Chapter 63
Chapter 63
Scarlett glanced at the photo; he was simply standing in front of the bed, gazing at her, but it was no
big deal, so he paid it
no mind.
“It doesn’t matter; as long as Mr. Gatsby lends a hand, we’ll be alright.”
She believed that, given his ability, deleting a photo would be easy.
Tve already taken care of it. No one will spread it again.”
“That’s good to know.”
Scarlett nodded and, as she was about to turn to leave, Dev stopped her without cause.
“Miss Sales, allow me to take you out for a meal. I’d like to apologize for Yan’s rudeness.”
Scarlett shook her head and said. “No, I need to get to the company quickly.”
Dev hastily exclaimed. “I noticed you hadn’t woken up this morning, so I discreetly phoned Miss Napier
to request a day off for you
Scarlett was stunned for a moment. No wonder Kelly had sent her a message that morning, seeing that
she hadn’t gone to the company, Kelly hadn’t rushed her again. It turned out that Dey had helped her
request a leave.
She looked meaningfully at Dev, perplexed. Five years ago, he had warned her not to bother him
again, yet here he was. helping her. What did it mean?
Dev invited her several times, persisting even when it seemed she would not go to cat. His temper
remained as stubborn as ever, but his attitude had become worse.
Scarlett wanted to see what he intended to do, so she accepted and followed him downstairs
As they stepped out of the elevator, they were greeted by Sebastian.
He was cloaked in a black suit, his figure barely visible in the dim light.
His face, deep and dark, suddenly grew cold upon seeing the two of them.
Scarlett’s face paled upon meeting those cold, malicious eyes.
Upon seeing him, she was filled with panic and could not bring herself to look up.
She subconsciously let Dev’s tall frame shield her petite body.
Sebastian’s anger was palpable as his gaze grew colder and colder in response to her action.
Dev failed to recognize the distinction between the two of them, yet he still extended his hand and
greeted the other politely.
“Mr. Jackman.”
Sebastian cast a glance at his hand.
“I have a fear of germs.”
He had an arrogant and rude attitude.
Fortunately, Dev had always been well-mannered. He did not feel embarrassed. Instead, he pulled
back his hand and said with a grin, “No big deal.”
Sebastian didn’t respond, his gaze as cold as snow and ice as he looked at Scarlett, who was cowering
behind him.

Once named, Scarlett could no longer remain hidden.
She walked out from behind Dev and greeted him respectfully as if she had met a partner. “Nice to
meet you, Mr. Jackman
Sebastian slightly turned and coldly eyed her from head to toe.
“Miss Sales is highly competent.”
He pushed her away and, without a backward glance, strode into the elevator.
He seemed to have said hello to Dev merely to mock her.
He must have seen her and Dev departing from the hotel and thus misunderstood her.
Scarlett, having been misunderstood by him, would not explain further; their relationship had already
ended and it had nothing to do with whom she was with
“Miss Sales, Mr. Jackman appears to be unfriendly towards you. You and him…”
“Everyone in this circle is aware that I’m here to sell myself. People such as Mr. Jackman will likely
view me with disdain.”
Before Dey could ask the question, Scarlett coldly interrupted him.
He was not expecting Scarlett to be so candid, taking him aback a bit.
Yesterday, after the photos were circulated, several wealthy young masters from A Town sent a
message informing him that Scarlett belonged to James.
He had heard of James’ callous behavior toward women in the capital, and that all the women who
stayed by his side were there for financial gain.
Since Scarlett dared to follow James, it indicated that she was also in it for the money.
It appeared that the dean was not deceiving him; she genuinely desired to ascend the ladder.
No wonder, five years ago, upon realizing he had not been fooled, she vanished without a trace.
She likely found him hard to handle and didn’t want to expend any more energy on him, so she ceased
pestering him. He was taken aback by Scarlett’s admission, not having expected it.
It was unusual for a prostitute to be so honest.
