Chapter 389
Chapter 389
Dexter thumped his chest with a smug grin. "Ever heard of Green Shadow Media? The biggest media conglomerate in the country? I'm their go-to director. I can make a nobody a star overnight. And you—what can you possibly offer her? Got any of these connections? A pretty face ain't worth a dime if you don't have the clout like I do."
Chase chuckled dismissively, "Wow, that's quite the hot air you're blowing. I'm practically trembling."
"If you know what's good for you, you'll leave her with me, and I won't make a fuss. Otherwise, don't blame me for not playing nice."
Raising an eyebrow, Chase asked, "And if I refuse?"
"That'll be on your head!" Dexter signaled to his bodyguard with a nod, who immediately charged at Chase.
But before he could get close, Chase delivered a swift kick to the bodyguard’s groin. The man doubled over, clutching himself and howling in pain.
Dexter, teeth gritted in anger, snarled, "You just wait. I'll make you pay today!"
Whipping out his phone, he dialed a number. "Mr. Lee, there's a ruckus at the event. Need your backup."
Mr. Lee responded with authority, "Hang tight. I'll see who dares mess with our golden goose."
As Dexter smugly raised an eyebrow, Mr. Lee and his entourage approached, cursing under their breaths. "Who's got the gall to mess with Dexter? They surely want to end their career, don't they? I'll see to it they're ruined."
But as Mr. Lee strutted forward, a nonchalant voice called out, "Mr. Lee, looking fierce."
Hearing the voice, Mr. Lee's hair stood on end. He turned toward the source of the sound, and upon recognizing the face, he immediately bent over in apology. "Sorry, Mr. Chase, I had no idea you were here. My apologies for the offense."
Dexter was clueless and scoffed, "That's just the guy behind her. He's nothing but a bluff. Don't fall for it."
Mr. Lee slapped Dexter hard across the face. "Shut it! Do you know who he is? He's the heir to Green Shadow Media, Mr. Chase."
Hearing this, Dexter collapsed to his knees, groveling, "I'm sorry, Mr. Chase. I had no clue. My mistake. I shouldn't have set my sights on your lady. Rest assured, I'll make sure Ms. Sasha's name lights up the night sky." All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
Chase leaned down, his icy gaze fixed on Dexter, "You think after touching what's mine, you have a future?"
Dexter was terrified and slapped himself repeatedly. Being blacklisted by Green Shadow Media meant an end to his directing days. "Mr. Chase, I 'm sorry. Please, have mercy on me."
Chase snorted in amusement, "The words 'mercy' and 'forgiveness' don't exist in my vocabulary. I always get my due."
Chase stood upright, his voice frosty as he ordered, "This man has abused his power and violated the industry's standards. Spread the word—blacklist him across all networks!"
Mr. Lee saluted, "Right away, Mr. Chase."
As he was about to leave with his men, Chase added, "You have been complicit in his schemes and silent to his faults. Your annual bonus will be deducted."
Though Mr. Lee was unwilling, he dared not protest. He knew too well that although Mr. Chase wasn't a business mogul, his tactics were ruthless and his commands irrefutable.
With everyone gone, Chase beckoned Sasha over with a wave. "Come here."
Sasha sauntered over, biting her red lip as she gazed at him. Before she could utter a thankful peep, her lips were captured in a sudden, passionate kiss.
