She's out of Your League Now (Millie and Winston)

At the hospital, Millie was waiting for the elevator when she suddenly bumped into Logan and Harriet. Their expressions immediately turned somber upon seeing her.

Millie thought it was best to let bygones be bygones. As long as the Lowells didn’t cause trouble for her again, she didn’t want to hold a grudge.

Harriet, feeling somewhat ashamed, turned away. She couldn’t face Millie at all.

Without speaking to either of them, Millie entered the elevator. Once she was gone, Logan said, “Mom, we’ve learned our lesson. Let’s not target Millie anymore.”

Harriet let out a deep sigh, regret washing over her. She had indeed acted too rashly.

“Logan, I’m really worried about your sister.” Harriet was truly frustrated.

A myriad of emotions flickered across Logan’s face. Hearing Joanna’s name brought Millie to mind.

Millie and Vanessa emerged together, both wearing white coats. Millie then expressed her gratitude, Thank you, Dr. Xander. I might have been left hanging all night if it weren’t for you that day.”

“No need to thank me. It was nothing,” Vanessa replied, shaking her head.

She continued, “Dr. Caldwell, actually, the first person I called was Mr. Greer.”

Millie was surprised to hear that. It was no wonder Winston had come looking for her that day. It

turned out Vanessa had contacted him.

“When he learned about your situation, he was quite worried about you,” Vanessa said and observed Millie’s expression.

Millie remained calm and smiled faintly. “Well, that shows he has some decency left.”

If Winston weren’t worried at all, it would prove he was utterly heartless, which was terrifying.

“Dr. Caldwell, are you really ending things with Mr. Greer? Lalways thought you two were a perfect match. Joanna doesn’t hold a candle to you,” Vanessa commented softly and gently

However, Millie merely smiled and brushed it off. She didn’t want to talk about Winston anymore.

When they pushed open the conference room door, they saw Wanda packing her things.

“What are you doing?” Vanessa looked at Wanda, who appeared haggard.

Wanda had been Joanna’s Jackey. Now that Joanna was gone, she had no place there. Besides, she had become the department’s outcast. Although no one said anything to her face, Wanda knew they all branded her a lackey behind her back.

“Come on, time for rounds,” Lainey announced, tapping the door to get everyone’s attention.

“Coming!”

Everyone grabbed their patient files and followed Lainey to do the rounds.

“Let’s check on the patient admitted last night,” Lainey said as she opened the door to Room 2999.

Millie, following behind, saw the name on the chart. It was Sonny Alpers.

She looked over at the bed. The man lay there with his eyes closed, his face pallid.

Sonny? Wasn’t this the guy Eli had asked her about? He was the one transferred from the prison, who started with food poisoning and then developed heart problems, wasn’t he?

“Does this patient have a doctor in charge?” Lainey asked, glancing back.

Vanessa seemed eager to take on Sonny, but Millie spoke first. “I’ll handle him.”

Lainey glanced at her and replied, “Alright.”

“This might be a tricky case. Are you sure you can handle it?” Vanessa asked with concern.

Millie nodded. “No problem.”

“Okay, just let me know if you need any help,” Vanessa answered with a gentle smile.

Millie gestured an “okay” before taking another look at the patient. Sonny…

Suddenly, she thought he looked familiar. Had she seen him somewhere before?

Millie frowned and covered half of his face with her hand. It seemed like…

“Millie, let’s go,” Lainey called out suddenly. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

Millie turned and followed her, saying, “Coming.

Yet, she couldn’t resist looking back at Sonny again. He resembled the man behind Winston’s abduction.

Unfortunately, Millie had only seen his eyes. She had no idea what he looked like or what his name

was.

Later, she was injured and was unconscious for a long time. When Millie woke up, she heard that the mastermind had been apprehended, so she didn’t dwell on it.
