Chapter 3
Chapter 3
With his hot breath spraying on her ear, Celeste’s earlobe felt like it was on fire. But her lips were pale. The bruise on her abdomen was causing her great pain.
Thankfully, the light was off, so he couldn’t see it.-
She tilted her head up and kissed his Adam’s apple. Liam’s breathing became ragged, and he lowered his head to bite her neck. Then she calmly said, “I’m ovulating today. You should do your duty.”
Liam immediately stiffened, the desire in his eyes vanishing. His face turned dark, and he angrily said, “Is that all you think about?”
Celeste stared at the ceiling, the heat in her ears gradually fading, “Your mom keeps nagging me about it. It’s not something I can do alone. If you prefer, you can donate sperm and I’ll do IVF.”
Liam mocked her coldly, “So is mom pushing you, or are you afraid of losing your place and want a child as leverage?”
Her heart felt like it was being painfully squeezed, but Celeste’s expression didn’t change. She just smiled and said, “Yeah, I’m afraid you’ll leave me, so I want to have a connection with you.”
Liam buttoned up his shirt, gave her a disdainful look, and said, “Don’t waste your scheming on this. I’m not having a child.”
Celeste’s smile gradually stiffened. Just as he was about to leave, she called out, “Liam, do you not want a child at all, or do you just not want one with me?”
Liam paused, then coldly replied, “Does it make a difference?”
Celeste clenched her fist, “If there’s no difference, what’s the point of being married? Let’s get a divorce!”
“Suit yourself!” He slammed the door and left.
Celeste threw a pillow at the door, tears welling in her eyes.
The next day, Liam returned from his morning run and sat down at the dining table to check his emails.
Breakfast was already on the table, but he didn’t touch it.
The housekeeper asked, “Sir, would you like me to reheat it?”
Liam glanced at the time and frowned, “Tell her to come down and eat.”
The housekeeper went upstairs but soon hurried back down, “Sir, the lady is gone, and she left with this.”
“What?” He took it from her.
The words “divorce agreement” on the paper were glaring.
He read through it with a tight face, which gradually darkened. When he saw that the property, cars, and shares were to be divided equally, he laughed in anger, “She sure dares to dream!”
However, when he saw the reason for the divorce, he couldn’t laugh. The line read, “Due to the husband’s infertility and inability to have a normal marital life, the couple’s relationship has broken down.”
He angrily pulled out his phone and called Celeste.
“Hello.” Her cold voice came through the phone, infuriating him.
He gritted his teeth and asked, “What’s the meaning of this?”
“Literally,” Celeste said in a flat tone, “Sign it and let me know. We’ll go through the divorce process and have nothing to do with each other from now on.”
Liam asked angrily, “I mean, what’s the meaning of the reason for the divorce!”
Celeste was silent for a moment, “We have sex every three months, do you think that’s normal? Liam, there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you. You should see a urologist when you have time. Your mom keeps giving me all these supplements, but they’re useless. The problem is with you.”
“Celeste!” Liam yelled.
Celeste hung up the phone, not giving him a chance to vent his anger.
Liam’s face was extremely dark. The housekeeper was too scared to breathe. The lady had always been gentle and understanding. What had she said to make him so angry?
After saying that, Celeste felt a weight lifted off her chest. She suddenly realized how much pressure she’d been under in the Reed family for the past three years.
However, this relief only lasted until that night. The hotel manager knocked on her door and politely informed her that she could no longer stay in the suite.
The reason was that her hotel card belonged to the Reed Group, and now it had been locked. She had lost her right to continue enjoying the luxury suite.
“Of course, the main issue is that the card has been disabled. You can also pay for the room yourself. We’re more than happy to have you. Would you like to extend your stay?” The manager kindly
reminded her. They couldn’t turn away a guest. Celeste bit her lip, firmly believing that this was Liam’s revenge.
He hung up on her in the morning and locked her card in the evening. How petty! She wondered how she ever fell for someone like him.
“Extend the stay,” she said flatly.
“How long would you like to extend it for?” The manager asked.
“Let’s start with a month.” Celeste said.
“Alright, that will be 11,660 dollars. If you don’t stay the full 30 days, we’ll charge a 30% cancellation fee for the remaining days. The balance will be refunded when you check out. Please go downstairs to pay the room fee now. Thank you for your cooperation.” The manager said.
Celeste didn’t respond.
She brushed her hair back and smiled, her red lips forming a beautiful curve, “I’m sorry, can we go back to the first question?”
The manager was momentarily stunned by her smile..
When Celeste didn’t smile, she looked cold, but when she did, she was absolutely captivating.
The manager gathered himself and cautiously asked, “Would you like to extend your stay, ma’am?”
Her smile faded slightly, “Thank you, but no. I’ll check out.” Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Manager was speechless.
She could have moved to a cheaper suite, as she could afford to spend a few thousand a month. But on second thought, she decided against it.
Liam had locked her hotel card, and he had likely locked her credit card as well.
She had only claimed a 50-50 split of their assets to anger him. She hadn’t contributed a cent to the house or car before their marriage, so there was no way she would get a share. As for their assets after marriage, she didn’t know how much Liam had, but it certainly wouldn’t be split evenly.
If he was grateful for her hard work over the past three years, giving her a few million would be nice; but he might also leave her with nothing. She had to plan for her future.
After all, going from rich to poor was very difficult.
