Chapter 389 Queen of the Road

The morning rush hour was in full swing, and

the urban lane was clogged with traffic. But Janet was an unstoppable force behind the wheel of her

supercar.

She deftly weaved through the cars like a nimble fish in water. And every

potential collision that came her way was effortlessly averted.

The car’s afterimage blurred into a mess, but Janet’s grip on the steering wheel was rock–

solid. Not even a single strand of hair was out of place on her head.

In stark contrast, the other vehicles on the road were crawling along like snails, their drivers cursing an

d swearing at every traffic light. But Janet went through the most congested section in just three minute

s.

Nigel sat beside her, the window on his side half–

open. The cool breeze blew through his hair. He couldn’t contain his excitement as they dodged throug

h the traffic.

“Damn, Jill, you’re killing it out here!

“Overtake him! Yes!

“And that corner back there? So stable! You’re my goddess. You’re the queen of the road!”

Janet winced at the sound of Nigel’s voice but remained composed.

“Easy there. You really know how to flatter people.”

Nigel turned to her with a look of sincerity etched on his face.

“No, no! You got it all wrong! My words come straight from the heart. My sincerity rivals that of the sun

, the moon, and…”

“Stop,” Janet cut off Nigel’s prattle with a lazy wave of her hand. “If you’re not

here to talk business, I’ll leave you stranded, and you can find your way back.”

Nigel’s fiery enthusiasm was doused with cold water, leaving a helpless smirk

on his lips.

“Jill, you’re so ruthless. Did you also turn him down like this when you were

with Donahueiel?”

Janet sneered, “Him? He didn’t even have a chance to step foot in this car.”

Nigel’s dejection vanished instantly, and he felt physically and mentally at

ease as he leaned back in the passenger seat.

No matter how things were going for him, he was at least better off than

Donahueiel. Not everyone got to ride shotgun with Jill!

“In my opinion, you should steer clear of that scumbag. I mean, he’s the

owner of a company. It’s indecent to spend millions on young models at bar

parties.

“Good men rise and go to bed early. Bars? They’re for the fallen!”

Janet smirked as she caught a glimpse of the despicable man in the rearview

mirror.

“You’re no different from him. You’re cut from the same cloth.”

Nigel sat up straight, raised three fingers in a vow, and gazed into Janet’s eyes, brimming with sincerity.

“I’m not like him. I swear to God that since I fell in love with you, there has never been even a hint of scandal. Jill, I am utterly devoted to you!”

As Nigel started waxing poetic about love, Janet nonchGilberttly picked at her ear when her phone

rang.

She glanced at the caller ID at the red light.

Speaks of the devil. Donahueiel called when Janet was stewing in her frustration. She rejected it with a

poker face and switched her phone to silent

mode.

Donahueiel sat in his chair, listening to the beeps from the phone. He froze,

his hands still holding the documents on his desk.

The last time he saw Nigel, he had remained calm on the surface but had sent someone to keep an ey

e on him.

He knew that Nigel had his sights set on Janet and was planning to court her fervently. He couldn’t be c

areless and decided to do everything in his power to

win Janet back.

But now, as he stared at the hung–up phone, his chest felt heavy and his breathing became labored.

The file in his hand had been placed on his desk by Alfred early in the morning. Nigel and Janet’s name

s were on it side by side, which gave him a sense of

their intimacy.

Even though Nigel had approached Janet with ulterior motives, Donahueiel knew that the commercial v

alue of the land on the outskirts of the city was too

great for her to refuse.

Feeling anxious, he called her, even if it meant giving up some profit. He couldn’t let Nigel get ahead.

He called again and again, but no one was answering the phone.

Donahueiel’s face darkened, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the

phone tightly.

There was a knock on the door. Without waiting for him to respond, the visitor

opened the door and came in.

“Mr. Webster, about the proposal…”

“Did I invite you in here?”

Donahueiel sullenly raised her eyes and looked daggers at his subordinate.

The subordinate’s chubby face paled instantly, and beads of sweat trickled

down his cheeks.

Despite the urgency of the matter at hand, the sullen face of his boss signaled

that the timing was perilous.

The man apologized profusely, bowing and scraping before making a hasty

exit.

Donahueiel stared at the document in his hand, deep in thought. It seemed that he needed to find anot

her way to handle this matter.

Meanwhile, Janet drove her supercar into the underground parking lot of the Longfellow Group, with Ni

gel bombarding her with questions.

“Who called you? Was it Donahueiel?”

Nigel scoffed, “Does he have the nerve to call? If I were him, with such a scandalous affair, I wouldn’t

dare show my face in public

“Your tongue is too loose. If you’re not here to talk business, maybe I should cut it off so you won’t ha

ve to speak again.”

Janet delivered the most vicious of threats in her elegant voice.

Nigel knew that she was just joking, but he quickly changed the subject. He opened the file folder in his

hand and turned to a page with a detailed plan

printed on it, which he handed to Janet.

“After careful consideration, I believe that even without our friendship, my family is the most qualified to

collaborate with the Longfellow Group.” Nigel

exuded confidence.

Janet yawned lazily. “Our relationship doesn’t hold much weight for me.

Despite being put off by Janet’s response, Nigel remained undaunted.

“My family has a complete automobile industry chain, and we rank among the top five suppliers in term

s of the number of cars exported to major markets every year. We are

fully capable of producing cars for competitions at all

levels.

“And as a top hacker, I can design a cloud data storage terminal, classify and collect data, and perform

cluster processing.

“While protecting the privacy of club members, we can recommend personalized matches and team–

building activities. It will definitely be more than a few times better than the experience of similar clubs!”

assertive and logical.

“So, we are the best partner for you to choose.”

Janet listened, while at the same time scanning through the entire proposal. Then she got a general ide

a of what to do.

“First of all, in

terms of the supply of racing cars, Beacher, as a senior racer, has cooperated with many domestic and

foreign companies that specialize in

cutting–edge racing cars. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“Although the Wheeler family is among the top in car production, you don’t have an absolute advantage

when it comes to the quality and advancement of

the car.”

Janet’s gaze was determined as she systematically overturned each of Nigel’s

advantages.
