Chapter 1436: Amusement
Camille lightly pursed her lips and remained silent, simply gazing at Ayan with a hint of resentment in her eyes, as if to say to him, "Take me seriously, will you?"
Ayan couldn't help but chuckle at her expression, his voice becoming even huskier as he said, "Why so quiet now? Do you agree or not? You have to give me an answer."
Camille gently pushed his hand away and then attempted to cover his mouth, her voice tinged with a hint of coquettishness, "Stop talking, I'm just here to have fun. I don't want to be your secretary!" This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Ayan held her hand and pulled her into his arms, saying, "Then let's go have fun. But you have to stay with me at the company all day, okay?"
His eyes gleamed with anticipation, as Camille had previously only stayed briefly at the company before leaving, technically claiming she was keeping him company but actually just passing the time until someone else called for her and she would immediately run off without hesitation.
Ayan wanted to keep her by his side, his domineering nature directed only at her.
Camille simply pursed her lips and nodded, saying, "Fine, as if I can't stay put."
"How about we make a bet, hmm?" Ayan suggested.
"Another bet?" Camille huffed, "Why are you so fond of gambling?"
Ayan chuckled, "Do you want to bet? It's only advantageous for you."
"I don't believe you," Camille retorted.
"Don't believe me?" he asked in a low voice. Camille remained silent, just gazing at him with no hint of falsehood and instead a hint of expectation, tinged with a bit of helplessness and pity.
Camille couldn't stand Ayan's demeanor, so she eventually relented, saying, "Fine, fine, stop talking. I agree, okay? So, what are we betting on?"
"If you stay with me all day, I'll give you a gift. You can ask for anything you want, alright?"
"Anything I want?"
"Yes."
"Can I ask for Simpson Group?" Camille asked with a smile.
Ayan replied, "If that's what you want, then yes."
Camille pursed her lips and said lightly, "Alright, you've lost."
"What if I win?" Ayan asked, observing her confident demeanor.
"You won't win. If you do, then we'll see! I'm a person of my word, I won't deceive you or go back on my promises. And I believe that there should be some basic trust between people."
She seemed to have not considered this possibility, as there shouldn't be any problems staying at Simpson Group all day. If she got bored, there were plenty of ways to pass the time, like bothering him, reading a book, or dragging him along to have some fun together.
Camille had her plans, but she didn't reveal them. Instead, she flashed a mischievous smile when Ayan caught her, prompting him to ask, "What are you smiling about?"
"Nothing! Do I look like I'm smiling?" Camille pretended to be serious, her gaze earnest and devoid of any mischievous intent.
Their gazes met and they smiled at each other, each with their own intentions.
After breakfast, they set off for the company together.
Passing by the flagship bakery that Camille loved, Ayan saw it through the car window and asked, "Do you want to buy some treats to bring to the company to pass the time?"
"I won't eat, I'm afraid it will bother you," Camille replied, even though she loved the treats, she didn't feel like having them now.
Ayan found her response amusing and couldn't help but ask, "Are you just worried about bothering me, or are you afraid that if you go get treats, you won't want to go to the company anymore?"
"I'm not like that, don't misunderstand me. I never thought of that," Camille said, her expression serious.
Ayan nodded, "Alright, it's my fault. I shouldn't have thought that way about you."
Shortly after, they safely arrived at Simpson Group.
They took the elevator to Ayan's office together.
Ayan began his day's work, while Camille sat beside him reading a book.
Ayan's work was hectic, even though the company had many secretaries, assistants, and staff, as the CEO, he still had countless matters to attend to.
Watching him busy at work, Camille's lips curled into a slight smile unconsciously.
There's nothing wrong with a hard-working man, that saying never grows old.
Around ten in the morning, Ayan finished all the documents for the day and began a meeting.
As he left for the meeting, Camille was left alone in the office playing on her phone.
During this time, Ayan's assistant came in and brought some coffee and fruits for Camille.
Alone in the office for nearly two hours, Camille answered Ayan's office phone that rang once.
It was the office's landline phone.
After several hellos with no response from the other end, Camille assumed it was a signal issue and hung up.
Upon Ayan's return, Camille mentioned the incident and he immediately had Kian investigate who had called.
Since very few people had Ayan's office number, it was almost exclusively reserved for cooperating businesses and those with a certain stature, so it was unlikely for someone to call and not speak. With this occurrence, it was important to find out.
A few minutes later, Kian knocked on the office door and reported what he had found.
"Mr. Simpson, madam, the phone call that came through was from a nearby convenience store. Due to its remote location with blind spots in the surveillance, we couldn't see who made the call. It's evident that they were well-prepared," Kian said quietly, casting a glance at Ayan in preparation.
Camille bit her lip and instinctively looked at Ayan, asking, "What do you think?"
Ayan smiled faintly and said, "It's just a phone call. Clearly, whoever it is lacks courage to directly confront me. There's no need for me to investigate further."
If a confrontation were to happen, it would inevitably occur sooner or later. There was no need to pay too much attention to such people.
Camille's expression remained somber, her worries apparent as she asked, "Do you think there will be any major issues?"
