Scars Of A Broken Bond

Chapter 1586

Keilani wouldn’t tell Lance the truth. “I had told you they stole my watch in Linbourne. Two days ago, I ran into Sabrina’s friend at a mall. She made fun of me, and it made me so mad. Seeing them today, I just wanted to scare them a bit. But can you believe it? They wrecked my car and pinned me down to hit me!”

Lance frowned and asked, “Why would you want to scare them?”

At the mention of Linbourne, Lance immediately knew Sabrina’s friend referred to Bettie. Even though he hadn’t returned at that time, he’d been keeping tabs on Bettie’s Twitter. He’d regularly scroll through it and was aware that Bettie had gone to Linbourne with Sabrina.

Lance knew Bettie wouldn’t endure grievance without speaking for herself or ridicule others without cause. There must be something wrong. Moreover, he suspected Keilani had once again downplayed the harm she did to others while exaggerating what others did to her.

One tended to downplay the wrongdoings they had ever done. Keilani once ordered to break someone’s leg, but she claimed that person was only slightly injured.

Seeing Lance’s indifferent expression, Keilani couldn’t wrap her head around it. “Even if I scared them, they didn’t lose anything. They could smash my car and attack me because of this, couldn’t they? Why do you always defend them? Why?” Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Keilani did everything she could to lessen her blame, yet Lance offered no support. Damn it! How could he be this obsessed with Sabrina to the point of defending her like this?

“You claimed she made fun of you a few days ago. Since it upsets you so much, why not confront her then and there?” Lance shot Keilani a displeased look.

“Because…”

Lance cut Keilani off, “Because you’ve got nothing except our father and family to lean on. When someone wrongs you, you run to our parents, just like a little spoiled kid!”

“You…” Kedlani was on the brink of tears, filled with rage. Sabrina had slapped her, and now her own elder brother was scolding her. She felt more mistreated than ever before. “This is too much. I’m telling Royce!”

“Go on, then. Let’s see if he sides with you.” Lance waved his hand dismissively. He was sure Royce wouldn’t take her side.

Tyrone cherished Sabrina dearly. With Tyrone in the picture, no harm would come to Sabrina’s way. For the sake of Sabrina’s father, Tyrone had caused the Evans family significant losses. Despite being a decisive figure in the business world, Tyrone was captivated by Sabrina and would do anything for her.

Royce was wise enough not to confront Sabrina for the sake of Keilani who was at fault.

Alice stood by, silently listening to their exchange. She bit her lip, her expression growing grim. It appeared to her that Lance held Sabrina in higher regard than she had expected.

When Lance was finally brought back to the Wilson family, he was already eighteen.

Keilani, having been the only child until then, disliked Lance and often made life difficult for him.

Despite Keilani’s pranks and hostility, Lance never really paid her any attention. He excelled both in school and at the company, earning him the Wilsons’ favor.

Not surprisingly, Lance was usually flooded with praise. Those who didn’t know the Wilson family well would attribute Lance’s competence to family upbringing, from which Keilani benefited with some compliments. Some would even come to her and inquire if Lance was seeing someone.

Keilani gradually began to feel proud of having Lance as her elder brother and eventually warmed up to him.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson realized changing Keilani’s stubborn nature was a tall order. They worried about the siblings’ bond, fearing Lance might leave Keilani on her own after they were gone. They admitted Keilani was a spoiled kid with limited competence and a moody temper.

Thus, they frequently reminded Lance to look after Keilani and guided her if needed.

In Alice’s view, Lance truly was a protective brother to Keilani.

Even though he would reprimand Keilani for her wrongdoings, he never left her to face the consequences alone.
