Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 480

"Grandpa, I've made up my mind-I want to divorce Greta," Cameron said, his voice a mix of bottled-up sadness and firm resolve.

Greta went completely pale, her eyes wide with shock. She never imagined Cameron would ever consider leaving her.

Her dream of being Mrs. Dawson had barely begun, and now it seemed like it was all about to shatter.

She pressed her ear against the door, eavesdropping on the conversation between Cameron and his grandfather.

Right now, all her hopes rested on the old man, praying he'd take her side. She was convinced she'd won him over in the past, enough so that he'd even given her a lavish gift when she joined the Dawson family. Sure enough, the grandfather immediately shot down Cameron's request: "Absolutely not."

Greta let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, feeling a wave of relief.

But Cameron was done with his marriage to Greta; his resolve to divorce was rock-solid. "Grandpa, my marriage with Greta is just for show."

"What were you thinking back then?" Will snapped, frustration evident in his voice. "No matter her faults, she was the one you chose."

Cameron's voice wavered, thick with tears: "I regret it, Grandpa. I really do."

After a long pause, Will sighed deeply.

"Weren't you head over heels for her once? I remember how you first described her to me. You said she might not be a beauty queen, came from a humble background, and wasn't the healthiest. But her grit, her optimism, her lively spirit drew you in. You promised you'd love her forever, through thick and thin."

Cameron seemed lost in his own thoughts. "Yeah, I believed we'd be together forever. That belief kept me from leaving her, even when she messed up."

"So, what's changed? Why do you

want out now?" Will was a man with a wealth of experience and had already guessed most of it. "Is it because she's not just plain and frail, but also vain, overbearing, and controlling?"

"Is it because she loves your money more than she loves you?"

"Is it because, as your wife, she only adds to your stress and never gives you any emotional support?"

"Is it because after a long day, she can't even whip up a simple bowl of chicken soup?"noveldrama

Cameron buried his face in his hands, overwhelmed.

"No, Grandpa. It's none of those things. If those were her only issues, I'd still be willing to put up with them."

Will was taken aback. "Then what on earth did she do to drive you to this?"

Cameron replied, "What if I told you she's actually a scheming and dangerous woman, a gold-digger, unfaithful and disrespectful? Would you believe me?"

Will was stunned. "Do you have any proof?"

Cameron said, "Grandpa, I have no evidence. But I'm the last person who'd want to see her go bad; it would just show how poor my judgment was."

Will said, "I believe you. I know how much you sacrificed for Greta, giving up wealth and status."

Then, shifting to a more

commanding tone, Will continued,

"But Cameron, the Dawson family is already teetering on the edge. Your influence isn't what it used to be You divorced Nellie to marry Greta, throwing your future away. Do you understand what might happen if you divorce her now?"
