Chapter 152: It Is Good Enough to Be Able to Talk
Chapter 152: It Is Good Enough to Be Able to Talk
“I’ll have to trouble you to fetch me to western district.” This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
Hayden came out of the natatorium and got in the car, “Noah and Stella have been picked up by the butler of the Beckham family. I’ve come slightly too late.”
Benjamin’s face abruptly darkened slightly, “Western district?”
“Is it too far?” Hayden’s action of pulling the seat belt stopped for a moment, “I think it’s better that I take a cab. If you have something to do, you can leave first.”
“Nothing.” Benjamin’s expression returned to normal and he said while smiling, “What matter will I have to do, I have no relatives or friends. I’ll bring you there.”
His naïve and innocent eyes were displayed in the rear-view mirror and whoever saw it would not doubt what he said.
“Then I’ll have to trouble you again.” Hayden also smiled, “I should be blamed for coming too late. Joseph’s grandpa worries about the two children so he let the butler come early every day. Perhaps it’s because the butler didn’t see me so he picked up the two children.”
When the car arrived at western district, night already fell. When the security guard at the entrance of the Beckham family saw Hayden, he hurriedly stretched his head out of the security room and greeted the person who could be seen through the car window of the passenger seat.
“Young master, Ms. Downey, wait for a moment. This door has a little malfunction. It has to be opened manually.”
“Young master?”
Hayden froze for a moment and said with a smile, “You’ve seen wrongly. This isn’t your young master.”
The security guard was stunned. He stretched his neck and gazed at the place inside the car for a moment. He patted his head and giggled.
“My bad, I’ve seen wrongly. I just thought that it was the young master. I was wondering that isn’t the young master going on a business trip? They look slightly similar at first glance, he is…”
“My friend.”
Hayden simply replied and did not explain more.
After the security guard opened the door, Benjamin drove into the mansion of the Beckham family. After the car moved through a long driveway for about five to six minutes, it only then stopped at the main entrance of the mansion.
“I think I don’t need to go in.”
“Okay. I’ll come out soon after I pick up Stella and Noah.”
After Hayden entered the mansion, Benjamin looked at the scene outside the windshield. It was just nice that he could see the steps at the entrance of the mansion of the Beckham family. One step was followed by another step and they belonged to the threshold that a big mansion with big courtyards would have. His expression became complicated for a moment.
A sharp ringing sound rang in the car. Benjamin glanced at the incoming number and pressed the button to answer it.
“Mom.”
“…”
Not long after, a series of ‘knock’ sounds sounded on the car window. The moment Benjamin looked up, he saw a young girl lying on the car window. Her big pair of watery eyes were moving.
He opened the car window, “You are?”
“Are you Benjamin?”
The girl did not answer his question but asked him instead.
Benjamin froze for a while. He became alert.
“You know me?”
The girl shook her head and asked persistently, “Are you Benjamin?”
Seeing that she was a little goofy, Benjamin nodded.
“Then follow me.”
The girl blinked, “My dad let me come and invite you for a dinner.”
“Your dad?”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
Benjamin did not understand. He got out of the car and followed this girl towards the inner part of the courtyard. Behind her, he sized up her. This little girl was at most twelve or thirteen years old. Her body was so thin and small and she was a little uncouth. But, her pair of eyes were black and shiny.
“Who is your dad?”
“Who are you?” The little girl asked again, “What is your relationship with Hayden?”
“Me?” Benjamin frowned, “Sort of her younger brother.”
“Oh, then you have to call me aunt.”
“What?”
Benjamin’s face darkened. What kind of joke was this?
She was indeed making fun of him. Where did this crazy girl come from?
“Hey, where are you going?” When the girl saw him turn his head and leave, she chased after him and pulled his sleeve, “I’ve told you it’s time to eat. It isn’t good to make others wait for you.”
“You’re crazy, right?” Benjamin rolled his eyes at her and tried to shake off her hand, “What aunt, whose naughty child are you, why do you come out to make trouble. I really regret believing you just now.”
“Naughty child?”
The girl was not happy. She straightened her back, “Who is a naughty child, I’m the daughter of this family, you don’t believe?”
She looked around and waved at the maid who was tidying up the garden in the distance, “Aurora, come here for a moment.”
The maid hurriedly walked over and wiped her hands using the apron, saying respectfully.
“What’s wrong, Miss Beckham?”
“Do you hear that?” The girl glared at Benjamin, “I’ve told you but you still don’t believe me. Hurriedly go to have the meal.”
“Harrison is already more than seventy years old, where did he get such a daughter like you? Who are you fooling?” Benjamin still frowned with a face of disbelief.
“One can’t have a daughter in his seventies? Why?”
“Because…” With a poker face, Benjamin did not utter a word for a long time.
If others asked this question, it was certain that they were asking nonsense but the girl in front of him was just twelve or thirteen years old, which was an age when one did not know anything. Even if he explained to her, how was it possible that she would understand?
“Oh, let’s go there hurriedly, I’m hungry.”
The girl was also lazy to listen to him. She grabbed his waist and ran towards the inner part of the courtyard. The maid behind them quickly shouted, “Miss Beckham, run slowly, don’t fall.”
When they reached the dining room, the girl immediately let go of Benjamin’s hand and darted towards the dining table, exclaiming.
“Soufflé…”
Benjamin stood at the entrance of the dining room and could not help but frown as he stared at Harrison in a daze.
“Benjamin.” Hayden’s voice let him regain his presence of mind.
“It’s too late at this time. Grandpa asks us to stay here to have dinner before leaving. You won’t mind, right?”
Benjamin settled down and his voice was a little hoarse.
“I don’t mind.”
“Then have a seat.” Hayden smiled while pulling out the chair beside her and introduced him to Harrison, “Grandpa, this is the person I’ve told you. He is Benjamin.”
Harrison nodded, “I’ve heard Noah say before. He looked quite spirited. Have a seat and eat together.”
Both Noah and Stella who were sitting at the opposite side of the table ate the meal in front of them obediently. Stella talked with Harrison from time to time and she could always make Harrison laughed.
Noah could not speak so he just followed and smiled. Seeing this, Hayden felt heartbroken and she could not help but ask, “Grandpa, was Noah unable to speak because he had a high fever in the past?”
When this matter was mentioned, the smile on Harrison’s face gradually disappeared. His expression became serious, “Yeah, he had a high fever. Since he had a high fever that time, he refused to speak and we could not find out other reasons.”
“What about the nanny at that time?” The nannies who took care of Noah were all dismissed? Is there any contact information of them?”
Hearing this, Harrison frowned slightly, “Why do you suddenly ask this?”
Hayden did not know how to answer for a while.
“It’s because Noah did speak before so high fever shouldn’t be the reason that causes him not to be able to speak. Benjamin’s voice sounded out of the blue, “He can speak but it’s just that he doesn’t want to speak for some reason.”
“What?” Harrison’s eyes widened, “Noah has spoken? When?”
Hayden did not expect that Benjamin would mention this matter. After being startled for a while, she explained.
“It occurs just two times. One is when he’s in front of Joseph while another time is when he’s in front of me. He only calls mommy both times but they are clearly audible.”
Harrison was overjoyed. Looking at the dumbfounded Noah on the side, tears instantly welled up in his eyes.
“It is good enough to be able to talk, do it slowly; it’s okay. You want the nanny’s contact information is it? I’ll let Mark handle this matter.”
