Chapter 122 Something Amiss

Jack's chest wasn't as strong as a mature man's. He seemed kind of weak.

Thinking of Jacob's possessiveness, Avery left Jack's arms and kept a distance from him as soon as

she steadied herself.

"Thanks! It's quite cold out here. Let's get inside."

Avery walked into the restaurant and noticed that Jacob was nowhere to be seen.

As soon as she took a seat, Jack intended to walk away to get some food for her. She agreed because

she saw Andrew walk in.

Andrew, holding a drink, sat across from her in a gentlemanly manner. It looked like they were just

shooting the breeze like classmates did.

Avery lowered her voice and asked, "Andrew, did you find anything?"

"Yeah, I got a message before we got on this ship, but I didn't have time to tell you earlier. It's just like

what we thought. Someone changed your medical report. Even though he kept his head down the

whole time, my people managed to snap a few pictures. Take a look and see if you know this dude."

Andrew sent Avery the cropped and zoomed-in photos.

They were still kind of blurry, but Avery could make out the general outline.

"Hold up, this dude...." Avery whispered. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

"Do you know him?" Andrew asked.

It was a strange face, and Avery didn't know him.

But she had a good memory. She had seen this guy somewhere previously.

"Where did I see him before?" wondered Avery.

"What's wrong? Did you remember something?" Andrew whispered.

Something suddenly occurred to Avery, and she thought, "Luminary Asylum!"

On the day Avery went to visit Jane, a few security guards came out of nowhere and restrained Avery

when Jane freaked out. The dude who had injected Jane with some sedative was just the guy in the

pictures.

"I...." Avery tried to speak but chickened out, scared of someone overhearing.

"Andrew, you've done me a really big favor this time. Can you help me check again? I suspect

someone's targeting me."

If she made any kind of move, it would only alert the enemy. But no one would suspect Andrew.

Andrew was smart and got it straight away.

He didn't stay for too long and kept a smile on his face. "Okay, Avery. Keep in touch!"

"Sure thing, Andrew," responded Avery.

After saying bye to Andrew, Avery started thinking of Jane's death. It seemed like it wasn't an accident.

Someone was scared Jane would spill something because of Avery's visit, so they made it look like

Jane had killed herself.

And Dr. Wood's eyes were really odd when he looked at Avery.

Since Avery's father's case was pretty much set in stone, why was it still being kept under wraps?

Avery started thinking about all the sh*t that happened in the past month. It hit her that nothing was just

happening by chance. Instead, all of it was planned out.

The person behind all this knew about her and Jacob, even about her stomach cancer.

Avery thought, "Divorce, the tombstone, Martin, Jane, and the changed reports... So, there must be

something wrong with Martin's case."

Just the thought of it sent a chill down Avery's spine. Maybe that person had been setting s*it up for the

past two years.

When Avery thought of Jane's innocent face and the news saying Jane had offed herself, Avery's heart

tightened up.

Maybe that girl died because of Avery.

Avery clenched her phone tight, looking all determined.

For Martin, for Jane, and for herself, Avery was going to find out the truth, no matter what.

Avery sent Andrew all the information she had on Jane, Dr. Wood, and Luminary Asylum and wanted

Andrew to dig around secretly.

Just then, Avery got a new message on her phone from Jack, the dude she had just added. She hadn't

even bothered to make a note for him.

Jack's profile picture was the white cat Whiskers, although he had kept several cats.

Avery checked the message. "Avery, I feel so unwell."
