Chapter 425
Chapter 425
Finally, her wish was about to come true. Clara’s heart felt like it was enveloped in honey, each throb sending out ripples of sweetness.
Ian could no longer control his emotions. He dipped his head to capture the tender, sweet lips before him. His hand gently wove through her hair, cradling the back of her head, as he deepened the kiss with each passing moment.
The couple, having weathered many storms and separations, had come back together at last. Their excitement was palpable and impossible to conceal.
It was only after an eternity that Ian could bring himself to pull away. He peppered Clara’s face with featherlight kisses, his voice husky with desire. “Honey, last night was so hectic. We missed our wedding night. Tonight, I’m going to make it up to you.”
Clara’s cheeks flushed as she stared at him. “Isn’t the wedding night supposed to be the day of the ceremony?”
“Getting our marriage license counts too. By the time we have the ceremony, it’ll be safer for you, and I can make love with you properly.”
He emphasized a particular phrase, making Clara’s cheeks burn even hotter. She pushed him away. Her eyes reddened with mock anger. “You’re being so cheeky. I could accuse you of harassment.”
“Flirting with my own wife is just marital fun, not harassment. Attorney Clara, have you forgotten all the laws and regulations after a few days off?”
Their playful banter was interrupted by a low chuckle from behind. Clara instantly pushed Ian away and turned to see Greta standing in the doorway, arms crossed, a mischievous grin on her face.
Greta clicked her tongue in amusement. “Tsk, tsk, tsk, can’t you two get a room for your public displays of affection? It’s broad daylight, you know.”
Ian wrapped Clara back into his embrace, unfazed. “It’s your own fault for being single. You can’t blame us.”
“Look at you, all smug. Is getting hitched really something to grin about until your smile reach your ears?”
“Of course, it is. The joy between us is something you, perpetually single, would never understand.”
“Alright, alright, I know my favorite brother is the happiest man in the world right now. No one can top you. I’m here to remind you that if you don’t go try on the wedding dress soon, the designer is going to close shop.”
Ian smiled and ruffled Clara’s hair, his gaze affectionate. “Mrs. Hayes, shall we go try on your wedding dress?” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
They drove to the bridal shop where the designer greeted them personally. “Mr. Hayes, Mrs. Hayes, the wedding dress is ready. I’ll have someone take her to try it on.”
Ian nodded. “Please be careful with my wife. She’s pregnant.”
“Of course, we will take good care of Mrs. Hayes.”
Ian was eager to see Clara in her wedding dress, imagining how stunning she would look. He whispered into her blushing face, “Mrs. Hayes, don’t be too breathtaking, or I might lose control.”
With a huff and a blush, Clara turned and entered the fitting room.
As the minutes ticked by, Ian’s gaze never left the fitting room door. His anticipation was building. He couldn’t quite picture it, but he was sure it would be an ethereal beauty.
Suddenly, his phone rang. Seeing Edwin’s number, he answered urgently.
“Ian, where’s Clara?” Edwin’s voice was anxious.
Ian, sensing something amiss, replied quickly, “Trying on her wedding dress. What’s wrong?”
“Heidi attempted suicide in jail and was abducted on the way to the hospital. I’m worried she’ll go after Clara.”
Chills ran down Ian’s spine. He stared at the fitting room door for a few seconds, then bolted toward it. When he kicked the door open, the sight that greeted him left him frozen in shock.
