Chapter 921 Julien's Solemn Speech
Chapter 921 Julien's Solemn Speech
Sydney patted the man on the back. "Well, get up. I have a phone call."
Hearing her urge him, Julien pursed his lips and got up unwillingly.
Sydney put her hand on the sofa and sat up. Ignoring her slightly matted hair, she took her phone out of her coat pocket.
At the sight of the caller ID, she immediately said, "It's Aunt. I guess she'll ask when we arrive."
After that, she answered the call and put the phone to her ear. "Auntie."
Sitting next to her, Julien was untangling her matted hair gently.
At the other end of the line, Mrs. Chase, sitting with a phone on the sofa in the living room, asked with a gentle, kind smile, "Syd, it's already 7:30. When will you be coming over?"
Hearing that, Sydney immediately glanced at her watch and answered, "Sorry, Auntie, we've delayed too long. We're leaving right now. We'll be there at about eight."
This place was not far away from the villa of the Chase family. It would take 40 minutes or so to drive there.
Hearing Sydney's reply, Mrs. Chase nodded and said, "Okay. I'll ask the kitchen to prepare the food. We'll be waiting for you!"
"Okay," Sydney answered with a smile.
After she hung up, she put down the phone and pulled Julien up. "Well, Aunt asked about us. Hurry up!"
As she spoke, she picked up the gift boxes and bags on the sofa opposite.
Julien stepped forward and took away most of the gift boxes and bags from her. "Let me carry them. You just carry the two."
He took all but two gift bags from her.
The two bags were the lightest.
He took away the heaviest, leaving her the lightest.
Knowing his intention, Sydney felt her heart warm but took back two boxes from his hands. "I know you don't want me to carry so many, but your arm hasn't fully recovered yet. If you carry so many things alone, I won't bear to see it! So let's carry these things together. If your arm has fully recovered, I won't care so much about you or try to take anything from you. Let's go."
She gave a smile and walked toward the office door.
Julien looked at her back and then at his left arm. His heart turned so soft as if it would melt.
But Sydney had opened the door and walked out.
When she was outside, she didn't see Julien follow her out. Instead, he was standing there in a daze. She rolled her eyes and shouted to him, "What are you doing, Julien? Why stand there like a statue? Let's go!"
Hearing her call him, Julien had glitter in his eyes, coming back to earth. Then he shouted with a smile, "I'm coming."
With long legs, he walked quickly over.
The two of them rode the elevator and came down to the first floor of Skylight Corporation.
Sydney's car was in the parking space outside the hall, not in the underground parking lot.
Sydney and Julien walked toward the entrance one after the other. On the way, some of the employees, who were leaving the office after working overtime, all greeted them.
Some of the employees had a strange look in their eyes while greeting them.
Sydney thought, "I'm so familiar with it!
'This look is the same as that of the assistant secretaries I met outside my office.
'Although I covered my face and couldn't see the two's expressions, I could sense the look in their eyes!
'It is definitely the look of excitement when they are curious about the intimate stories of a couple.
'Now these people are having a look of excitement in their eyes. Obviously, so many people have learned about the incident that Julien carried me into my office.
'How could they have learned about it? No doubt, the assistant secretaries have spread it!
'Humph, let's wait and see! They'll have a lot of work to do tomorrow!'
Facing the excited smiles of these employees, Sydney felt her blood freezing, so embarrassed. She couldn't help but walk quickly. In the end, she overtook Julien, being the first to come out of the building.
She walked so fast as if something was chasing after her. Seeing that, Julien couldn't help but arch his brows.
'What's going on?'
Julien was confused, but quickened his steps to chase after her.
When he caught up with her, Sydney was already putting the things in her hands into the car trunk.
He went over and stuffed the things in his hands into the trunk.
When he was stuffing them, he looked at her angry face and asked, "What's wrong? Why did you suddenly get angry?"
When she had put the things in place, she turned and glared at him. "Don't you feel ashamed to ask this question? If you had been willing to put me down from your shoulder, I wouldn't have been seen and lost face. Now it's great. Not only the assistant secretaries but also so many people in the company have learned about it. Just now, the way they looked at me made me so embarrassed! I'd spent a long time making myself an authority in the company, and they knew I, their chairwoman, was not easy to offend. But now, because of you, all my authority has gone."
After finishing that, she snorted at him and stopped talking to him. She turned and walked toward the passenger seat of the car.
Left behind, Julien touched the tip of his nose. Only when he had closed the trunk did he walk toward the driver's seat on the left.
He got in the car. As he adjusted the seat, he coaxed the angry woman next to him, "Well, calm down. In fact, I did that for your good."
"What?" Sydney was so confused. "For my good?"
"Yes!" Julien nodded.
Sydney gave him a sidelong glance, not believing him. Her eyes seemed to say, "Keep making up stories!"
Julien's eyes glistened, not looking at her eyes. He started the car and looked straight ahead as if he was driving and watching the road seriously. "I'm serious. I did that for your good. As a chairwoman, it's good to have authority. Yet, as time goes by, your employees will only fear you and alienate you, thinking your status is so high that they can't approach you. That is something bad. Over time, you won't even have a single one to talk to, and that's bad for controlling the company. After all, the employees won't work at ease for a boss they are so afraid of, simply because they are afraid this boss will target them someday."
When it came to this, he glanced at her through the rearview mirror. Then he said so seriously, "After that experience, your image in your employees' hearts has changed. They won't think you're as strict as they think. Although you're the chairwoman, you also have the emotions ordinary women have. You'll smile and frolic as they will. They'll immediately think that you're not too high to reach, but that you're approachable. When they have learned this side of you, they will think you're more human. Then, when they work, they will feel more at ease. After all, a boss like that will have the chance to be forgiven if she makes mistakes in the future. This alone will make your employees think so highly of you."
The man's solemn speech made Sydney's mouth twitch repeatedly.
'These words sound a little reasonable indeed.
'Let me think about them. Um, bah, they're not! He's resorting to sophistry! This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
'He says I can't be an arrogant, strict boss because my employees will be afraid. That's bad for controlling the company.
'But look at him!
'I guess no one is more arrogant or stricter than him in Port City! Who's not afraid of him in his Flint Corporation?
'But he still has a firm grip on the company, doesn't he?
'So a boss's personality and attitude toward their employees are not important at all. They don't matter. Julien just doesn't want to admit he has made me angry, so he is trying to justify his action with these reasons.'
