sensitivity. If Mr. McDaniel told her that she was not worthy of Julien and hoped that she would take the initiative to break up with him, with Sydney's character, she would not forget it and would start to doubt whether it was right for her to be with Julien or not.
After all, the one who said that to her was Julien's respected teacher.
His respected teacher did not think they were suitable. It would be strange if Sydney did not have such thoughts.
Julien rubbed his temples.
It seemed that in the future, he must not let his teacher meet with Sydney.
He had to go to see Mr. McDaniel less lest Mr. McDaniel say these words every time they met.
Julien exhaled lightly and finally called Sydney.
Sydney was dealing with paperwork at the moment.
But due to the gossip news online, she was so distracted that she processed documents much slower than usual.
However, she had no choice. If she didn't process the documents, she would be constantly annoyed by what was going on online.
Thus, she could only use her work to numb herself so that she wouldn't think too much about the things on the Internet.
Suddenly, the cell phone that was put aside rang. It was a video call.
Sydney stopped writing and twisted her head. She saw that it was from Julien.
She guessed Julien was done with his work and that Zach had told him about what had happened online, so Julien was calling her.
Sydney looked at Julien's name flashing on the screen, her red lips pursed. Her expression was a little complicated, and as she hesitated to answer the phone, she was sunk in thought.
In the end, the video call ended automatically. Only then did she come to her senses.
Sydney bit her lip, a trace of chagrin in her eyes.
She was annoyed that she had suddenly gotten distracted and missed Julien's video call.
However, she was only annoyed. She had no intention of calling back.
The relationship between the person behind the curtain and Julien made her feel insecure.
She was afraid that Julien had already known who the mastermind was and would ask her to let it go.
If so, she would not know how to face Julien and her feelings for him.
So it was good that she missed the video call.
At least, she could be less apprehensive.
"Ms. Raines." There were a few knocks on the door and Sean's voice.
Sydney looked up out of her trance and saw Sean standing in the doorway. Realizing something, Sydney quickly got up. "You're back."
Sean nodded and walked over.
Sydney stared at her and asked eagerly, "How is it?"
Sean shook her head and replied with some shame, "Ms. Raines, just as we guessed before, the surveillance video was deleted."
Instantly, the eagerness on Sydney's face disappeared.
Was she disappointed?
Yes, but not much.
After all, she had guessed it long ago and was prepared.
So the answer was just a confirmation of the previous guess.
"Ms. Raines, what should we do now?" Sean looked at her. "They made a big hotel delete the surveillance video. The person behind it is not simple."
"I already know who did it," Sydney suddenly said.
Sean was surprised. "Really?"
"Uh-huh."
"That's great. Then even if that person is not simple, as long as this matter is left to Mr. Flint, everything will be fine. That person definitely won't dare to disobey Mr. Flint. Once Mr. Flint asks, that person will hand over the surveillance video," Sean said happily.
Sydney's face, however, was devoid of any expression.
As Sean saw this, her delighted face froze. "Ms. Raines, what's wrong? You seem unhappy."
Sydney gave a wry smile. "How can I be happy? Do you know who did it?"
Sean shook her head.
If she knew, she wouldn't have asked earlier.
Sydney closed her eyes. "It's Mr. McDaniel's granddaughter."
"Mr. McDaniel?"
"Uh-huh." Sydney nodded. "Mr. McDaniel is Julien's teacher, and Mr. McDaniel's granddaughter is Julien's childhood friend. Do you think I can be happy with their relationships?"
Sean gasped, "How could this be? The person behind this has such a background!"
Sean was not talking about Miss McDaniel's family background.
She was referring to Miss McDaniel's relationship with Julien.
"Ms. Raines, then will this make it impossible for Mr. Flint to get justice for you?" Sean looked at Sydney worriedly.
Sydney answered, "Pretty much. Just now Julien called me, but I didn't answer. I was afraid that he would ask me to let her off because I don't know who is more important to him, me or the McDaniel family."
"That is difficult to compare." Sean sighed, "A teacher and a lover. If Mr. Flint chooses you, outsiders will say that he doesn't respect his teacher and is ungrateful, but if he chooses his teacher, you... In short, Mr. Flint is caught in the middle."
Sydney didn't deny it.
Julien was indeed in a quandary.
"Let's just see if Mr. Flint has a better solution." Sean glanced at Sydney.
Sydney didn't say anything. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Sean pushed her glasses. "Damn it! If the person behind were a young rich lady without any relationship with Mr. Flint, this matter would be solved easily."
"Yeah." Sydney smiled self-mockingly.
Sean added, "Ms. Raines, if I'm not mistaken, Mr. McDaniel's granddaughter is much younger than Mr. Flint. Mr. Flint is Mr. McDaniel's student, so Mr. McDaniel's granddaughter is as old as Mr. Flint's niece. She likes a man of her uncle's age. This is really funny."
"They're not relatives anyway." Sydney lowered her eyes.
"Even so, they are of different generations. Well, I don't think Miss McDaniel is a good person," Sean said.
Sydney did not answer.
'A good person?
'If she were a good person, she wouldn't have done such a thing.'
Obviously, Mr. McDaniel's granddaughter was in the same category as Lyra and Greta.
There might be more trouble waiting for Sydney.
Sydney picked up her coffee and took a sip, feeling vexed.
"Ms. Raines," Sean called out to her.
Sydney looked up at her. "What's up?"
Sean took a deep breath. "Ms. Raines, right now we are not sure how Mr. Flint will resolve this matter, and the surveillance video in the hotel was deleted, so we can't use the surveillance video to refute the gossip on the Internet. How about we let Mr. Chase clear things up? Maybe it will work."
Sydney shook her head. "No, no one on the Internet knows who the man in the photos is, so I don't want to drag Luke into this. I'll handle it alone."
"But..."
Sean was interrupted by the ringing of Sydney's cell phone.
Sydney looked down.
Originally, she thought it was Julien again, but it turned out to be Hunter.
In the past two months, because of the political exam, Hunter had been busy going to the mountains and villages to investigate the local conditions and revising for the written examination.
So Sydney almost didn't have any contact with Hunter during this period.
She had nearly forgotten about Hunter.
He actually called her now.
"Wait a bit," Sydney said to Sean before picking up her cell phone, swiping the screen, and answering the call. "Hello?"
