Reborn As The 90
At this moment on set, Eleanor glanced at Gloria, who had appeared out of nowhere and frowned. Gloria seemed to be everywhere.
Eleanor wondered, 'Why is she here? What does she want?
1. a.
Eleanor couldn't tell if it was just her imagination, but it seemed as though the moment Gloria saw her, that arrogant look she used to flaunt had crept back into her eyes.
Ever since Andrew and Felix had softened their stance toward Eleanor, Gloria had avoided direct confrontations with Eleanor. But now, with this sudden burst of confidence, Eleanor wondered if Gloria was plotting something again.
Gloria, wearing a composed smile, strutted gracefully over to Eleanor like a peacock showing off its feathers. "Eleanor, long time no see."
Eleanor raised an eyebrow. She commented inwardly, 'Long time no see? Who did I bump into last night, then? A ghost?' She couldn't be bothered with Gloria and continued flipping through her script, waiting for the costume change and photo shoot. Gloria gritted her teeth viciously. She cursed inwardly. 'This shameless woman! How dare she ignore me? Just wait. Soon, you'll have something to cry about.'
Taking a deep breath to suppress her rising anger, Gloria spoke in a sickly, sweet voice. "Eleanor, why are you ignoring me? I really do want to be friends with you. Have I done something to upset you?"
Gloria's tone almost made Eleanor gag. Eleanor wondered, 'How could anyone say something that disgusting?"
Though Gloria's voice wasn't loud, her pitiful act still managed to draw attention from those nearby. Not wanting to come across as arrogant, Eleanor glanced at Gloria and asked, "What do you want?" Gloria flashed a sweet smile, blinking innocently. "Oh my, Eleanor, you're finally willing to talk to me. I thought you didn't like me."
Eleanor thought, 'Interesting.
Gloria said, "Eleanor, I'm playing the fourth female lead, your younger sister, in the show. Could we go over the lines together? I've never acted before, and I'd love some pointers from you."
Eleanor narrowed her eyes, sizing Gloria up. She thought, 'So, she had auditioned as well? Wait a minute. Her role was the last to be confirmed, but all the auditions should have been over by then. Wasn't she still in school at that time? When could she have found the time to audition?'
At this moment, Eleanor's phone lit up with messages from Andrew: [Ellie, Gloria's joined your production. Grandpa pulled some strings, and I couldn't refuse directly. Just be careful while you're on set. Let me know if she causes any trouble, and I'll deal with it.] [Don't worry. I already warned Gloria before she left. She won't reveal your identity. Take care of yourself, and I'll visit the set once I finish work.]
After reading that, Eleanor understood everything. She thought, 'No wonder Gloria had regained her fighting spirit. She'd found an even bigger backer. Tsk, tsk. The perks of being an author's favorite. She always finds a way to land on her feet. Eleanor quickly replied to Andrew, telling him not to worry, before putting her phone away. She looked up at Gloria, who still pretended to be all delicate. She smirked and thought, 'Thank goodness Andrew had the foresight to warn me. It saves me the trouble of having to stay on high alert."
"Aren't we going over lines? Where's your script?" Eleanor asked coolly.
Gloria's expression froze. "Uh..." She thought, 'Oops. I'd forgotten entirely that I'd been forced into this role. The director hadn't even given me a script yet.
Eleanor smiled lightly, her eyes brimming with understanding. "How are we supposed to go over lines without a script? Do you plan on imagining them?"
"Pfft-" Grace, who stood beside Eleanor, couldn't hold back and burst into laughter, She never expected Eleanor, who seemed so warm and kind, to have such a sharp tongue when dealing with someone like Gloria.
Grace had been specially chosen as Eleanor's assistant by Andrew and was well aware of Gloria's background. When Gloria approached, looking to stir up trouble, Grace thought about taking notes and reporting back to Andrew. It turned out there was no need as Eleanor could handle it all on her own.
Hearing Grace laugh, Gloria shot her a vicious glare as if she wanted to skin her alive. She thought, 'Like master, like dog.. Her master had no manners, and she had no discipline either.
Grace wasn't intimidated by Gloria's status. She knew exactly who Gloria was, but that didn't bother her in the least. When Gloria glared at her, Grace immediately lifted her chin and glared right back.
Andrew had made it clear that Grace was Eleanor's assistant, not anyone else's. Gloria might be a foster daughter in the Vanderbilt family, but even if she were a real daughter, Grace wouldn't have been afraid.
Seeing Grace dare to return her glare, Gloria almost choked on her own fury.
But Gloria knew better than to lose her temper in front of so many people. So, she stomped, swallowing her rage, and forced a smile.
She said, "Oh, silly me. The director mentioned he'd give me the script later, and I totally forgot. I was just so excited to see you that I couldn't wait to come over and say hello. Eleanor, would you have time to chat with me for a bit?"
Grace rolled her eyes. If she weren't worried about causing trouble for Eleanor, she would have slapped Gloria right then and there.
Eleanor, however, was used to Gloria's antics and remained unfazed. She looked at Gloria calmly. "What do you want to talk about?" Gloria asked innocently, "Eleanor, you attended Ridgewood High School for a while, right?"
Eleanor regarded Gloria blankly, unsure of where this sudden question came from.
When the original owner was still with the Anderson family, she had indeed attended Ridgewood High School. Later, after being taken in by the Vanderbilt family, she got into Aloria High School, where Gloria even spread rumors about her cheating by leaking her transcript from Ridgewood High School.
Eleanor thought, 'Gloria knew all this very well, so why bring it up now? It couldn't be anything good.
When Eleanor didn't respond, Gloria raised her voice slightly. "Eleanor, is that a hard question to answer?"Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Eleanor looked at Gloria coldly. "Not at all. I did attend Ridgewood High School."
"Oh, how coincidental." Gloria clapped her hands, her face lighting up. "That confirms it. Zane just mentioned that your name is the same as that of one of his junior classmates who used to pursue him. He thought he'd made a mistake, but now it seems he was right. It's you, Eleanor." Even though Eleanor was brilliant, her mind was spinning. 'Zane? Who is he? I pursue him?"
Seeing Eleanor's silence, Gloria seized the moment to stir the pot. "Oh dear, Eleanor, you didn't forget about Zane, did you? He's filming with us in the same production; so you two will definitely run into each other. Oh, there he is. Let's go say hi to
