Chapter 398
Chapter 398
Brodie didn’t hesitate for a second when he heard the proposition.
“No way! Don’t you think that’s totally out of line? You have a wife and kids, man. Going through with this would be like... like setting my mom up as the ‘other woman.’ She’s been through enough already because of that stuff. No, I’d rather she stayed the way she is now than let you swoop in and play the hero.”
Teo’s gaze was steadfast as he addressed the concerns. “Look, my marriage to Sierra has been over for ages. We’ve been living apart for over two decades. That’s more than enough grounds for a divorce. I’ve just been dragging my feet because she once saved my mom’s life.”
His eyes then shifted to Clara. “Clara, I want to divorce Sierra. I need you to help me win this case.”
Clara was clearly torn. “Teo, winning the case might not be that tough, considering Sierra has really done a number on the Hayes family’s reputation. But are you sure this is the best thing for Katherine?”
“I’ll pursue Katherine once the divorce is final. No matter what happens, as long as it helps with her recovery, that’s what matters to me. I just want her to get her memory back.”
He was convinced that somewhere in Katherine’s lost memories, there were moments they shared, and he was eager to uncover them. He wanted to know how she had figured in his past and why she remembered it all so vividly when he hadn’t the slightest recollection.
Ian pulled Clara to his side, cutting into the conversation with no room for argument. “Dad, if you want a divorce, I’ll find you another lawyer. Anders is a solid choice. Clara’s pregnant and shouldn’t be in court. Plus, Sierra has it out for her, and I’m worried she might pull something drastic if they face off.”
That reminded Teo that Sierra had always aimed to unsettle Clara with her origins. He immediately chuckled, dismissing his earlier request. “Look at me, getting forgetful in my old age. Let me get in touch with Anders. Once I’ve got my own affairs sorted, I’ll talk to Katherine. But let’s keep this under wraps for now, yeah?”
After saying that, he grabbed his phone and stepped out, already dialing as he went. Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Ian watched his father, who was in a mix of haste and barely concealed joy, and couldn’t help but shake his head.
“It’s been years since I’ve seen him like this. His marriage to Sierra’s like a stagnant pond, and he’s been stuck, feeling too guilty to leave. If he and Katherine could make it work, I’ve got no objections.”
Brodie’s voice was a cold, low rumble of opposition. “I object! Until we get to the bottom of all this, I’m not letting my mom get anywhere near him.”
After saying that, Brodie turned and walked into the bedroom, where he found Katherine waking up. He quickly made up an excuse and whisked her away.
The next day, Anders walked into Sierra’s hospital room with divorce papers in hand. Sierra didn’t even glance at the document before tearing it to shreds.
She glared at Anders with venom in her eyes. “Teo thinks he can just divorce me and run off with that... that woman? He’ll never get away with it in this lifetime!”
Anders’ voice was calm, but his presence was commanding. “Mrs. Sierra, your marriage to Mr. Teo has been over in all but name for years. Even if you refuse to sign, the court will grant the divorce based on your long separation and the recent incident where your son was seriously injured. It
would be wise to sign now and secure your settlement. If it goes to court, you might end up with a lot less. Please consider it.”
Sierra shook her head frantically. “I will never divorce. Leonora’s position is mine forever. I won’t let her come back and mess things up. Now get out; I don’t want to see you!”
She was like a madwoman as she chased Anders out and slammed the door behind him. There was a sinister glint in her eyes.
That evening, a young nurse came in to change her bandages. As she turned to leave, something hit her head, and she collapsed to the floor, unconscious.
Sierra quickly dragged the nurse onto the bed, stripped off her uniform, and slipped into it herself, ready to make her escape.
